for some reason, this did not work for me. My nails won't budge even a BIT after soaking for 15 minutes, but the hot acetone realllly jacked up the skin on my hands. ugh =(
Your advice was great, very true to nail health. I especially like the after care tips with the nail strengthener and how to correctly file nails. One thing I would suggest, when you post a video, watch it immediately so you can see if there are any volume or camera problems, then re post after fixing. You spoke loud enough but the music was a bit high (and not really necessary, you were plenty interesting without the music). Good job, hope to see more!
thanks! this really helped(: bad thing i decided to turn the volume up on my speakers to hear you, then go on iTunes to listen to music.. i think i jumped 2 feet back from my desk haha
This method works really well actually, but the acetone dries your hands horribly, even with the vaseline. I've been applying lotion a million times a day for a few days now. Hopefully it goes away soon...but as far as effective, this method is effective.
I did this with "Get em off" artifical nail remover!! It took less than 10 minute with warm/hot water. Brilliant way of doing it! Many thanks for posting this!!!!!
Tip: I tried this with "Acetone: Nail polish remover" and they didn't come off all the way, even after 20 + minutes of soaking. I think the trick to this is getting the pure acetone.
OK to you my dear maker of this video , fantastic job and yes it does work very well and to take the fake nails off , as to goin to prof salon they would cut your nails and they arent very nice to them and usualy talk you in to geting new ones so this methed is not only safe and the proper way to take them off but it is fairly quick and works fantasticly . Thank You so much for the video and while the voice was quiet and the music little loud it was well made and you look very nice good job.
OMG .. Thank you sooo much .. I used your technique to take off my acrylics and my nails look super healthy like I never even had any acrylics on to begin with !! Super painless and easy to do !! Once again, THANK YOU !!!! :)
This video was helpful, but you really shouldn't wear low-cut shirts like that. Not only is it unflattering, but its unprofessional. I can't take anyone serious when they're dressed like that.
@SUPletsdanceee Um, go look at your own vids, you're wearing a shirt that's just as low-cut while singing at church. Oddly enough, while watching this video, I didn't notice her shirt was low at all until reading your comment.
@SUPletsdanceee does she look like she's trying to be a professional to you? clearly this is an at-home method. if you want professional go to a salon.
While your info is really useful and helpful, it would be better if you had not had music in the background, as its a bit distracting. Also, I think that the people saying it doesn't work didn't do it for long enough, so if you mentioned an estimate of the time it takes for the warm acetone to actually start working because "a while" is too vague. Other than those two little issues, thanks v much! :)
once u soaked your nails in the acetone and took them out and said they were done, it looked like they were still on. i hate using acetone, it doesn't work! i bite mine off. very painful though
Thank you so much! This was my first time having acrylic nails, and one came off on it's own, so I was ready to get them off. It took a little longer than expected, but it worked very well and wasn't painful!
again I apologize about the volume on this video everyone, it was my first one that I made and I didnt realize how low it was until after it was uploaded and the only way I could fix it was to redo the video...but my nails were already off...sorry!! :)
I just tried this and it worked well. However I had to use the pure acetone I found in the Walmart automotive area, as they did not have any in the beauty area. Also in my case it took about 20 minutes on the hand that had thinner acrylic. I have yet to do the other hand which is a little thicker. But my hand felt super dry when I was done with it. I also had to rub at the globby fake nail with another fingernail to get it off. After I used a buffer and shined it up and put lotion on.
I was going to write the same EXACT thing. So annoying to have that loud annoying music come thru during the transitions! Otherwise, it would have been a great video!
@musicmania1001 acetone is whats always used to remove fake nails, its not a good idea to use it all the time because it will really dry your nails out, but every now and then its ok, just like chocolate cake :)
@hbarnett101 nail polish remover would not work. Its not nearly as strong, it would take a very very long time. acetone is only a couple dollars however, its very worth it. because you can also use it as nail polish remover as well.
@shankiwa 1983 and @amandadoesmakeup Isn't it it funny about the comment stating you shouldn't use plastic? The bottle acetone is sold in is in plastic. Thanks for the info Amanda. : )
oh my goodness- if there was a nail take-off award- it would have been giving to you!! I tried it- way easier- desn't not hurt at all!! i recommended this anyone have acrylic over their natural with no tips like me!! it just came off - i did file it and put cuticle oil over my whole nail-(that just me- do not follow me-lol) girl you won my vote on this way off taking off nails!! all i can is wow!! okay talking too much- but just want you to know you made my day!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial.....I had acrylic nails and I was always ripping them off....Since I watched this tutorial I removed my acrylics and it was pain free and quick....thanks again :)
