@bm5447 i bought the hives unassembled from a few of the major sellers. i would not try to build them from scratch with my limited wood skills. thanks for watching, eric - GardenFork
@Koiboy70 grease patties are real easy to make, mix up vegetable shortening with sugar, you want it like a hamburger patty consistency, then place them on wax paper and put in plastic bags to transport to the hives. add essential oil mixtures if you like, we have a recipe for that on our website, thx, eric.
@erochow Thank you. I made some and added Oil of Wintergreen - I think that it really knocked down the varroa mite population that was threatening my hives... Thank you again for sharing. Jason
How cold? We got -15°C last week and we dont use any wraping here in Slovenia. I beekeep with our national Apis mellifera carnica. Our country is one of the world superpower in beekeeping.
Man, you don't need paper , you don't need another cover, just leave it like you have it in the summer. And you should put the grease in in the plastic bag and cut it on few places.
Nice - thanks for the video. I have purchased 15 hives from a local beekeeper who is retiring - hope to pick them up before christmas. These videos are a great help. Thanks :)
did you make or purchase the hives? If you bought them where did you buy them?
