the EBR is the platfrom the M1A reciever is attached to, With out a scope it can be used as an assault rifle. put a good red dot, of EO Tech on there and youll be all set. the EBR can be used in either way, sniper or assault rifle. I have seen it used both way. My M1A is going to me a sniper, but I would really love to get the EBR platform for it.

Yeah, I'm still amazed that they simply went on to a completely new and the most unreliable thing out there, the M16. The M14 could have just received some modifications, like a straight buttstock, pistol handle and a shortened 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge to reduce recoil. Some of its wooden parts could have been replaced with plastics or light metals, like aluminum. It would've been much better than the M16. It would've also served the soldiers in Vietnam much, much better.

So, if u straighten the overall layout of the M14, if u shorten its cartridge 2 reduce the recoil & if u replace the wooden parts with plastic parts, the M14 would've been the perfect

Personally, I would choose the XCR simply because it looks more solid. It looks like a very robust design that can work in any type of environment. A 6.5 Grendel version would be great.
