This man is not right when he talks about very little risks using a cell phone - he speaks like people payed by the mobil-industry. The risks of cell phone use are high. If you take brain cancer people who starts before the age of 20 years face a 520% increased risk. Adults 270 %.
"Change management" is just a scheme to impose the will of management on employees with minimal backlash and protest. Nowhere is the issue of fairness, justice or exploitation ever discussed. The term "change" is the propaganda vocabulary used by the corporate elite to disguise the nature of what they are really doing, namely... everything they can to leverage as much power and money for themselves at your expense. As employees, you are an insects... waiting to be squashed.

I wake up in the morning with the motivation of bottom line profit and share value. I think he is wrong - I also think he is a socialist or should I sAY CORPORATE SOCIALIST -There are a lot of socialists about doing Capitalist jobs. Thats why the world economy has stalled. Rule no 1 in Capitalism. "The organisation comes first because it feeds and clothes you" Rule no 1 in Corporate socialism" If the Organisation wont feed and cloth me, the taxpayer will"!
Treating customers and co-workers like human beings with wants and needs instead of like cogs in a machine or stepping blocks to your own success - if that equates to "socialism," then so be it.
Patrick, as a business leader myself I'm thrilled to see your emphasis on values and ethics as opposed to strategy and numbers. All power to you and those mature leaders and organisations that choose to listen and implement value-based change.
"A world which is so radical that small numbers of activists seem to gain huge power"?
The only radicalism I see is that of the privileged elites in power, particularly that of the Western governments. They are the ones that have condoned the mass slaughter of millions abroad to take control of the vast resources in strategic areas of the world.
It is the activists that want power to the people to stop the 'profits before people' mentality of those that govern us, that are the moderates.
Interesting - well of course governments are run by or heavily influenced by activists and usually relatively small numbers of activists have a huge impact. Same in traditional media campaigns and in online communities.
Except that anyone not in keeping with the doctrinal line - that business interests must be upheld at all costs - is marginalized & given too little coverage for their dissenting views in the mainstream.
Anybody with such a dissenting viewpoint would never get the backing of the vested interests in the mainstream media (owned by rich elites), let alone the financial backing to project them into any position of real power.
Clearly you are obsessed with endorsing an Anti-American mentality and envy those with money/power. Money doesn't always equal corruption. Your hate narrows your vision and poisons your mind. When the bill came, I decided not to tip the waiter because he was wearing an Obama T-shirt. I explained to him after i ate that I wasn't going to tip him but I was going to redistribute his tip to someone that I deemed more in need, specifically the homeless guy outside. He stood there in disbelief, then angrily stormed away.I went outside, gave the homeless guy $5 and told him to thank the waiter inside.Wonder how the waiter liked that "change".
Now if you were to have stiffed the owner of the resturant $5 and gave $2 to the homeless man outside and $3 to the waiter would have been representing the the idea much better. Obama has never talked about taking from waiters... in fact I think one way he put it was "People like you and me are doing quite well... would it hurt me so much to pay a bit more than the waitress over there who is struggling to make rent.

