  • Starting at 5:50 what are the big fat chords Joe is using to propel the wall of sound? Thanks

  • Can someone tell me what chords Joe is struming starting at 5:50 ? Thanks

  • 240p... We meet Again....

  • Joe Satriani is an inspirational human being. When I am listening to Joe, I am listening to the infinite possiblities of the human mind.

  • Cada vez que veo videos de Satriani no puedo evitar hacerme una pregunta. ¿Hasta dónde se lava la cara?

  • If you are really a music lover then you must be loving Joe....I wish he lives a millions years.

  • what an atmosphere 8)

  • have no one better than jeff campiteli for drums with satriani, just don't exist

  • @yehonathan true that

  • @yehonathan joe n jeff got that connection..that no one has

  • Joe, you are the epitome of musical genious. Enough said.

  • who the fuck are any of you to say who is better? How do you even make that judgement? Music is an artform and therefore subjective, so while you may like one thing more than another, that doesn't make it better. If you want to compare who is better at something, go watch sports, where the winner is better for that moment.

  • @665AlmostEvil100 Exactly.......Nobody is better....just different. Yes Joe is "better" than me. but not "better" than another artist of his caliber. I, personally, would rather listen to Joe than Steve Vai....And some fruitcakes will want to fight over that. It's something I just don't understand.

  • Steve Vai and Joe Satriani are totally different players. Vai is much more eccentric more technically oriented (much like Zappa), and Joe is much more melodic and musical. Where Vai is furiously fast and frenetic, Joe writes great compositions and doesn't let his songs get taken over by technical demonstrations. Vai does his thing better than anyone, but Satriani's material demonstrates much broader flexibility of style and mastery of the guitar in it's various genre.

  • @kboydlake83 Well said.

  • For his speed and fluidity what really sets him apart is the fact that he can go really simple and evocative and push out those great melodic passages.

  • Great beat something you have to really listen to to get a strong feel for it.

  • 3:22 - 4:09......uhhh holy shit

  • PERFECTION

  • THE 2 PEOPLE THAT DISLIKE THIS VIDEO NEEDS TO FALL IN A BLACK HOLE!!

  • とんでもねえ曲だ

    素晴らしい

  • ....just died hearing this video....then went to heaven...and then came back again to hear more....Joe, you have been to me the best guitarist of ALL TIME... Boston House of Blues 12/09/10...I lost my voice screaming....love you soooo, Joe....keep ROCKIN'....and keep lovin' what you do....you bless us all with your genious......(cry)

  • @capecodnut hey i was at that show too!! best concert ever. remember the keyboard/guitar duel? XD

  • @capecodnut You've obviously never heard Steve Vai.

  • @Xeldryn You've obviously haven't done your homework: Vai was a student of Satch's....look it up.

  • @capecodnut I already knew that.

Satriani isn't even half the guitarist that Vai is.

  • @Xeldryn To each his/her own... Peace! :-)

  • This DVD he made cooked, the drummer here is also kick ass good.

  • I remember Joe saying on the DVD on how Hendrix used to create a memorable experience for the listeners and the crowd on every show he played. IMO that's exactly how Joe plays these two shows. Undoubtedly one of THE best live performances ever... I only wish I'd been there myself. Well, there's always the DVD, right.

The outro and the outro solo... what can I say, gives me the chills. Every time. That's how good it is. What a masterful musician in every sense of the word.

  • i could hear that outro start at 4:40 over and over again it's my favorite solo of satriani ever!! user - arturct1 has a great version of this.

  • love that part 4:67

  • @420PeeJay Tis a wah pedal.

  • SATRIANI IS GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • I am totally obsessed with this guy. I want to meet him so badly!

  • Hey Joe. :))

  • I just came up with a new genre of music.....its called Joe

  • One of the greatest Joe's composition.

  • It's so easy to see why he loves to play this song live. When he was rehearsing with his band for the Super Colossal tour, they started jamming out on this song even though it wasn't part of the set list.

  • this man is definitely not of this planet!!

  • Este es el Dios de la guitarra!

  • SWEEETTTT another incredible song from you joe sat

  • 4:40 ;-)

  • The part with the whammy at the end, especially amazing

  • satch certainly pushed the boat on this song is so good i wana sell my guitar immediatly

  • amazing!! ive orderd the cd and dvd cant wait!!

