Regardless of whether Courtney married Kurt or not, she probably would have got the publicity anyhow, she's just too much of a combustible element to have not to. Hole's first album was mixed by Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth (who now hates her guts), she had the connections to get somewhere. I don't think publicity compromised her music, I do think the end of the 'grunge' era and the movement towards radio friendly rock impacted Celebrity Skin tho