@Lois1593 thats odd, was it pure acetone, and did you use like a strong ziplock bag, not just one of those flimsy sandwich bags? I haven't heard of that happening before.
@shanikwa1983 It did not eat through my bag any time I have done it. & yes it will dry your nails a little, but this is a quick fix not something they you do everyday so its not harmful, just like eating a cheeseburger. I also suggested in the video that you use a strengthener on your nails right after to help your nails because they will be weak after having the acrylic nails on them no matter what method you use to take them off.
@shanikwa1983 i'm a manicurist and work with acetone every day too, sorry but you have your facts wrong. acetone is indeed corrosive, but is stored in plastic containers, sold in plastic containers, NEVER glass, NEVER metal. Might want to take another chemistry class dear, terrible info.
i'm def gonna try this. NEVER do i want to go to a salon to have my acrylics removed! They didn't soak my nails in anything, clipped the tips, stuck another fake nail between my nail & the acrylic & simply turned & POPPED it off. Bad 1st experience w/ acrylics being removed.
@x3rhix3 depending on how lifted your nails already are it could take 7-15min, just remember to use a cotton ball to help pull away some of the tackiness during that time.
thanks for this video! Can you do a 'neutral eye with a pop of color' makeup tutorial? :) I love doing this look and wanted to see how you'd do it? :)
just so you know for future videos that you make, it's a real pain in the ass to have you talking really softly so you have to turn the volume all the way up, and then crappy music blaring the next second. might want to even out the sound levels.
@isjosef I was going to write the same EXACT thing. So annoying to have that loud annoying music come thru during the transitions! Otherwise, it would have been a great video!
@pensive247 ok thank you for your opinion, the heat does help. you can look it up or ask your instructors, I have already gone to school for it and been out for a long time, so I have plenty of experience and know what I am talking about. & I never said "saw" your nails, that obviously would make no sense and be bad for your nails, this is why I said to do it in a one motion, and I am going from side to center in the video...but thank you.
WTF? I'm pretty sure the heat doesn't do anything. Just saying the acetone is as strong as it will be the heat doesn't "activate" it. It doesn't need an activator. By the way, I'm in school for this right now.
@stayyxgold have your nails already lifted naturally? Thats odd that they have not come off by doing this, try taking a file & filing the top down to make it less thick after the polish & top coat are off.
Thank you so much I was watching this with my Mom and yes my nails look exactly like urs in the beginning. So I guess I do need to take them off thanks again! ;)
Thank you very much. How long do you sit in the acetone? You said a little while and it took five minutes to remove all. I'm confused. This was a great vide.Next time could you lower the music? It's very distracting.
@VaisaNacia Depending how long your nails have been on for will determine how long your nails will have to soak, the more they have naturally lifted the less time you will need in the water Yes, sorry about the music and the volume being so low, I didnt realize it until i had uploaded it because I was using headphones when I was editing the video together. & after that my nails were off, so I could not re-do it :)
@IndianGurl107 its not a good idea to reuse the acetone because as your nails soak gunk from your nails will come off into the acetone. but as I had said, the acetone is very inexpensive at only around $3 for a bottle, and will give you enough for 4-5 uses. :)
@thaypink123 it will work best with acetone, you can find it for only $2 at walmart or any drugstore or beauty store, finger nail polish remover will take you a lot longer to take off. :)
for some reason, this did not work for me. My nails won't budge even a BIT after soaking for 15 minutes, but the hot acetone realllly jacked up the skin on my hands. ugh =(

WTF? I'm pretty sure the heat doesn't do anything. Just saying the acetone is as strong as it will be the heat doesn't "activate" it. It doesn't need an activator. By the way, I'm in school for this right now.

Is there another way to do this? I did exactly what you did, twice, and my acrylics still haven't come off whatsoever.

@stayyxgold have your nails already lifted naturally? Thats odd that they have not come off by doing this, try taking a file & filing the top down to make it less thick after the polish & top coat are off.

& after that my nails were off, so I could not re-do it :)

can you re-use the acetone ?
IndianGurl107 1 year ago
@IndianGurl107 its not a good idea to reuse the acetone because as your nails soak gunk from your nails will come off into the acetone. but as I had said, the acetone is very inexpensive at only around $3 for a bottle, and will give you enough for 4-5 uses. :)

what if i take it off with nail polish remover will that work ?
thaypink123 1 year ago
@thaypink123 it will work best with acetone, you can find it for only $2 at walmart or any drugstore or beauty store, finger nail polish remover will take you a lot longer to take off. :)