  • Amazing!!

  • I think I read somewhere that this is Joe's favorite song to play live. Sounds awesome here, this whole DVD is incredible.

  • thank you mr. joe satriani

  • Satriani's chrome guitar was called "Pearly" cause it had pearly gates pickups in the neck and bridge (Duncans). It was stolen in Ft. Lauderdale a few years back.

  • someone got high and slacked for a bit and Whammo!!dam thats somethin'.....

  • so what. it's satriani. you hit the billboard top 100 when shitty hair metal groups and crappy pop music ruled. this guy paved the way for great instrumental music.

  • This concert is hilarious due to the fact that the audience practically dies nearing the end of the album. That and Satriani giving about 50 instroductions of his group to the crowd. I mean, he literally says that Stu Hamm is on bass at least 5 times.

  • why you watching then?

  • Cause I'm enjoying it obviously?

  • i disagree by your comments, you know this is awesome!!!!

  • egyptian tribute friggid scales

    0:47 0:58

    thath part is wow

  • i love the harmonics at the end

  • Like that bass part at 2:54 xD.

  • seymour duncan pickups ?

    mmm nice

  • Also, I saw a lot of you arguing if his guitar had a Seymore Duncan in the bridge.

This chrome boy had a SD Pearly Gates in the bridge, and this guitar has since been stolen from Joe Satriani. This guitar was nicknamed "Pearly" due the the SD pickup.

Joe has actually lost a few of his guitars, which is probably why we don't see him playing some of the rare ones much.

  • its name was chrome boy wasnt it?

  • I can't remember. I'm pretty sure "Pearly" was stolen from him. It got the name from the Pearly Gates pickups i that it had.

I can't remember if Pearly had the cut out jack slot or not though. You can probably find out all the info online if you really wanted to.

  • this is definetly chrome boy, but yeah, it was stolen as well

  • Satch should invest in some security.

  • Pearly was indeed stolen from Satriani and the bastard who did it should be really ashamed of him/herself. You are also correct that it was called Pearly because of the SD Pearly Gates pickup.

  • @yellowshirtguy

fair play id nick one of his guitars without hesitation lol

  • @shanghaiboy303 hahaha i love him but yeah i would to there orgasmic

  • @yellowshirtguy

It must be that bum on the stage playing bass stealing all the guitars, because thats an inside job, that doesn't happen randomly over and over again to Joe.

Look at him, he's dying to get some crack rocks even on stage, look at him, he must be selling guitars to his crackrock dealer.

  • @yellowshirtguy That's what joe gets for forsaking Dimarzio like that.

  • Was this the first song on the DVD, or an encore, or what?

  • yeah first song on the dvd... actually a double disk set...

  • oh cool.

I actually just ordered this DVD. Looking forward to seeing the whole thing :)

  • very cool dude... it really is an awesome dvd...I watch it at least once a week. =]

  • Once a week??

    wow.

  • first song

  • Love that tune.

  • 6/4

  • 6/4

  • When the first heavy bit starts, is it a 5/4 beat?

  • 6/4

  • 6/4

  • HE IS NOT FROM THIS WORLD!!!!

  • Do I spy Seymour Duncan Pickups @ 3:09?

  • Nah dude pretty sure those are Dimarzios

  • Nah man with a real close look that bridge pickup is a seymour

  • It is so nice to see such innovative genius such as Satch. Since metal guitarists are just shredding up and down the necks, destroying music. Satch is simply a genius. A legato god as well

  • Satriani's best composition (IMO)

  • one of the best at the very least thats for sure... he has so many good ones... who cares... go satch

  • i do !!!greets from Amsterdam

  • no words... just... wow...

  • magic

  • the king ,period end of story.

  • above 11...godrock lives.....open yer soulz....

  • Just wondering, I remember reading something about Satriani where he would occassionally have the habit of closing his eyes while he played, so some how this led to the sunglasses. I can't remember where i heard this...

  • UNREAL

  • epic performance

  • this man is not of this earth.he can do it all.

