My current computer's a standard Dell desktop and it is barely managing. It is about 6 years old. Will more powerful modern Dell desktop computer have a longer projected usable lifespan? Since I will be looking at the high end of the market I want to make sure that the computer will have a good future use. I am using some pretty cpu-heavy software and will probably continue to do so in my course and future jobs.
@tardiskeeper6 Sure. Advances in CPU technology and graphics card GPU technology can help to prolong its life for heavy computing purposes. It is important to remember that the software you are using will also advance as time goes on as it will try to take advantage of newer tech advances. You can always upgrade components to a point, but at some point the cost of upgrades will be a good portion of the cost of a new system, but lack the performance benefits.
