One Kabardian princess married Tsar in 1557 means that SHE married him. Marriage does not mean joining Russia.

The marriage was alliance between the princesses father and the Tzar. ONLY HER FATHER AND THE TSAR and the father never viewed it as joining russia, he viewed it as an alliance.

Her father never ruled over all Kabardians (let alone all Circassians) in fact the father married his daughter because he wanted a strong ally since he was fighting other kabardian princes.
