I have Vista 64-bit and it's okay. I also use Ubuntu time to time, but Ubuntu is like the convenient and functional Vista minus all of the software, so there's really no point in having it. OS X? Don't even get me started on that POS.

The software for Ubuntu in my experience is horrible. It's like running your entire computer off freeware, and not the good kind most of the time.

Well I've had Vista, W7 and Ubuntu. I still have Ubuntu and Vista, I used W7 for two weeks and I changed back to Vista. It's horrible but it was way better than W7. I don't understand why people are so fancy about it.

Ubuntu is the one the I find the best but because all programs and stuff are fro Windows, Vista is the one I'm using the most.

I like Ubuntu, don't get me wrong, but like you said, all programs and everything is for Windows. I can't really find a way to go about my regular day-to-day computing on just Ubuntu alone.

As for W7, I find it to be significantly better than Vista; still not exactly flawless, but in comparison it's a god. Some of the new UI features I find even more convenient than in Ubuntu, like the side-by-side windows. The taskbar can be changed back :P

Ubuntu has the only taskbar that actually works. The auto-hide does not work properly in any Windows or Linux.

W7 kept crashing (whole system about twice a day, individual programs honestly all the time) and had several errors and things I missed.

One of the rare things that are unicue to Vista AND Ubuntu that isn't in XP or W7, is the when you press Alt+Tab it shows desktop. That's something I really liked and use a lot. Especially I would have needed it in W7 since it "locked" some programs so that I could not go to taskbar with moving the mouse down (such as APE and Skype that I use a lot).

@MovieStudio620 windows key+d gets you to the desktop i both windows and ubuntu. Also you should try windows key+e next time you are in Ubuntu.

Well I this describes how I felt it myself, when you're installing Vista, you have to keep inserting all kind of information all the time, and then when you cannot write without watching the keyboard (I couldn't then) you have to start over again, when it gives some stupid error or loading while you were typing. In Linux, you just type the stuff, it loads it and it's complete.

for the average computer user, WINDOWS is the way to go, but on the other hand LINUX is not intended for the average pc user, you have to know your way around computers otherwise you'll be wasting your time in LINUX's forums to solve your problems, I am really disappointed with UBUNTU Intrepid Ibex version,It has been 4 days since I installed it, the desktop effects are better than windows but I am still trying to make my webcam , and dvd player to work.

Well for me, installing Ubuntu has been very useful. Some programs my family needs, are only available for Linux. It is also faster and doesn't fall so often. For normal use, it's more useful to install Linux side Windows, which CAN be done with Ubuntu (like in my comp atm). Also in many works, there are both Windows and Linux computers because they are both needed.

I'm not trying to say Linux is better choice for everyone, but it was for me. But anyway, I'm still using more Windows than Linux.

Not bad, its true. Its way to true. Linux had almost all my drives on install, while Vista i only had drivers because they where all buildt in. However Vista needed drivers when i plugged in a USB mouse or WLAN usb sticks.

I also have them both on my comp and Linux is far better but unfortunately I have to use Vista because I'm too lazy to download all programs into Linux-mode, however Linux gave me lots of things I didn't even know about my computer like horizontal roller, WLAN-security and more. Vista also falls when I'm watching videos on YT.

no se on kyllä totta että pelikoneeksi Linuxista ei kerta kaikkiaan ole, siitä yksinkertaisesta syystä että siihen ei ole pelejä :( ois kiva nähä miten linux käyttäytys pelikoneena

sekin on totta että Linuxill saa tehtyy pientä ja nopeasti, toisin kuin vistassa
