heres a tip ,,instead of buying roadbed cork strips,,check your auto parts supply stores,,rolls of sheet cork for making gaskets is cheaper,,i'm on a budget, lol,,also,,for weeds and wheat,, 'farmers sisal rope',,cut into 1" , or height needed, works great.
more trees. also use natural things from the woods. real dirt . saves much money. great layout but colors and mirco details add so much. Birds and other animals. wish i had my owm layout but can never afford it and do HO diaramas. make power lines and actually run the electricty thru them to houses
Well I have seen all the vidios in the series and for what it is worth I salute your whole attitude . It dose not matter if things are off scale or not in keeping in time .
I am starting my 6th Layout and in it I will have everything From car crashes to illeagl Raves !!! I will definitely be pinching your UFO idea!! Totaly awsome! The main Idea will be late 20th century , but with a preserved Railway so I can run what I like when I like ! and 2 fingers to the die hards out there , play on!
I found out that the Walthers Heavyweight Cars need more than just a slight trimming of the center sill, If you take off the truck from the car, you'll see about a scale foot what looks like the tip of it with two indentations, I took a chisel and removed the indents and then put the truck back on. ( You can see my modified 3-2 HW Obs Car converted to a business cars, at " Golden State Runbys, by areakt).
Thanks very much for taking the time and patience to make this sequence! Much appreciated! Don't care about the grieve people give you for you openness and candidness of your mistakes. You clearly have a lot of fun, and willing to share what you learn! Keep it up! Awesome!
comming together great!!! i like your layout,im more of a steam and old diesel person, but the quality pulls you in!i love it,you have regualare up freights and like excursion trains with restored steam locomotives,i really like if,gets me thinkin,i have watched all your updates but i cant remember if you talk about the acuall grass effect i .i just have a green flat paint down but want to put in some actuall texture for grass,if you have any suggestiond for that, and what to use to make water?thx
Just a thought, but you could possibly fit a small cell phone vibrating alert motor inside those windmills. Just remove the counter weight and attach the spindle to the blades.
Its been great watching all of the videos of your new layout from the beginning but if its not too personal, how much did you spend not including track engines or cars?
UFO, Cool. I have a waybill for a reefer on my layout were you deliver a cryogenic freezer from Roswell NM, to Groom Lake NV. The cargo is listed as a biohazard.
Some things you should be aware of, Athearn's California Wine Train is totally inaccurate, except the paint job, The actual train runs Alco FP4A Diesels that were former VIA Rail locos, you can make your own wine train, And the Passenger Cars were Former D&RGW " SKI TRAIN HVYWT Cars I'd used repainted and decaled Walthers coach cars and the obs car is named " Aurgonaut " I believe.
@HunterR909 I am already aware of the innacuracies. It is probably the worse set I own as far as quality and accuracy. But I bought it just because I rode the Napa Valley wine train and wanted a keepsake of sorts. I doubt I'll put any more money into it. I might add sound to the engine....and thats a big might!
@elr2141979 hold on here, are trying to tell HIM what HE should do on HIS layout? really? Have you seen till the end of this video? and the other video he mentioned!
@jlwii2000 if i had to order any type of brass up exscursion car that would be it well that and because i cant find the idaho track inspection car or the fox river inpspection car
Great video series. Nice job.
(yes, I did watch all these in one go.)

@elr2141979 Why ? Thats the best part. I would have skipped the windmills and solar panels and added a coal fired power plant for coal trains.
