What a mess "chef"! This video must have been paid by POM to actually discourage people to eat fresh pomegranates and buy their industrialized - and expensive - juice instead. There are many videos with better ways than this one, i personally like this one, from a guy who seems to have grown up eating pomegranates from the orchards: look for Pomegranate Pomegranate: best opening technique
BAD CHEF. the more juice you spill the more seeds are wasted. The way she cuts a pomegranate is wasteful and uses way too many cuts. You have to cut in the places shes cutting but only cut deep enough to pierce teh outer skin and no deeper. Then you can pull the sections apart and they split along the natural membrane chambers. Peel the larger sheets of membrane off and then over a bowl of water gently push off the seeds from the pith. Youll have the most seeds for your buck!$
the first time i cut a pomegranate i did a better job than this and alls i needed was a plate, a knife, a pomegranate and i did a fuck load better job than this chick. lmao pomegranates are bomb tho. the Chinese apple haha
i'v been eating a fruit called Granada since i was 3 cause in my house in Puerto Rico there are 4 trees in my yard.It is Today that i find out that this fruit is called like so in english, and now i know how expensive and healthy it is.I also hear it serves as an Anti-Aging. i love this fruit and eat it almost every day with my dad sitting down sucking the juice then shooting the seeds out of straws. But over here our Pomegranate when fully grown is Red,green and yellow with the seed clear & red
@durgaaa dude not in China.. in Puerto Rico here where i lived for my 20 years of life. the Pomegranate is called Granada its the spanish Name for this fruit. and the seeds of the pomegranate i dont think they are good to chew lol. just to get the juice out of them then have fun.
@MagikJoe77469 ---In Mexico, there is the Granada Cheenah. It is very delicious and is just like I described above. I have eaten them. I have also eaten Pomegranates. I did not eat either when I was in PR. So do be clear that there are different names for different things in different countries. Dude.
@durgaaa Well, to be clear. in Puerto Rico. Granada means Pomegranate. Just ask any locals in here. PS: i never been to US or outside Puerto Rico. i know this place inside and out. we even invented the famous piña colada. lol.
@MagikJoe77469 -yes, you are clear. Am I clear ? In Mexico there is the Granada China, and it is delicious but completely different than your Granada -which is called a Pomegranate in the USA. The similarities are the crunchy seeds that are nice in the Granada China but tougher in the Pomegranate - and I eat them all because they are healthy to do that.
@durgaaa nice. hey now that i got the chance is it only in Puerto Rico or is it in the US to that the plant Moriviví (Mimosa Pudica) grows wild? lol i see that plant everywhere here and play with it lol but idk if it just here. i know we have pre-historic palm trees that only grow in Aguadilla,PR. no where else in the world. they are super call thick palm trees.
and even the word BBQ and ha-mack in english is originally a spanish word from the taino indians that used to live here, hurricane is also a Taino word used hundreds of years ago.
Man, what the hell is this! Just cut it in half, score the rinds a little bit to loosen it up and bang it with a large spoon over a bowl. All the red arils will come out no problem.
stupid chef. You should cut it in half loosen the ends, and hit the pomegranate so that all of the red thingies fall out right on your hand - bedst way ever
just cut the peel not the seeds, that way you loose les of the juice and less of the vitamins, the red color of the water shows she lost alot of juice and in fact vitamins, so take a thought is this the best way to waste ur energy =P
I'm sorry, but MY method is a lot better: lop off both ends, cut the skin along the ridges, then peel it open. Almost no damabe that way, except to the ends.
I did not learn anything here. Her method is silly and unnecessarily tedious. I cut it similar to her way, but I just eat the sections as they are. I don't eat the seeds I crush the juice out in my mouth and spit them out.
And I'm sorry but she should take public speaking courses.
what a crock.

@jerzkid87 Look at the name of the poster. I wonder if there is any conflict of interest there.

@megzie01223 I see plenty of red juice everywhere, and it's not necessary. She needs the Arab-Persian method which truly spills not a drop!

you have to learn it from persians ,pomegranate land!

i prefer being careful picking out the seeds rather than that to help get more of the seeds. So much is wasted and sliced up T_T
biohazard22791 2 years ago
I picked up the Pom wonderful brochure that explains it like chef Akasha demonstrated, this is a great way to get the arils out.
Thanks!