P Dixon, I am Adjunct Professor teaching Management Courses at a local community college here in Northern VA. My students are required to view videos relating to each chapter in the Mangaement Book. I found that they enjoy (youtube) insteading of me -placing a video in the DVD. They view you-tube and write a one page paper on the Speaker. I selected you, you have so much insight and appear to be passive about your topics.
Thanks - glad your students are enjoying videos. A gift to you but I ask only one favour which I think should be part of their course. Great for each student to make an informed comment eg here: own opinion on issues raised. Also rate each video they watch for quality / usefulness - top right stars. That will be a public service helping other students find what is useful, and Google / YouTube to select appropriately. I will try to reply their comments if they include "NVA course" so I know.
Also if they favourite the videos they like most in terms of the course they are doing, it really sends a powerful signal helping other students find the same videos quickly.
I agree to what you say. BUT: Passion is nothing without the appropriate communication and motivation skills. Todays leaders need knowledge about the psychology of humans. As Nefiodow says in "The 6th Kondratieff":
I appreciate your speech very. I am personlly intersted in the toptic about Supply chain management and business process management? I like to hear more about that from you.
Thanks - I have made several supply chain management videos. Press turquoise blue banner top right and go to all my videos and search for supply chain and you can watch them all. I will add more so press yellow subscribe button top right.
Thanks very much! Am speaking this weekened to 4,500 in Las Vegas, but will reach a larger audience through YouTube etc. Just let me know what kind of videos, topics you want to see and I will see what I can do - another 800 videos are in my mind so far.
Yes all my material is free to all students, executives, business school MBAs, senior business leaders etc. Please remember to subscribe using the buttom on top right of the videos so you get notice of the new videos I post. Also enjoy the other videos and the globalchange main site (11 million visitors) linked from my youtube main page - press the turquoise banner top right.
i do not clearly understand the other statements because i am not that familiar with the accent, i learn how give importance to people you work with, and learn to understand their own feelings
I watch this video always when Im stuck and it brings me back on track. It is wonderful how you transport the message with an outstanding bodylanguage.
Thanks so much - I have been adding more videos on motivation and leadership - if you go to my videos - top right box on this page - you will find more - just type motivation or leadership into the lower of two search boxes. Patrick Dixon
While I believe meeting workers personal needs improves productivity, I don't think it is a viable task for any large company. Corporations want reliable machines/cogs. Anything deviating from the ideal makes management nervous.
Depends on country and culture.... look at every high performing company and you will find a common thread which is the ability to generate passion for corporate objectives amongst teams and workers.
If you like the video remember to Rate it, Favourite it, and SUBSCRIBE - top right yellow button. Rate and Favourite help others find things and you will also get my new videos - 193 posted already. Patrick Dixon
Seriously what drives me to do business? to do service to others, even though all enterprises aim to gain big profit, but not many I would say, it's just the beautiful thing to be a master, but a servant. I think owners have alot of work too, as much as the agents, but they shouldn't lose contact with one another, I don't know if it is easy or not, butany how this presentation was awesome.
Thanks - glad you found this motivation / leadership video helpful... enjoy the other 200 videos and do remember to rate those you find helpful. Patrick Dixon
For this and many other reasons, corporations are increasingly having to look at how they operate. However, if a team member feels uneasy about how things are done it is vital that this is communicated in the right way, not aggressively or arrogantly, but in a spirit of wanting to understand why things are done this way, and wanting to suggest a better way. I have seen many situations where things have changed as a result.
In many corporations it is part of the job to be alert to ethical problems and violations, because they can really damage a corporation. Patrick Dixon
Someone i know had a meeting with one of the biggest organizations in the world(where He worked)and pleaded with, presented reasons, and argued ethical problems concerning their management process .Alls that did was just made him a target-to the point of almost firing him.For heavens sake don't rock the boat-Just pass the buck-seems to be their motto. He's cynical. He doesn't even want to go into management now seeing as how he can't even make a change ethically in his current work description.
Those with the most talent are the ones companies most need to be successful - and they also have most choices, find it easier to leave a job if uneasy about ethics.
Keep looking on google, and you don't need to major in genetic engineering. You can major in biology or chemistry or engineering. Your major does not make a difference when you are looking for a research job as long as you get good grades and understand what's going on
well my life style has changed a lot in 10 months and I have no idea what I want. I like genetics but I dont think it would be the right kind of job for me, thing is I've come to the relization I hate microscopes and in GE that is a rather big part of it. Also my current major ME is slowly showing that I have more of an interest than I want to work doing it. On the other hand my intrest in Architecture is returning. really dont know whats going on but I have 6 months to chose if I want to change
I have decided to hold my own online seminar and you're all invited. It will be a motivational affair titled "How To Make All Your Dreams Come True By Inserting A Gerbil Into Your Best Friend's Left Nostril"
After the seminar there will be an opportunity to purchase my latest self-help DVD called "Bigger Butt-Cookies In Only Two Weeks."
I belive in learning from the best, like Steve Jobs. Thats why Ive created my blog 10ceos.blogspot.comto share the lessons, tips etc I ´ve read on the web from the best CEOs like Jack Welch, Larry Page, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Sam Walton, etc. Hope You Like it!
Thanks for your kind words - audiences around the world are really responsive to this approach to business leadership, motivation and to making things happen. Patrick Dixon
Do remember to have a look at my main site globalchange dot com for hundreds of presentations and other resources including text of several books - all available free of charge to help you in your business. Patrick Dixon
fine, even his percentage of bringing difference in life of others is 1:4, then on attending of 25 people to his siminar he has changeh positively the life ot 4+ people who in turn may add numbers further
Well life is too short to spend all of it on things that you do not feel are important. Like most of every audience I speak to I also give time to things I really believe in - around half of my time goes to the international AIDS agency ACET which I started 20 years ago. Patrick
Seems you made a career on trying to pump people up on a corporate cause that you could give two S**ts about. Your a charlatan that is rich and now has nothing better to do than relieve his guilt by giving himself to a charity. Give to the homeless of this country first, Mr Moral Compass...
It is amazing the positive reaction I get to these kinds of thoughts - the great majority of every audience I speak to gives time or money or both to causes they feel passionate about - huge lesson for business. Patrick Dixon
Fantastic this is what a confident trainer looks like.I looked at this so many times.I surely like the material but I love the way he present it & his body language.Thank you so very much for posting this.

