I am not a tanker driver nor a truck driver. I was helping lock down the road and advise the drivers in the area that may be tanking thru that they should divert arount due to the extreme heat.
Taking out of turn isnt very smart either..How does your loafer taste?
I have been by that spot a few times recently and looks like the highway dept had to dig deep and repave that area a few times, also the surrounding brush and trees got a real scorching. The surrounding brush and trees took a scorching and there are a few areas of the guard rail that look warped from the heat. Not a good area for new drivers as the exit is very easy to almost miss and the truck looked like thats what happened as it lay burning in the angle it was.
I heard friday he was released from the hospital and is doing well considering.
young man is very lucky to be alive and he should thank the lady that stopped and helped him into her car and took him to a safe distance away from the explosion.
Yes, I am also surprised they didn't shut it down earlier. So glad no one was seriously injured. The fire marshall reported it was in a ideal spot bc there were no structures in the immediate area and they could let it burn off. Apparently, there have been two identical wrecks there where the drivers did not survive.
Glad to hear he survived, the heat from the fire was insane. The spot where you could see the truck thru the clearing of trees was where i could feel a massive amount of heat and you could hear the crackle of the metal tank. I was amazed the fire dept didnt shut the highway sooner, you could see how close the traffic was to the fire and a secondary explosion woul have reached easily to us.
The driver is a close family friend. He actually flipped off the overpass. He has survived with burns to his face and neck. He has a brand new baby at home! So glad he made it through this! He is a fighter for sure!

Im not a trucker ,i own a emergency roadside assistance company and use the cb alot. It helps me make money and keeps me aware of the traffic conditions when im on a call..
The crackley radio and Texan accents reminds me of Apollo moon landing recordings.

People that drive towards a tanker fire aren't very smart, especially another tanker driver. Videoing while driving ain't real bright either.
