@Mjolbaggar The mistake he made was getting into the ring with the greatest boxers in the history of the sport and getting old. How exactly does his state now prove your point?
@Mjolbaggar Well if he had bad defense and made lots of mistakes he must be the most fucking amazing boxing ever because he still beat everyone. You spend 20 years in the ring with the hardest punchers in history there is only so much defense you can put up guy.
@Mjolbaggar Most boxers who fight as long as Ali just don't live to be as old as him and certainly didn't stay in there with the level of boxers he was constantly facing.
@adrenacrumb Wille Pep had over 200 fights and fought the best of his devision and he was in top shape untill the day he died. When I rate a boxers skill i rate his Offense, defense, heart and chin. Ali had everything exept defense.
@Mjolbaggar I'm not going to take anything away from Pep but he was a featherweight, he didn't fight people that could break your ribs. Ali in his prime was a great defensive fighter, he was hardly touched. Any expert I have heard talk aobut Ali says he was one of the great defensive fighters, do you have any proof other than how he turned out when he was 60?
@Mjolbaggar He took a lot of punches on purpose, he wanted to prove he was tough enough to take a beating and still stand as well as use defense. Not sure how you say the man had poor defense though.
id say foster did pretty well against ali considering he was older, and the weight he was giving away, he nailed him with some pretty good shots and even cut ali.
the skinniest guy to fight Ali is the only one to cut him, kind of ironic
