  • no nothing on using stingers just says it could damage weapon if you use anything rated higher than 1280 fps

  • the guy at academy recommend cci stinger but the pt22 is rated at 40 grain at 1280 fps, the stinger i got is rated 32 grain 1640 fps he also said dry firing the pt 22 wouldn't damage it but taurus told me otherwise can u help with this

  • @bartonjudson For personal carry I would use the Stingers I have had no problems using them. Is there something in the manual that says not to use them? Cause if there is I have yet to see it??? As far as dry-firing I would go with Taurus on that one...it's the same principle for most .22 rimfire guns!

  • great gun just needs a good breakin 2-500 rds i love mine ... i use .22lr remington golden bullets 36 gr

  • I enjoyed the video and went and purchased a PT22. Thanks for the good info. I do have a question about firing Stingers or Velocitors and whether the weapon can handle it? I seen post either way with some people even claiming damageto the gun after firing Stingers.

  • @Mattrpm6600 PT22 - WARNING: THIS PISTOL IS DESIGNED TO SHOOT 22 LONG

RIFLE STANDARD AND HIGH VELOCITY AMMUNITION ONLY. DO NOT

USE ANY OTHER AMMUNITION IN THIS PISTOL. Above is copied and pasted from the owners manual! It does not say not to use Stingers? CCI Stinger is rated 22LR so I don't know what the fuss is all about? Unless I'm missing something...might have to do a bit more research on it! Thanks Pal! =)

  • @rugersix

I know the manual says not to use the hyper-velocity stuff BUT: I sent mine in to the factory , talked to the gunsmith that fixed it, he said they tested it with a variety of ammo to check function and also used CCI Stingers to test it. If the factory shoots Stingers out of them I don't see a problem with using them. The hyper-vel rounds operate at the same pressure so it's no big deal.

  • all the videos keep sayin that the magazine doesnt slide out on its own. if u hold the button down and flick the gun down, the clip will slide right out...

  • @producenotes814 That's funny I have two did what you say on an empty mag and no dice! Did you mean maybe with a loaded mag?

  • @rugersix both. my clip slides out whether its empty or full. when its empty, i do have to flick it a little harder. maybe u need to grease your clip or something. im not an expert, so im not sure what you would have to do. call Taurus and ask them about it if you cant figure it out. i will ask them as well.

  • @producenotes814 WEll it's not too big of a concern to me. Thanks!

  • @rugersix lol alright. your welcome.

  • @producenotes814

Correct, if the magazine is empty there is no spring pressure to push the magazine out, if the magazine is full it ejects when the mag release button is pushed. It's just the way the designed it.

  • is the pt22 reliable

  • @theDUKE197908 Mine is!

  • finally broke down and picked one up, fun to shoot, and it was only 175 bucks, clean and fun shooting.

  • @JackSureshot Congrats! Glad you found one for such a great price too! =)

  • @rugersix i got one for 100 dollars.

  • Went to the Gun Shop today. They dont carry them so I looked around. Found a Ruger LCP. Fell in love. I found my gun, that and a Rossi .38!

  • @Peidmonte89 Thats awesome!!! Congrats! =)

  • Say, would you happen to know where I can find a left ankle holster for one of these guns?

  • @Peidmonte89 I think you would have to go with like an Uncle Mikes universal type or another brand????

  • @Peidmonte89

Why get a holster at all? The PT-22 is a perfect pocket pistol, I used to carry mine when wearing bermuda shorts, no one ever knew.

  • @TheJomogogo ya but if you sweat through your clothes cant it rust the gun? And make it all yucky?

  • @Peidmonte89

If you sweat through your pockets you need more help than a gun dude.

  • @TheJomogogo hmmmm let me see....95 degree weather, with black uniform, for 8 hours a day...ya....

  • @Peidmonte89

You.....sweat on your upper thigh through your pants?

    oinkety oinkety

  • @TheJomogogo I wish you could say that to my face right now.

  • I'm looking at getting this for my ccw at work. I have to wear a uniform and its kinda tight on me so I dont want a super big gun. On the same token I have never shot a hand gun so a .25 would be good I think as it doesnt really kick. Plus it just looks so cool! and is good for a poor man like me as far as price!

  • @Peidmonte89 Sounds like the ticket for you! =)

  • @rugersix thanks for the quick response, just for that I sub'd ;) Also isnt the .25 supposed to be more reliable since its a center fire? I feel fine carrying either .22 or .25. Can you even count the number of successful assassinations by Mafia hitmen with both of those calibers? It should say something about them! And at close ranges shots to the head, neck and chest with most any caliber will do it. Heck my BB pistol projects BB's at 950 fps! Heck that could kill! Not very effective but ya...

  • @Peidmonte89 No problem! =] You have very valid points there and I totally agree with what you are saying.

  • Rugersix, Did you know Mussolini carried a similar pistol in the front pocket of his uniform? Ya much like the berretta, infact is was a berreta! Idk if it was .25 acp or a .32 acp.

