Would you preferto be called American Afican rather than African America. In Britain we quote the nationality first then the ethnic origin so I would say I am British Indian. I prefer it that way. I notice it's the other way round in America not just for Afican Amricans, but Irish Americans, Indian Americans etc. From watching the elections, Latinos don't even go alondide the nationality of America quoted. It would be more unified in the country I think if American was quoted 1st for identity.

Upper income and more educated African Americans use the term "African American" lower class people of all races, say "black" as well as other descriptions and I know you know what I mean. I cannot tell you...what is and what should be are often not the same. But then that means my Immirant Professor from Nigeria should be American-African. And it still doesn't quite address how one seperates Black Americans from Descendants of slavery vs. African Immigrants. And to be fair, someone from the USA is no more an "American" than anyone from Mexico, Canada, or Brasil.
