Well, this attack happend during the parade of the Queen. The only people who were near this at the time were police officers, Marechaussee officers and some Red Cross employees, who were there to guard the route and the royals. They gave the first aid untill, after 5-6 minutes ambulances and some later a emergency-helicopter arrived.
There has never ever been an attempt to do anything against the queen, so it was not expected. There were guards and police and fences to protect the route, but this man drove through them all.
It's correct that the safety is not 100%, but an attack on the Royal Family is the last thing we would expect, since they are an exceptional good example of citizens.

Attack at the Dutch Queen Parade in Apeldoorn. 6 people where killed, including the driver of the Suzzuki Swift and 13 where injured. Driver of the car is also heavy injured.

Oh I know...I think sometimes we are just too shielded. I mean, nobody needs to see someone bleed out on the street on the news...but out of sight, out of mind. We forget real easily the car pileups that kill dozens of people when all we see is the mangled cars...but I once saw the dead body of a decapitated woman in her convertible before she was covered, and damn do I drive safer as a result of it!

Then in the desc. it says 6 people killed including the driver.
THEN again in the desc. it says that the driver was heavily injured, so like, is he dead, or injured. =/
