I doubt Calzaghe would have beat a prime Hopkins,even this version of Hopkins made it awfully close,Joe's workrate would've been a problem anyways,but I don't think he beat Hopkins being at his best, prime Roy Jones?too much speed and athleticism for Calzaghe.

In terms of Hopkins I dont see what would have been different with a younger Hopkins. Hopkins wouldnt have been able to outwork Calzaghe and would not have been any more crafty when younger. I believe Hopkins had as good a chance of winning at that stage as at any other

Calzaghe had his chance to be big, someone important, a fighter that could have achieved greatness by fighting Jones, Chad Dawson, Kelly Pavlik, Hopkins, Jackson and McClellan, but instead we saw Pudwill, Veit, Salem and many others like them. For me, that puts Calzaghe as the worst champion ever.

He didn't lose to Hopkins, dude. He won the fight and got the decision. It really doesn't matter whether you or anyone else think Hopkins won, because he lost the decision to Calzaghe in his home town to home judges. If he wanted to win he should have finished him easily if he was such a bum, or at least won convincingly.

hopkins clearly won the fight.. calzaghe threw a million punches that barely landed.. but calzaghe whooped roy jones jr's assssss.. but the hopkins fight was at most a draw.. they gave the fight to joe because he was undefeated and they didnt want him to suffer a draw or loss in a weak fight..

lets talk facts here, hopkins turned calzaghe down in 2002, whether or not he was past his prime is irellevant he was the number 1 light heavyweight when calzaghe moved up, if he'd have fought glen johnson everyone wouldve said why not hopkins? hopkins was so passed his prime that he gave the 'next big thing' an absoloute beating. he was 17 years older than pavlik, only 7 years older than joe. where are you posting on pavliks pages? you my friend need to get a life, this is just sad sunshine

Calzaghe was scared of his mind to fight Hopkins. He tried to act all tough like he wasn't afraid. He didn't do that against Roy, cause he knew he had him. Hopkins is the harder man and the better fighter. History will reflect as such.
