  • His eyes. He acts through them. Not his body, but his eyes

  • "Its been coming on so gradually, I hardly know." Is this love or the flu? LOL

  • 3:45 is that a recorder in the background?

  • From 1:48 on you can just see that he is trying soooo hard not to embrace her! LOVE!

  • look at the faces of Ms. Bingley and Mrs. Hurst there at the wedding.

  • I love his smile. How he says "my dearest and loveliest Elizabeth" this is my favorite! Colin Firth will always be Mr. Darcy!

  • Wow! Watches this version for the first time tonight... Amazing! I LOVE Colin Firth! -3 What I wouldn't give to be able to kiss that man! ... Sigh...

  • Hahah, I love how Lizzie practically went in to kiss him herself. Definitely her style.

  • That sermon is not the most romantic for a wedding, where is the 1 Corinthians 13. The yay for love that's usually at a wedding. Beautiful wedding nonetheless.

  • In terms of chemistry, I'm sensing it more from his side than hers. The '40s one while more broadly played, the main couple have more chemistry.

This is easily the best version in many ways, though.

  • ...my dearest and loveliest.... I´m melting *¬*

  • Sigh! Sooo good!! -3

  • Kiss me! Kiss me! NOT HER! ME!

  • But... why mr darcy never laugh??????? He smiles beautifully, but that's all he does.

  • oh!I LOVE that scene!!!!At last!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Do not cry, do not cry ... no, I'm crying!

  • Outstanding! Breathtakingly done.

  • Unless Bonham-Carter is far more popular than I assume it to be; how fitting that his sister is 'bellatrix'

  • @etcadambrown I think I read somewhere that they're distant cousins.

  • 8:01 !!! darcys got the sweetest smile :)

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!melting!!absolutely loved this series....just keep on comin back to watch it!!!

  • W!aAaaaaaaAaaA tooooo goooooood#d. T.T why did it finish?? Is not fair!!!!!

  • Why can't men dress like this anymore? We do have AC's now??? Awwww

  • even in his wedding Mr.Darcy wasn't smiling!!

  • "i do like him...i LOVE him"

their love was so clean & pure...

  • Yea! I wish this could be made public by all in its entirety, but I guess the proper supporters should help out this version and help encourage others made in such a true fashion to the book. It would've been more amusing to do a small epilogue with Lydia and co. to come to Pemberly and see everyone and overstay their welcome. I'm sure everyone wants to know how the trollop made out. X)

  • In St Trinian's, Colin Firth's character kills a dog named Mr. Darcy.

    God I love irony.

  • Soooooo gooooood yummmmy goood!!!!!!!!!!

  • im wondering how mr.darcy managed to remain calm and macho even though we know that he is over the moon when lizzie said that her feelings are quite the opposite. if this scene were to take place in this era, im sure the man would be jumping up and down and hugging the girl. lol

  • @BintuHurairah That is one of my only problems with this version. Mr. Darcy doesn't really look as happy as he should when Elizabeth tells him her feelings have changed. In the book it says, "Had Elizabeth been able to encounter his eye, she might have seen how well the expression of heart felt delight, diffused over his face, became him. (Chapter 58)" Although he wouldn't be jumping up and down, I don't think there's enough heart felt delight in his reaction.

  • Aw, thank you for accepting my video as a response :)

    Mara

  • "I love you" "I love you too" *continues walking down the road*

  • Did you notice Mrs. Hurst giving Miss Bingley a pityfull look in the church? And Miss Bingley wore as close to black as she could? :) Can you imagine her being more sour? Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darcy look like they are going to burst at the end. I didn't know Mr. Darcy was capable of smiling so much!! lol Well, all's well that ends well. :) Years ago I read a series of books that took place after their marriages. Very well written but I can't remember by who! Anyone please? :) Songs

  • @Songsmirth Maybe the books you were referring to were 'Mr Darcy Takes a Wife' & 'Nights & Days at Pemberly' all written by Linda Berdoll. Best selling Pride & Prejudice sequel.

  • @houlmouth Yes! Yes! Thanks to you. I had forgotten. I read so much and I'm ashambed I didn't put them down in my reading list. I get lazy sometimes. Appreicate it Houl. :) Happy new year from a cold Montana. If you need snow, I can send some!? lol Songs

  • I don´t like romances, but this takes all those things away, this is the best thing I´ve ever seen.

  • I bet when Colin Firth took this role..he probably had no idea how much fame he would gain from it. Pride and Prejudice will always be my favorite historical romance! <3

  • I LOVE MR. DARCY!!!

