These promos by FNL and DirecTV is why I tuned in, to see what this show was all about!! After watching the first episode of season 3, I watched the first two seasons of FNL in a weekend. It is such an amazing show. Sad to have seen it end, but I am happy we got closure. I feel like the creators of the show cared about the characters. You don't really see that anywhere else on TV.

People complain they did not finish season 2 but they couldn't have a conflict with season 3 ! Anyway the writers strike cancelled the finish of season 2 and they had to fill in the rest to start season 3!

I too am a big FNL fan, especially seasons #1 and #3. This promo, which plays before each episode of season 3, has always confused me. The whole tone / color palette / style / lyrics -- none of it matches the actual show. It's got the same actors in it but they don't seem very in character to me. Did the producers of the show have any input into this promo? Is it supposed to mean something that I'm just missing? Why was it created?

The song was used at least twice in the show (I believe both the first and last episode of season 1). The lyrics fit amazingly for the small town of Dillon. I agree that the rest of the promo's tone if off, but the song...hardly.

You can't just make it to state every damn season, that would be way too unrealistic.

Can a team win state multiple times? Course they can, but winning it back to back is highly unlikely.

its about a town called dillon. its in texas and they LOVE football. the football team is life. but there are of course other plot lines. its filmed in a different style than most shows. its almost documentary filming. its FANTASTIC. =]

Is no one going "WTF?!" at the disconnect between season 2 and 3? Smash never got injured in season 2 and he actually ended up getting a scholarship at a lesser college football program. Also, weren't Riggins, Smash, and Lyla all Seniors in season 2?

Smash was injured in between seasons 2 & 3 and therefore lost his scholarship, and he graduated last year (also in between S2 & 3) so clearly he was a senior, dunno about Riggins and Lyla.

yes, Season 3 will be aired on NBC sched in Feb, Matt and Julie hook back up, Riggins is prob converted to a Christian and stops drinking, and somebody prob gets preggers...it IS a teen series afterall.

If you watch the show, the second episode pretty much just shows how the small town reacts to football, and seeing the episode and listening to the song, it just goes together perfect.

But the song actually has a really deep deep meaning. Go look it up. Original is by Daniel Johnston? Dunno if the first name is right but last name is.

The ratings were pretty bad for this show. So the only way NBC would keep it on air is if another network would pay for the cost of the show and also air episodes (the only reason NBC didn't cancel this show is because its the basically the most critically acclaimed show NBC has right now....). So Directtv will air the episodes starting in October...and NBC will air them in early 2009 (prob January)