  • he went surfing with the alien, then he discovered the engines of creation while rdeing the waves. He then went to a place, not of this earth, where he flew in a blue dream.Once done he began to surf back, but came across a crystal planet, where he stopped and met the extremist. He then returned to earth to study with prof. satchafunkilus and learn about the musterion of rock. Thus he became sucsesful as the super collasally talented guitarist!

  • but he doe s strange beutiful music^^

  • nicely done...

  • So very true..I cant believe jealous cunts say hes not good?

Fucking ignorant peasants..Joe is ahead of his and our time!

  • Peasant? lmfao are you russian or somthing?

  • Not russian...australian...its my new word im using for really brainless fuckwits..y'know peasants had no schooling or education..there-fore comes the word==peasant...glad you laughed though..thanks mate..cheers Nick

  • @Himuneasy that is an amazing quote brother

  • @Himuneasy Don"t forget that he was escorted by redshift Riders on Crystal Planet ;)

  • @Himuneasy i'm just as high reading this, as you were when you typed this ;)

  • @Himuneasy How about...

While he was surfing back, some Wormhole Wizards created a black hole that took him to Crystal Planet?

  • @Himuneasy thats fucking nice man! :)

  • does anyone wonder how he could see in those glasses in the dark and still play perfectly!? mr. satch is just that awesome. XD

  • i was at this show, it was amazing

  • no fucking way!!! awsome!

  • Zakk Wylde ??? heheh you really have no idea what is a truly guitar genius do you ???

Zakk is a clow, and a phony.

  • Which is why I just stare in absolute awe when I see talented guitarists, like BB King, Eric Clapton, Eddie Van Halen, Zakk Wylde, Andy Timmons, Herman Li, etc.

  • zakk wylde and herman li, wow

  • bb?

  • music isn't about who's better and who's not. its about creating a series of notes and/or sounds that people generally enjoy listening to.

  • so true. thank you :)

  • Incredible Satch! 1 of the Best guitar players ever!

  • why? because we're complementing an artist whom we enjoy listening to? Trash talkers are the people without lives, dude. I'm sorry. It's the truth.

  • Surfing with the alien was my first taste of Satriani.Steve Vai won me over in David Lee Roths Skyscraper album. They both offer so much in their own special ways. You cant really put one in front of the other. They stand side by side above us all.We gaze in wonder.God bless them both.

  • they only stand above us in g3 gewez, jk absolutley true, we can only dream

  • oh and campitelli's chinas sound frickin sexy in the beginning!!!!

  • 6:12 sounds like a riff from a dream theater song to me

  • Sounds like a Greek Enharmonic to me.

  • i LOVE egyptian sounding rock songs!

  • every1, lets just stfu about comparing whos beter vai or satch, lets just say that their both great guitarists no, BEST guitarists in the world and that they must b gods extra sons

  • 10 stars from 5 :D

  • hh :)

  • I had never heard this, this song is crazy. To add onto the conversation here at the top about preference of players when it comes down to the greats: I appreciate both Satch and Vai exponentially. I find though that Vai's music isn't as user-friendly as Satch so I pick Satch over him. BUT, outside of these players I'd have to say I much more prefer the exotic styles of Marty Friedman and the versatility of Vinnie Moore.

  • Who is this guy?! Jonas Brothers are way better than him on their worst day - I never even heard of this guy before... Joking anyway... lol As with regard to comparing greats, when you are on their level it is only a matter of whose music you prefer more. As far as my personal preference, I pick Satch.

  • Fuck that, don't even say stupid shit like that

  • A lot of arguing about Steve and satch, Lets be honest they're both immense. As a guitar player (shit 1 tho) I'd love to play half as gud as either one of them!, But I do prefer satch, for the simple fact that satch writes great albums and I love most of the songs on each album but with Vai, I (BEING ME) find that I only like a few songs on Vai's albums. Not to take a way from vai he's technically better but I prefer a melodic writer like satch :)

  • both technique are good, both make good music and both are guitar gods lets just leave it at that?

  • my fave-songs of satriani are....ten words, time, super colossal, crowd chant, mind storm, devil's dance, ceremony, always with me always with u, flying in blue dream, echo, ice 9, searching, crushing day, speed of light, cryin'

AND THE FUCKING BEST SONG OF THE EARTHHISTORY IS????? HORDES OF LOCUSTS!!!!! BUT THE LIVE VERSION FROM DREAMING 11!