  • are you out of your senses to be accepting this man lizzy, have you always hated him?

  • Just 5 more minutes will do the trick

  • I love Pride & Prejudice! It's so GOOD!

  • I LOVE this scene!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hey u guys, can i ask for a favour? could someone tell what exactly mr darsy is telling to lizzie from 2:06 to 2:10?? english is not my language and i have a problem understanding this phrase..thank u in advance:))

  • @vicroryGR He says, "It taught me to hope as I'd scarcely ever allowed myself to hope before."

  • @harrietcow thank u sooo much, u really helped me:)))

  • 6:22 My goodness, Mr. Bingley sure does look "excited" about something. Thinking about the wedding night, perhaps?

  • "He is truly the best man I have ever known."

Way to make your Pop feel like a total loser, Lizzy!!

  • Love love love love did I say LOVE the end!!!

  • Oh my God Colin Firth <3

  • mr darcy (colin firth) is seriously so handsome. i love love love this version better than the movie.

  • i love that darcy is fighting a smile through out the end scene but then he breaks into a full out giggle of happiness

  • AND THAT PPL IS HOW YOU END PRIDE AND PREJUDICE!!!

not the silly movie version which decides to just cut when she walks out the door!!

  • 07:03 fine touch with Wickham taking to wine.

  • im soo watching this in the weekend!!!

  • i never understood why elizabeth had four horses on her carriage, i know she's the main character but jane's older. would she have four horses instead of two? or at the same amount of horses for each carriage.

  • @sophmeister303 I think Elizabeth has four horses on her carriage because Mr Darcy is richer than Mr Bingley, I dont think it has to do anything with Elizabeth being the maincharacter! #sorry for my englisch.ps. I love this version of pride and prejudice<3

  • @juuljustme i prefer colin firth as william darcy but i have still to find an elizabeth i really like. this one is too smiley (notice she smiles in just about EVERY scene. i know the character was a naturally happy person but i think this was too far) and the other one is too sad. some of the scenes in the k=newer one are a bit more romantic though, to me at least.

  • @sophmeister303 well I don't know, I think this Elizabeth has the perfect appearance for her, but she smiles a lot, I agree. yeay, the newer is very romantic, it's one of my favourite movies, but I think the characters are set better is this version. And I like that it is longer :] I just love movies set in this time area! ^^

  • @sophmeister303 @juuljustme

Lizzy having four horses on her wedding carriage instead of Jane's two had nothing to do with her being the main character or with Darcy's greater wealth. It was because they have a greater distance to travel than Bingley and Jane. Remember how far away Pemberley is compared to Netherfield, which was only three miles from Longbourn.

  • @rasta13820 Actually, you are right and wrong. Lizzy had 4 horses before her carriage because she became wealthier than Jane, or her family. At that time, you could only have a carriage if you had an amount of money each year which resulted that rich people had more carriages. Having 4 horses also meant that the family had quite a lot of money. (A post carriage was different of course). Having 4 horses doesn't matter about main characters eather...

  • @csokijegkrem Though Darcy was richer, Bingley was no chop liver. He had a town house in London and could afford to rent Netherfield as a home till he settled down within 30 miles of Darcy. He certainly could have afforded 2 more horses for his carriage, there was just no need for it. He probably could have walked to Netherfield as Lizzy did in episode 1. Bingley was a man who knew his worth and he was not ostentatious in his manners.

  • @sophmeister303 I'm pretty sure that Darcy made damn well sure that his carriage had more horses than Bingley's.

  • i cried

  • I was watching this movie for like the 100 millionth time and I kind of have to keep it as a secret because my parents probably think I've gone nuts but I don't really care. Plus any time I accidentally start to talks about it I always end up saying :" It is very good for learning English INDEED!" and then I always say "Stop VEXING me!!!" And since I said these my Mum keeps telling me "indeed" and "veying"... By the way, my mother language is not English, that's why my mum takes that answer....

  • @Sapna1987 :o)

  • i was screaming when he said "Dearest Loveliest Elizabeth."

  • 7:53 ohh mr darcy smiling is the best part....<3

  • Trust Mr. Darcy to be able to smooch someone with his top hat on ;)

  • That was the most perfect kiss. Right at the end! It kept me waiting for ages! Iove, love, love this movie!

  • @PurpleSparkle2007 unfortunately, its the opposite

  • @PurpleSparkle2007 Amen to that. And similarly, more Janes and Elizabeths and less Lydias.

