  • great drivin'

  • lol a buddie of mine did that with an S-10 but the ice was probobly 3 inches think and it sunk up to his headlights, long story short he backed out asked me for a fuse that he thought he just blew but took out his radiator, rad support all headlights both front fenders, all the belts. I ended up towing him up the powerlines for a mile or so but it still ran. I will never forget the look on his face when he saw the front of it XD

  • lol ther about a quarter inch of ice

  • or 4 inches but close....

  • That poor Landcruiser froze his shackle off!

    Ouch.

Did they offer diesel engines in Canada for the FJ62?

    Thanks!

  • Nope we never got a 62 series here, stopped at the HJ-60 series in 1987. Also the last year you could get a diesel. This is a Japan import 1989 HJ-61 Turbo Diesel with full cable lockers front and rear

  • @ostacruiser

It looks as if your TLC had the 4 square headlights, so I wasn't sure what it was.

USA got no diesel engines... no H55 5 speed trany's either. : (

So, the 1989 you have included the square headlights, but with the 12 ht turbo? Did I get that right? I guess FJ62 was petrol motor only.

    Anyway... it's a great machine!

    Enjoy.

    PS

Can you readily fined the turbo diesel in Canada?

    Thanks.

  • Landcruiser For Life!

  • Just to reasure you of how reliable the drivetrain is in the HJ61, a guy in OZ escorts heavy haulage etc and his has done 621,000 miles. The parts that were replaced were a complete front axle and six piston rings no other parts need replacing. You find me a diesel 4x4 made in recent times, you reckon would do similar mileage with such little amount of parts that need replacing, and is still reliable until a complete full engine rebuild. Some of the American pickups maybe and the diesel Hummer H1.

  • umm are you calling a 6.5 GMTD reliable? You have never been around diesel engines if thats your mentality. The only engine that is stuffed in a pick up that is reliable is both a 3.9 4bt or 5.9 ISB cummins engine. We have a 2000 24valve that has 626,000 miles on it. Only engine work needed was valve adjustments as required by cummins every 150k. Only two valves were out of adjustment..by .01.

    6.5 a reliable motor...thats rich.

  • What do they use on mine sites throughout australia.........only toyotas!!!!!! Others are ok for puncing around on the weekend but for a real 4wd day in day out the only one is a toyota......better still an old one!!!

  • fjx80 for life!!!

  • if you think JEEP is a great 4x4, you've probably only ever owned a JEEP. Reliability is major component of owning a true off-roader; nobody beats toyota there and nobody can best the Cruiser with off-road ability (for the money). In Papua New Guinea, where I grew-up, the only thing that any sane person owned was a Cruiser!!

  • Next time, hook the strap up to the rear of a vehicle. if you have a choice, use 1st or 2nd in 4LO instead of reverse. Nice pull though.. nice rigs.

  • yeah cruisers are awesome, "I understand the jeep thing, thats why I drive a toyota."

  • hehehe, x2

  • I have both Jeep and cruiser... cruiser's are bad!

  • cruisers are bad? As in good like the slang term?

  • Yes, very good. The best most capable all wheel drive vehicles, especially with factory locked axles.

  • HaHa I woulda loved to pull a JEEP through that and see what would be left when I was done!! The ice was 4 1/2 inches thick!!

  • yah 1 jeep would do it... that's cuz jeeps rule and toyotas drool... ha! (or something like that) :)