  • if those pt-22's were DA/SA i would probably buy one....but that DAO trigger is rough

  • @jakep42zer0 For personal protection and for carrying around in ones pocket so to speak I'll take a stiffer DOA trigger pull any day...when it comes down to a life or death situation the last thing on your mind will be how smooth the trigger pull is or isn't. But...I hear ya it could be a bit smoother! =)

  • Great video man!! I literally just came home with my first PT-22. I bout it for $200.00 even at a pawn shop and you just answered every question that I had. I have been wary of carrying such a small round but lugging the Glock 23 in shorts and a tee shirt in summer is a bitch. I can't wait to test fire it on the range. Mine must be older as it does not have the key lock option. Thanks again.

  • @Airborne80 Awesome...sounds like a pretty good deal to me! Congrats on your new purchase! Thanks for watching and commenting I'm glad this video helped you out with a few questions! That's why it's here! =]

  • ooohhh facny intro

  • @RevolverLover101 I put a little time into those! Thanks! =)

  • Great review. Thanks!

I'm just having trouble finding a competitative price for the pt-22. Most shops want $250 and up. Any suggestions?

  • Well it looks like they have gone up in price a bit! WoW! An idea is possibly a used one in good condition thats already broke in! Have you tried auction sites like gunbroker? Also google Buds Gun Shop they have some nice prices on their 25acp's but w/on line you have shipping and transfer fee which increases the cost!

  • Bud' Gun Shop. only $201 shipped. ffl dealer might charge 25 for recieving gun and 50 for transfer. Ima buy one.

  • whats better the bobcat or the pt22?

  • its a toss up...price wise...PT-22 =]

  • the only thing making me want to buy this more than the bobcat 21a is the fact that the bobcat has the ugliest trigger guard ive ever seen, it looks like sheet metal lol

  • I guess it kind of does! lol =]

  • I have a pt 22 with the nickel handle, rosewood grips, and blued slide and barrel. It is pretty fun and cheap to shoot.

  • That's a pretty one! =]

  • Hey nice little back up!!!now i want one..

  • Thanks I agree! =]

    Get One!!!!!!

  • i own a taurus pt22 and have had my pearl grip handle crack on the right side near the lever/rail that cycles the hammer and now will have to buy some rubber grips and hopefully that will solve the problem

  • Pearce makes a real nice wrap around rubber grip for these!

  • Finally a review of a gun that I own. It's fun to shoot but man that slide is tough! Like you, I tip the barrel and load one instead of racking the slide. Great videos as always. Thanks!!

  • Right! And...that's the point no need to even worry about the slide on these...that's the beauty of it!

  • in this case i'm not a fan of the mag safty.

Take out mag you might think it's empty , mag in and bang.

Specially cause this is a weapon what will be used as a ccw and will not see much practise at the range.....

    Or am I wrong?

    Btw really like it.

I was thinking about a bobcat but i think they a to costly.

  • LOL, sorry I just woke up, living the life, of a coffee fanatic.

  • LOL! Well...yes and no!!!

    Ha Ha Ha!

I would probably have to sell off my collection just for that! =]

  • What a tiny pistol :) There isn't a lot of demand for those here in Europe as the primary use of these is concealed carry as a pocket pistol :) Nice review !

  • You need to start a new trend!

    Mouse gun competition shooting!!!! =]

  • Well I have some good news ! I'm in the market for my first .22 pistol. But I'm probably looking into the direction of target pistols like the Buckmark :)

  • Sounds like a good idae.

  • Great video RugerSix! I'm tempted to pick one of these little guys up.

  • Wait for the next installment on this series and then decide! =]

  • I have a very new beretta 21A bobcat....... and i love how it is first shot double action transfer to single action unlike the double action only Taurus..but i have been having a lot of jams i have tried some different kinds of ammo including CCi stingers the next time i am out and about i will pick up some mini mags and give them a try.......... By the way great video Six cant wait for the next installment

  • Hey! aramaki23 be sure to watch the next clip as I also use to own a Bobcat so we will be talking about that! I had issues with mine but I loved that little Beretta!

  • The price is right!

  • real cheap to shoot to =)

  • It will feed some cheap stuff but you may have some miss feeds etc.

Did great with the CCI Mini-Mags!

  • i like the blued finished Taurus better for some reason

  • I like it better to it actually works better will explain that in part three.

  • lookin forward to it

  • Me Too! LOL =]

  • Very nice pistols. I always loved pocket pistols, but we can't buy them in Australia unless we're collectors. That means if we can't shoot them that's why I went for a target pistol licence instead. Very disappointing laws. Great video 5*s.

Can't wait for the next part!

  • Thanks Mate!

    Appreciate your continued support! =]

  • 7:25 So, If the slide doesn't extract, won't that jamm the gun ? (having a round in the mag coming up while you got one in the chamber).

    Just asking.

    Great little guns Ruger...

    *****

  • I guess I'm basically referring to actually checking the gun after shooting to make sure it's unloaded. Should have made that more clear. Sorry.

And of course the gun would jam if the slide does not fully operate to allow extraction of the empty cartridge.

    Thanks! =]

  • Awesome as always I just don't know about Taurus guns.I respect your reviews and buy the guns you like and review.I will buy a Taurus if you buy a block (sorry typo) Glock..Thanks for your hard work.Devoted fan .

  • Bill- We will cover the reliability issues in the next clip the pro's and the cons! I never want anyone to buy a gun they may have reservations about or feel it's not for them! Thanks to one of my best viewers! =]

  • If you say it's good I'm there my friend.Your reviews are the best bar none.
