haha she knows or well he knows... he wasnt tamed like ur bird ..he was fearful of humans and other animals ..he knew how to fly and all that but always want 2 b with another bird ..I was hoping to release my other one but his feathers were 2 short.. the one i released wa a lilac crowned amazon the one that i still have is a red loro
This particular parrot would not know how to survive in the wild. She's not afraid of animals that would be potential predators and she would not know what to forage on. People definitely should not take parrots from the wild, but many pet parrots cannot be released because they have no survival skills.
Hi Ripley is beautiful. How long have you owned him? I am owned by 4 Red Loreds and one talks just like him. I wish I could figure out what he is saying..LOL
Your red lored is very beautiful. We have a seven year old red lored that has been with us for 2 years now. She's in love with our african grey Misty.
is the same as a Mexican redhead? am looking for a smaller amazon as a friend for my blue-crown conure jasper. interested in the redheads and lilac crowns. beautiful bird you have there (and jasper concurs).
She's a red-lore and they're very similar to the Mexican red-heads. The red-heads don't have the yellow cheeks, though. Lilac crowns look a lot like red heads but they have more purple on the head and are a touch smaller.
I really like the smaller Amazons like white-fronts, red-heads, red-lores and lilac-crowns. They supposedly don't speak as well as the big ones do (but some talk very well), but they are a bit calmer and are more gentle than the large Amazons.
We have no idea what she's saying. She puts a lot of effort into trying to mimic human speech, but she can't say much comprehensible. She sure likes to sit and babble to herself. She also has a very cute laugh!
Sorry, didn't know it was a "she"! I had a Mexican red head whom I miss a lot. I believe these two species are closely related. As far as speech, her voice is clearer then most amazons I've heard. If she learns some phrases, she'll be amazing! Love her...

thanks. yes, will gladly forfeit some of the talking ability to avoid the nasty bites the big ones like to give.
