@secundadonna Students would have to pass the licensure test in their jurisdiction, but as graduates from our four year Civil Engineering program, they should qualify to take the test.
@secundadonna Im a electronic engineering technologist. When people ask what i do i just say i'm a electronic engineering tech. But a lot of people including most of my co-workers who are electrical engineers call me a engineer, not a engineering tech.
@secundadonna Most states will allow Engineering Technology graduates to take the PE exam. At the end of the day if the straight engineering and the engineering technology graduates both take the PE exam and both pass it, how do you tell the difference?
@secundadonna Furthernore, there are a wide range of Engineering Technology programs out there. If you look at the diffference between a community college degree and one from a school like Purdue, Pitt or Wentworth it is akin to comparing an apple to an orange. The big name schools have excellent Engineering Technology programs, many of which exceed the requirements of straight engineering science programs from even some well known schools. The degree only gets your foot in the door...