  • @PurpleSparkle2007 The world needs the correct use of the apostrophe.

  • @steeeeevve Exactly!! My mother language is not English, but if I don't know how to use the apostrophes correctly, I fail English class in school......

  • @steeeeevve haha, you are funny :-)

  • I have my own Mr. Darcy. :o)

  • @barfotatos Do you have another Mister DARCY for me pleeeeeeeassse ????!!!! Don't be selfish ;)

  • this story is just perfect!

  • I just want to kiss Mr.Darcy! LOL

  • I love this scene so much!!! So romantic

  • AAHHHHHH!! hehehe my heart like stops when I see Mr. Darcy actually full-out smile at the end! AHHHHHHHH <3 <3

  • i was not introduced to this story until i watch the 2005 version~ i was scared to read classics before but since i watched the 2005 version i love classics. & i love both version. difference is only one is longer & one shorter. so shorter one must give way for too much of mr darcy pride

  • Also if people don't like this 2nd proposal very much you are not alone. The screen writer himself, Andrew Davies (I think that his name, sorry) did not like it very much and said he would like to change it if he could. He said he would have more loving glances than walking. it was in a PBS interview

  • I think the Darcys in the two version (this one and the 2005 one) are different but they are still Mr. Darcy. In this one they had more time so they were able to focus a lot more on Mr. Darcy's pride and suposed pompousnous. But in the movie Mr. Darcy had to be more likeable faster or then the auidience would never had anytime to like him. So they focused more on Mr. Darcy's shyness and vunerability. I love both versions very much, they are just the different sides of book Mr. Darcy.

  • My second time having finished watching this brilliant series, I find myself wanting to begin it all over again. The contrast at the beginning compared to the end in the story, is truly brilliance on Jane Austen's part. To give credit where credit is due, the acting portrayed is both magnetic and touching, it's pure perfection.

  • @Yvie64 What if we'd protest at the government to "make" Mr. Darcys for us all who would love us? It might work. *very hopeful face*

  • Ohhhh my God, Mr. Darcy when he's laughing in the carriage... I swear my heart did a cartwheel.

  • Lizzy is so nervous after Kitty left them. She looks here, there and here again and Darcy is like as if he didn't care for her at all. (0:09-0:19).

And at the wedding Darcy doesn't smile. Even a little bit.... :-( He might be a bit scared that Lizzy runs out of the church before they are married and doesn't want to be too happy before he can be sure of her love! Never mind... I think I have gone nuts over Mr. Darcy... But he does at the end of the service!!!!! So beautiful!!! :-) <3

  • @csokijegkrem I think if everybody looked at Mr Firths performance throughout the series one could quite reasonably say that he acted with as much enthusiasm as a dead fish. He had the look but not the life perhaps it was because he lost the most beautiful delightful Miss Ehle in real life. What man wouldn't be torn at such a loss!

  • @lordbeariofbow I don't quite understand what you wrote in the 1st sentence because English isn't my mother language but the 2nd half of what you wrote are so true!

  • Have you noticed that Lizzy is wearing the same dress at both of Darcy's proposals! I would have urned that dress after realising that I said all those things about him and they were all wrong... Oh, well.........

  • @csokijegkrem and why wouldn't she wear the same dress? She wears it many times during the series but isn't that as it would be? The Bennet's were not very rich and like you, me and probably everybody else we know, wears the same clothes many many times over a period of time and that is exactly what happens here. She also wears one delightful bonnet many times too! In real life that's what happens.

  • @lordbeariofbow Oh, I understand all this and know it. But thank you for the little set down. :-) This was just what I needed because I am the kind of girl who doesn't like what her little siblings do and I really needed something that brought me back to planet Earth from planet Darcy....

  • so cute, after lizzie told darcy her feelings were the opposite they start walking closer to each other! aaah! <3

  • @quirinelovesGod

    yes lovely

  • Thumbs up if you saw the ONLY time in the entire movie when darcy smiled

  • Dearly beloved.....

I want to have that opening by the preacher at my wedding. So aptly said!

  • @PDViewpoint When I was married the first time back in 1958 the service was exactly the same, but a lot more of it.

  • @PDViewpoint You might like to include the last line from that Church of England ceremony of that time too that was still in use in 1958 " for whomsoever God has joined together ; let no man put asunder" perhaps they should have included that line too in the program; I think it was used to put terror into the hearts and minds of the the bridal couple.

