It's all about speed for any class.Higher Endurance means you can wear stronger,heavier armor and still move fast.Role playing is fine but in DS it's best to play to survive.No point in wearing leather if you can wear something with better defense and still roll quickly.

@colinthenewfie Is a vagrent crab a small crab like creature with a black stone inside and when you kill it, it drops a humanity?

I ask because I was playing a new character and at the Taurus demon i went up the tower to kill the crossbow hollows and a saw this weird crab like creature. I killed it and got a humanity but I was wierded out by it as I have never seen one before.

to pull off the critical backstab, when you get behind the enemy don't hold the left analog stick, let go of it and just press R1.... usually works for me

There's a blacksmith below the Firelink Shrine... Find stairs that go downwards, 'till you reach a place with many Hollows... You should find a prisoner along the stairs in the area, just look around...

One thing. Armor that is heavier doesnt always have more armor points, but instead allows you to just attack through enemies moves. For instance if you are in the middle of a swing and an enemy hits you when your in chainmail, you will finish the attack. Higher the poise, the better this gets

The back stab hit is harder to pull off when in open combat then the parry and the counter attack. The parry/counter hit tends to kill most foes in one go, but you got to get the timing of the L2 button and the R1 button to pull off the critical counter.

A hint of advice, no matter what kind of armor you're wearing, a killing blow is going to be a killing blow either way, it's better not to burden your character with heavier armor, because even with the heavier armor, you will die. Try evading more, especially as a thief.

@GabesFromDeeperSeas I will second this. Since you went thief you should probably go back to some of your starter gear for now since its so light weight and you can dodge everything...and your dagger backstabs crit for more than your spear BTW. If you want a heavier wep instead of a dagger I reccomend buying bow/arrow and shooting the tail off the dragon, the drake sword is AMAZING.

@SRTtoZ The biggest issue with the Drake Sword is the fact that it doesn't gain any damage from you stats. Your Strength and Dexterity could be 99, or just enough to wield it, and it will do the same amount of damage. Also, the only way to upgrade it is with Dragon Scales, so it's hard to upgrade. It's a great sword for the beginning of the game, but eventually, you'll want to get something better.

Leather is usually worse yes, i think the reason why yours is better than the chain is because you used BLACK leather.

@poisonkisses3 better to save them and give them to framptz later, they give 200 and 400 each (undead och large undead) BUT when u give them to framptz u get 500, so as I said, better to save and give to him =)

@bjmredeemer Merchants are very rare in Dark Souls so when you kill one you basically bone your self with a big one.

I was playing offline today on ps3 and the game made a dark invader attack me and gave me summons before a boss... those summons are useless though besides a distraction

buy bow and arrows here.. to get drake sword later... just hit the dragon's tail .. to get the sword from bottom level.

If you're gonna be light, learn to evade.

If you're gonna be heavy, learn to block.

Appearantly there's a middle ground between light as a feather and heavy as a brick in this game. Gonna have to try this "Medium" weight playstyle out a bit when I get my copy tommorow ^.^

Actually I can't play online because I don't have gold membership. You can definitely play offline but you cannot see other players messages or deaths and that kind of thing.
