A Bizarre Collection Of Puzzles by The Enigma is no ordinary book. Abandoning the standard format of numbers 1 to 9, The Enigma has inserted a variety of names into the sudoku puzzles. These bizarre grids feature such topics as geography, history, popular music, politics, and sport. You won't have seen anything like this before. Also, the author (a former contestant on Fifteen To One and Countdown) has compiled 300 conundrums and numbers games from Channel Four's popular Countdown show.
goddam, i cant believe how cut up i get watching this, the world lost someone so uniquely ridiculous and sweet when richard died, and more now than ever the world really needs people like Richard Whiteley!! R.I.P
I was 11 when Richard's death happened and at the time I didn't really like countdown, I thought it was boring.
I'm older now and actually enjoy the show and allthough it didn't really matter to me before. I have to say Richard will be sorely missed, you could tell everyone loved him. It's a shame he died at 61, that's still pretty young these days.
and like many people who have watched this, I had a lump in my throat towards the end, you could tell Carol was close to tears.
@jh94 It's testament to his amazing personality and enormous popularity that so many people were 'surprisingly' affected by his passing - I'd stopped watching Countdown many years before he died but it still felt as if someone very close to me had gone, and I know many who felt the same. He was on the telly so much for regular viewers and not once outstayed his welcome; you can't say that about many presenters.
As I kept watching towards the end, I had a lump in my throat it was so sad...
I watched this since I was very little (1999...?) with my great-grandmother, and as I got older and understood it more, just seeing his smile made everyone smile. It's a shame that Countdown has fallen into disrepair, with the death of 'Twice Nightly Whiteley' then Carol Vorderman leaving, then moving studios. As they said in the video, if only the Countdown clock could move anticlockwise...
When Countdown started he was so bad you couldn't believe the show could keep going, but oddly you got so used to him that you thought he'd go on forever. His death was a real shock, even for casual viewers.