  • such a beautiful story and innocent era....Nowaday, we are shuttered by high rate of divorce and infidelity :(

  • I much prefer Jennifers potrayal of this scene, in my opinion Keira made Lizzy appear child-like and bumbling, something I don't think Lizzy would ever have been!

  • It was so refreshing to hear the minister talk of marriage in that way!

  • Miss Bingley's and Mrs Hurst's faces at 06:28!

  • Do any of the viewers actually believe that Darcy and Bingley are virgins in this scene? At 28, Darcy would have been quite the monk to live a celibate life waiting for his true love. And if he isn't celibate, what is the difference between him and Wickham? Maybe they shared a few at Cambridge?

  • @rasta13820 And do you actually believe that seducing 15-year-old girls was the only alternative to celibacy?

  • @MrNigribov Wickham was a rake & I do not defend him, but he may have also been pragmatic in his choice. Willing girls from good homes cost nothing & were likely disease free. However, should we view Darcy or Bingley with a kind eye because they could pay for their pleasures yet possibly infect their spouses with disease? Does this reflect well on their character? Not that this ever happened in the story, but I just don't think that all that vigorous fencing was an alternative to celibacy.

  • @rasta13820 I think even the concept of infectious disease was not quite formulated at that point, let alone for that to become a consideration. You can not possibly judge those characters by standards of our time. Also paid services were not the only option.

  • @MrNigribov

Syphilis was a clinically recognized sexually transmitted disease in London of 1800's. It was endemic with an estimated 1,652,000 annual cases in Great Britain. Treatment in hospitals was inadequate because venereal diseases were stigmatized & seen as self-inflicted & apt punishment for the infected. Please read: Wyke TJ. Hospital facilities for, and diagnosis and treatment of, venereal disease in England, 1800 - 1870. Brit J vener Dis (1973) 49:78.

  • *sigh* :D

  • After watching reading the book and watching 6 hours of this, I can say with all honesty that I have started talking like a British.

  • @tenoreyequetis i've certainly improved my speech as well :)

  • @tenoreyequetis I do believe that you need more practice; especially in the grammar department. One does not start talking like a British, one would start speaking like an Englishman or woman. However, be that as it may, let me be the first to congratulate on making the effort to speak correctly.

You know, or course that Miss Ehle is an American and she speaks English beautifully, I notice too that she uses her cutlery correctly whilst eating. There is hope for this world yet :-)

  • It's hularious when Mr. Wickham and Lydia are shown in their bed! Mr. Wickham is like "Oh great!" It's hularious!

  • @Girl4Happiness When the preacher says "as a remedy against sin and to avoid fornication". Perfect showing Wickham and Lydia. lol!

  • oh the kiss at the end....my heart is melting :') such a happy ending! ..sucks for the other 2 sisters but meh maybe another mr collins lookalike will come along. But Darcy is such a cutie when he's not arrogant.

  • AHHHHHH I LOVE THIS MOVIE<3 mr darcy finally smiled at the end!!!! ahhh his smile makes me melt<3 this is such a cute story... lovee pride and prejudice:)

  • 1:10

    Lizzie's heart just exploded.

  • Miss Bingley just looks delighted!

  • i love the way Mr Darcy smiles in the end!!! he is adorable!!!

  • Oh my gosh this is so amazing! I love how mr Darcy finally smiled at the end, now that he had his love he smiled. Colin firth was totally amazing in this movie! He's so one of my favorite actors!

  • I absolutely love Colin Firth... But not in this series! I actually found it quite boring and overplayed. Plus I can't stand the soundtrack. I was expecting so much from this series, that's probably why I''m so disappointed. I do love the 2005 movie much more.

  • I love it how each other's shoulders hit each other at 1:54 *-* <3 <3

  • @Nouranmosaad97

You can see, Lizzie loves it too ;-)

  • has to be difficult to kiss with these hats ..

  • "...to join together this man and this woman...and this man and this woman"

  • i love the beady eye side glance gives her husband during the wedding, so funny!

  • I am a hopeless romantic.. I have seen this scene sooo many times, over and over again, and still I have to wipe away a tear or two ;-) I guess that means that the story is wonderful, and Colin and Jennifer really did an excellent job. Thank you!!

  • Both pride and prejudice were amazing, but this one I really love the most. I'm going to watch it again!!!! :D

  • OMG! anybody look down on their pants.lol the cod pieces, i tell you they are very alive if you know what i mean!

  • @flipsyde336 I am.... fanny...