  • All this commentary that involves fighting and comparison undermines the artistic, emotional and technical achievements that these people strive for. To seek perfection and abhor the humanity cannot be fulfilling; applaud the human seeking their own ideal.

  • Sammy Hagar is forming a mega band with Satch and thinks their band will be comparable with Led Zeppelin. This is with Satch not Vai, obviously he could have worked with either...!

  • At the G3 shows Vai is Satch's "guest" and Satch is just being nice!

  • i saw him last night in royal oak. he is my jesus.

  • Jazzy:)

  • i think vai is the better player, but satch makes better music, this is just my opinion

  • satriani is much better:D

  • satch tought vai how 2 play guitar

  • yeah everybody already knows that

  • If Vai would play a dual against Vai, Vai would rip him to pieces purely on technique. I prefer Satch's music but his music isn't getting any better I must say. Surfing and flying are way better than all the others.

  • You said Vai twice, and ever heard of G3? Satch could surely hold his own technique wise, but the music would sound like shit (Vai) but look good. Satch can show off and make it sound good at the same time. This song isn't no easy breeze, let's see you play it.

  • Satch I mean of course. Sorry about that. I didn't say this was an easy song to play and Satch has a good technique but Vai is far more advanced in speed, appergios, sweep picking, etcetera. I already said I prefer Satch. I'm not a speedfreak. Jimi Hendrix is my all time favourite and he wasn't about speed either. Yes I've been to a G3 show, saw Satch twice in Amsterdam. and saw Vai three times, twice with the Metropole Orchestra. I can't do what Satch does but I certainly can't do what Vai does

  • Vai is technically good but he do to much acrobatic stuffs, thats why his music sounds sometimes strange. Satriani can do it too but he know when he should it to do watch "cool 9" "mystical potato" "crushing day"

  • Vai is technically good but he do to much acrobatic stuffs, thats why his music sounds sometimes strange. Satriani can do it too but he know when he should it to do watch "cool 9" "mystical potato" "crushing day"

  • You don't have to tell me anything about Satch because I have all his CD's, LP's and DVD's. Vai is technically better and that's all I want to say about that. I still prefer Satch's music and playing.

  • Thats your opinion and i respect it but i am of the opinion that Satriani have more experience in guitar playing and both are good guitarists but Vai is definitely not better than Satriani. Both plays stakkatos, Legatos, tappings and Sweeps...with the difference that Satriani know when he should it to use. To end, please dont forget that Satriani was Vais teacher.

  • As I respect your opinion as well. The fact that he taught Vai, doesn't mean he can't become 'better' than his teacher. He is also a bit older which gave him more experience. As I play the guitar myself, I have been looking very closely at their technique for many many years and I just feel I'm right but it is almost impossible to prove my point but I am absolutely convinced of it. It's absolutely not important because it is about music and not about speed and technique.

  • Better? No such thing with those two.

  • as far as legato goes, there is nobody better than joe!

  • damn hes like the master of modes

  • This is Problably the best Band Satriani has assembled in a live show he HAD sTU hAMM oN bASS tHE mAN jEFF ON dRUMS AND i fORGOT THE NAME OF THE GUY THAT PLAYS THE kEYBOARD AND THE gUITAR BUT HE PLAYED HIS BEST SONGS AT THAT POINT aND sERIOUSLY Stu Hamm is the Bass player satriani ever played with it sure aint Dave Larue

  • "The guy that plays the keyboards" is Eric Cadieux

  • yes we all know that

  • Steve may have better technique than Joe, but between them both I belive Joe sounds way better, Steve sometimes puts me off with his songs like, the song The Riddle....

  • True True

  • GREAT SONG, this is overrocked to the top, WOW. Talk about epic! Love the progressive/stages in the vibe. 4.40 - 6.10 is just soooooo awesome.

    CLASSIC SATCHAFUNKILUS!

  • Tue this song has one of the best Progressive/Stages in the vibe Ive ever heard

  • i like his shoes

  • maybe he sounds like vai because he was his master;)

  • I think the two are totally different. Satch is more expressive in his progressions and Vai is more technical. Both amazing musicians nonetheless.
