to all the fucking stupid soldier cuntz that were ignorant enough to go risk their lives for money-hungry cowardly politicians, corporations, banks, wall-street, ad nauseum.......you deserver to come back in a body bag. i only wish the manipulative corporate/government-owned media would have the balls to show ur corpses:) semper fi, eh?
baghdad1979 Thanks for your service. More Americans realize the sacrifices our men and women make. You are not forgotten. These guys were once considered punks, and anit-establishment, but in reality they are Americans with a different point of view-what this whole crazy shooting match was supposed to be about when they started it 240 years ago.
I remember in the 80s smoking outside a concert hall hours before the show. John came out and sat down on the curb next to me. I didn't realize it was him until later. The concert was great!
You forgot to mention the 1000s of Iraqis killed by the U.S. in the name of "freedom." I'm sure they're happy "free" souls now. America: Bringing freedom to the suffering nations all over the world by ... making them suffer some more!
S'matter kid? Got no other economic choices other than joining the arny? Keep fighting on behalf of those capitalists. Eventually, we'll all have even less choice and the wealth will be in fewer and fewer hands.
I remember one 4th of July in the 80's a Los Angeles radio station, KROQ played this every hour all day and through the night. It was great and I always think of this song on the 4th.
How great is this Dave Alvin song? If memory serves, David Chase used it in the closing credits of a "Sopranos" episode, the highest honor a song can receive.
Although I know that I should just buy the album, could someone post the studio version by X ? Come to think of it, did they ever make a video for it ?
Thanks for posting this...I've been looking for it for some time and I am amazed this is so obscure. I remember the song being on the radio (WLIR) in New York City in the early 80s. Wonderful lyrics. A real gem.
at least i "have" a mind, and am not just another stupid jar-head/societal sheeple. go back to europe, u fuck, where ur mutt-ass came from:)

@bapyou Stop acting like a drunk, your words are stupid. Iraq will be better off now than it ever had hope to be.
You're pathetic.