Thanks

Thanks - glad your students are enjoying videos. A gift to you but I ask only one favour which I think should be part of their course. Great for each student to make an informed comment eg here: own opinion on issues raised. Also rate each video they watch for quality / usefulness - top right stars. That will be a public service helping other students find what is useful, and Google / YouTube to select appropriately. I will try to reply their comments if they include "NVA course" so I know.
pjvdixon 3 years ago
Also if they favourite the videos they like most in terms of the course they are doing, it really sends a powerful signal helping other students find the same videos quickly.

I agree to what you say. BUT: Passion is nothing without the appropriate communication and motivation skills. Todays leaders need knowledge about the psychology of humans. As Nefiodow says in "The 6th Kondratieff":

Not really sure I got it. Sorry.
jurgenphd 3 years ago
I agree. There was a big segway/gap.
While I believe meeting workers personal needs improves productivity, I don't think it is a viable task for any large company. Corporations want reliable machines/cogs. Anything deviating from the ideal makes management nervous.
Avolkiteshvara 3 years ago
Depends on country and culture.... look at every high performing company and you will find a common thread which is the ability to generate passion for corporate objectives amongst teams and workers.

Seriously what drives me to do business? to do service to others, even though all enterprises aim to gain big profit, but not many I would say, it's just the beautiful thing to be a master, but a servant. I think owners have alot of work too, as much as the agents, but they shouldn't lose contact with one another, I don't know if it is easy or not, butany how this presentation was awesome.

is that great advise?
losetoborn 3 years ago
For this and many other reasons, corporations are increasingly having to look at how they operate. However, if a team member feels uneasy about how things are done it is vital that this is communicated in the right way, not aggressively or arrogantly, but in a spirit of wanting to understand why things are done this way, and wanting to suggest a better way. I have seen many situations where things have changed as a result.

In many corporations it is part of the job to be alert to ethical problems and violations, because they can really damage a corporation. Patrick Dixon
pjvdixon 3 years ago
Someone i know had a meeting with one of the biggest organizations in the world(where He worked)and pleaded with, presented reasons, and argued ethical problems concerning their management process .Alls that did was just made him a target-to the point of almost firing him.For heavens sake don't rock the boat-Just pass the buck-seems to be their motto. He's cynical. He doesn't even want to go into management now seeing as how he can't even make a change ethically in his current work description.
mamamialove 3 years ago
Those with the most talent are the ones companies most need to be successful - and they also have most choices, find it easier to leave a job if uneasy about ethics.

this is MagWolf11. Sorry that this is not based on this video but i cant pm without being a friend
I had posted a lot on your video "what is genetic engineering?"
i just saw your segment on Science Chanel (Humanze)
i had completely forgotten about your videos until now
i was originally hoping to minor in GE with a major in ME, but my current school doesnt offer GE as a minor or major
i was hoping you would know of a website that i may be able to study the basics of GE in a class like manner
MagWolf11 3 years ago
Sorry I don't know what to suggest. Patrick Dixon
pjvdixon 3 years ago
Keep looking on google, and you don't need to major in genetic engineering. You can major in biology or chemistry or engineering. Your major does not make a difference when you are looking for a research job as long as you get good grades and understand what's going on
MadPutz 3 years ago
well my life style has changed a lot in 10 months and I have no idea what I want.

Ok, let's see. If he does, let's say 10 seminars, each ticket 25 dollars and in each seminars, conference, they'd be about 1,000.
Yes, I do believe he could do 40k a year. Common sense. Check out how manys seminars he does and for whom.

Well life is too short to spend all of it on things that you do not feel are important. Like most of every audience I speak to I also give time to things I really believe in - around half of my time goes to the international AIDS agency ACET which I started 20 years ago. Patrick

Motivation comes from the passions we all have to make something happen, make a difference. Leadership happens when people connect with those same passions, want to go where we are going and trust that we know the way ahead.