  • This series is the perfect...I love this series more than the film...♥

  • @rdpods me too but i love the book more than this series

  • I have seen the 2005 version so many times and I really liked Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Darcy and for the longest time I have heard Colin Firth and this version of P&P. Don't get me wrong. I like Colin Firth. I think he's a great actor and handsome but I never understood what people meant about him as Mr. Darcy. Now, having watching this whole mini series, I get it. I absolutely get it. :D Thanks for posting.

  • omg! the look Mr. Bennet gives Mrs. Bennet after the minister said "...not by any to be enterprised lightly or wantonly to satisfy man's carnal wants and appetites...." at 6.38 >< priceless!

  • @kimchi11213 Exactly! The whole reason Mr. Bennet married Mrs. Bennet. He was so physically attracted to her, because she was so pretty. She still is very pretty, when she isn't talking. lol!

  • aww it's so good to see darcy smile!

  • SDFJALSC AHH THIS IS SO CUTE.

  • This was the best I've been watching P&P all day. Perfect cast. I'm only 15 and this is my favorite ever along with the kings speech. :) YAY King George VI and Mrs.Logue :)

  • I do love this adaptation the best. I think Colin Firth makes a wonderful Mr. Darcy. The 2005 adaptation is definitely pleasant, but I do not think 129 minutes is enough time to do the story justice!

  • this is the best adaption of pride and prejudice the 2005 film with kiera knightley in is quite dreadful

  • ut tut..King George and Mrs. Logue

  • i want a mr Darcy!!!! and i want that kiss!

  • @uchechika I have a Mr. Darcy! Only he's a Mr. Poulin! And he's WONDERFUL! After almost 7 years, I'm just as in love as ever. :) <3

  • Am I the only person in the world who loves both this version and the 2005 version?

  • @DiamondTeardrop6

    You're not ;)

  • @DiamondTeardrop6 you can't love them as much because they are so different.. this series is much more like the book (which I like) whereas the movie is quite a poop american version.

  • @roppari69 You make a good point. But I still do love them both. This one is true to the original, and is just plain awesome. BUT, it's sooooooo long I hardy ever watch it. Whereas the newer one is shorter, so I have time to watch it more often, and it still has the same story.(I also love the camera work XD). I like both. Even if they're different.

  • Comment removed

  • @anniemann101 I think exactly the same!

  • I loved how he remembered her words word for word. <3

  • omg, 16 ppl are stupid. this movie is a total love!!!!

  • 8:00 at last Mr. Darcy smiled heartily :-)

  • i freaking love that they show Lydia and Wickham when the priest says " sin and fornication.' Awesome.

  • that has got to be the most adorable thiing ever<3

  • Pride and Prejudice is one of my favourite books and I think the TV series is so much more well made than the film as it didn't have to miss anything out. Plus it has Jennifer Ehle in it (one of my favourite actresses) and Colin Firth (what more need I say?) And I just love the music so much, every time I hear it I feel happy! When I tell people this, they do not believe that I am only 15 but it just goes to show, we teens are not all stereotypical, chain smoking, binge drinking rebels. ;)

  • @1531Laura I love Jennifer Ehle's eyes they are so expressive

  • @mysticbarkingcow I completely agree! And her whole presence and matter of being seems so elegant. If you have a twitter account, so does she, you should follow her as I think her tweets and pictures are rather captivating! ;)

  • tHATS REALLY STUPID .. TO REMOVE SOME ONES COMMENT BC THEY SAY THAT 2005 IS WAYYYYY BETTER.... WHAT A DUM THING TO DO.... THATS MY OPINION... GO SUCK IT..

  • Even as she says what amounts to "Yes", he does not touch her. The moment has not yet come to follow impulse. And he holds back. One imagines that will come to an abupt end soon, but for Lizzy's sake one hopes not too abruptly.

  • i always scream like i'm watching some kind or horror film when i watch this. it makes me too excited

  • This is THE definitive version of this book. No 2 hour movie will ever come close. There's simply to much story to fit in.

  • They finally got each other!♥ and the kiss...perfect!!!

  • @LizzyBD1 Yes except the kiss does not appear in the book, that was put in unnecessarily and spoiled the whole show and series. The producers stuck quite closely to the book and had to go spoil it with this. When ever I watch the series on disk I always push the stop after Mr Bennet kisses Elizabeth on the forehead.

Much as I'd love to have the joy of Miss Ehle the most gorgeous woman bestowing such a kiss or 2 or 3 upon me!!

  • @lordbeariofbow I don't think that the kiss SPOILED the show and series, it just made it better ;)

  • Aw Darcy is such a romantic!!!
