nice horse with nice turns, the rider has her hands in the right position. Only problem is she needs to get the horses head down to see those barrels better or else she will knock some over.
liked the fact that u only used the whip for encouragement between barrels rather than use it to beat the horse at the end of the run (that always pisses me off unless the horse is misbehaving)
nice run:]Love the paint I got a sorrel one like that in one of my vids...actually I am getting ready to start him on barrels in about a week or 2 do ya got any advice??Idc if its your opinion what I should do I just need advice he is a VERY VERY spunky horse:]
wow i just have to say grabbing the horn doesn't make you a bad rider with no balance, i have been barrel racing for years and now for me its an automatic reaction i dont think about falling off i just grab a hold, gryphonkeen i agree with you its good for a horse to be versitile, my horse is i highschool rodeo mare and we do poles reining barrels but at home she loves to jump i will lay all the barrels on the side and just hop over them she loves it!
Quit bickering about balance. In every horse sport there is balance. I jump and i also barrel race there is alot of balance in both of them. Jmpers dont have longer strurrips, and they dont have a horn to grab on to. try barrel racing in a english saddle. Its not that easy!! The western saddle also has a lot of support for the riders. and warm up means actually walking, trotting ,and cantering for at least 20min.
i think it would be pretty hard to barrel race in an english saddle. one because your supposed to grab the horn when you going around the barrel to help you sit down so your horse sits down to so you and your hose will go tighter around the barrels.
Wow. A barrel racer who can actually keep a seat around barrels without clinging for dear life. Good on you. Two hands on the reins to boot... it was a good run. Although, you ride a little too choppy with the gallop. You can get better time if you didn't jerk.
lol where i live i hardly know of n e barrels racers that dont stay balanced...mabey 2-3 barrels racers here are kinda not so balanced with their horses but most of us are...& im a barrel racer too...i have a BUNCH of videos up lol so if yall wanna watch em go ahead
Your an idoit. Go search NFR barrel racing on YouTube & tell me if that girl has no balance. Why don't you post a video of you barrel racing? Their are plenty of barrel racers that have amazing turns & balance. You know what, 80% of English riders are rich pompous snobs & jerks that don't warm their horses up before the gallop. Exspecially Hunter Jumpers.
=/ I hope that last part was sarcasm. Get your head out of your ass, obviously if I said 80% then it means 1/5 barrel racers've got good balance. Watch the pros, man. Girls jerking around in the saddle, stading WAAYYY ahead of the balance point, clinging to the saddle horn around turns... you'd be an idiot to say that's good balance.
Sad fact of matter is, a whole heluvalot of Western riders don't know anything about proper balance. They figure if you can stay on, that's good balance.
But I mean, can English horses turn that sharp? Yeah, it's easy to stay balance when your running in a straight line. Jerk. Try to turn and spin like that. Oh, and I'm sure reining has no balance either eh? I ride bareback most of the time and jump fences, staying in the middle of the horse at all times and never falling. There not little jumps either. I guess that's not balance huh?
...wtf is your issue? I'm not an English rider. I've comepeted in pro barrel racing. It's my sport. Durr. I've also jump mini prix courses. Jumping isn't extreme balance; anyone can jump a 6ft fence if they can two-point decently. It's only balance if you stay in a perfect center and don't flop around.
Same with bareback. Anyone can ride bareback if they hold on. True, if the horse turns, you need balance.
Point of the matter: anyone who clings to a horn, has no balance.
So you're saying that pretty much everyone who grabs the horn while turning a barrel [at least 95% of the barrel racing population] has no balance? Watch ANY training video made by a professional racer. They will tell you to grab the horn. It makes sense. When used correctly, the horn and your elbow should wedge you into the saddle, holding you tight in the seat and making you sit down to get out of the horses' way so he can work.
Ok I disagree with both of you. FaceBitch- Get over yourself. Marshmellow- I am an english rider who jumps 5 ft, and my horse can( and HAS) out-turned and out run barrel horses and cutting horses. It's about training. That's it. for the horse and rider. Balance IS required for either sport so quit discipline bashing.
Out running and out turning doesn't always have to do with training. The same goes with speed. Some horses just can't do it along with some horses that just can't jump.
See my reply to Marshmellow... And As for english horses not turning, Take a minute to look at some speed jump-offs. You take your barrel horse over a 6 ft fence and the roll back into a three stride take up and you tell me if that's not a tight turn...
get over yourself. My horse is a jumper, but I trained him to do spins, barrels and poles also. it is good to be versatile. and not arrogant *coughs*
The pros that ride like that are making it to the NFR, are they not? So who really cares how they ride? They made it there riding like that, and you didn't. Sure, I watch the Finals every year, and some of their riding is a little questionable and you wonder a little bit how they even stay on a horse, but most of them are good hands and know what they are doing.
what the hell are you talking about?? hunter jumpers don't warm up?? hell what do you think all the trotting for 20-30 minutes before the show is??? Do some research, like ACTUAL unbiased research before you spout your mouth off!!
I board at a hunter jumper barn where their average jump is around 4'3". Everytime they ride they walk one time around the arena and then ask for the canter. Then when they are done riding none of them walk their horses out. I see where facebitch is getting that idea from.
Good run! Nice form from both you and your horse! I live in Nakusp near Vernon, i know some people that went to a BCBRA race that day. Was this race a Brewers?
