I feel like they could've done more for the camera angles, like external cameras or fixed cameras at certain points throughout the track. But Ken Block really is amazing.

okay don't get me wrong here, I think Ken Block is a good driver, as is every pro driver, but I think the majority of people could pull off all of his maneuvers with a little bit of practice in a car that someone else paid for that they don't give a isht about. Just my .02
There are several maneuvers that lots of people can do with some practice however not with the same precision as Ken. To give you an example, in his first gymkhana when he does circles around the guy on the segeway (or w/e its called). Anyone with some practice can do circles around the person but not with that precision and close distance.
But then again, I assume 90% of the people can't drive manual so technically a lot people can't pull off these maneuvers in Ken's cars heh.
Tis sad that few people in North America drive standard. I think it's the generation behind us who favored the automatics. Now everyone grows up driving autos and simply don't know how to drive stick. It's not that we don't want to, every guy i've know who drives stick will never go back to automatic.
Seeing on your channel that you're 19, I do not doubt that most people you know think they will never go back to automatic. At that age I though I would never go back as well. However, I'm turning 30 soon and I am currently driving an automatic. I had my fun in my old old MT Civic Si but today I live in a city and everyday I have to go through stop and go traffic, even on highways to get to work. It's just not fun anymore and the cons and this point outweigh the fun.
Well my parents both drive stick so i grew up driving stick. They have not grown tired of it, but you do make a point. I suppose I may get tired of it after a while. However i cannot imagine ever having any sort of performance car that is automatic.
Good point. However, the high end performance cars are automatic. You probably heard of the twin clutch gearbox. There is wide variety of cars ranging from EVO X MR, Nissan GT-R, Ferrari F430 and so on that have this transmission. Well they are actually two manual transmissions but since they shift for you, most people consider them automatics.
Wow, I just noticed how much YouTube really messes up the video. Sorry about that guys. I would just say watch it on our site, the quality is a lot better. Sorry...
I was gonna agree with you... but then I watched the vid... lol, I wouldn't call him an ass. The quality was absolutely terrible in many parts... could barely even tell what was happening. haha, that's not hating at all. Thats just truth.
you have to be fucking kidding me...what is your definition of a pro driver? He is a fucking rally champion and driver, is on a team, is sponsored, has skills beyond belief, you are a real prick.

that wasnt real gymkhana.... look up the definitions and then watch real gymkhana.

@ReedAndrewSutherland
Who said this was a gymkhana? I said "in his first gymkhana" because he has two. This is video is more of an autocross type of driving.
c0nv1ct1337 2 years ago
nah, this is gymkhana. You dont do donuts around cones in autocross.

@c0nv1ct1337 90% of people? Do you mean 90% of americans?
aMaserJohnson 2 years ago 2
Point taken. However, due to my observations most richer countries like UK, France, Germany, etc are starting to "convert" to automatics.
c0nv1ct1337 2 years ago
These maneuvers are pretty difficult. Ken Block just makes it look THAT easy.

bentley8787 3 years ago
how the hell does he know whre to go? all the cones are down.
Juice14G 3 years ago
That's how he knows where to go. The cones laying down point to the side to pass on.
matw8 3 years ago
And the tire marks of course
heeschenaar0412 3 years ago
Except that won't work for the first few runs will it ;-)
BTW the clip says "Gymkhana" but that's not really correct. Motorkhana is more accurate, or alternatively Autocross. Gymkhana is an equestrian event.

Thanks for the information Mat!

Looks almost like an SCCA ProSolo at the first half, then he starts doing loops around a pin cone and then I realized it was a gymkhana... Very cool.
