@faerietale3 - that's insane. recycling can involve what u cite, but landfills are an abomination, and getting material to produce more glass, metals, plastics etc means causing much more environmental damage than it would if existing stuff was recycled. recycling is a reduced process of the process that produces the materials new, ie - it uses less fuels cause it only has to do the melting and remoulding (or equiv.) parts. not the mining and / or pre-manufacturing.
