Simplicity is good...look at Three Days Grace! A lot of Sara Mclaughlan's songs are like this, so I wouldn't complain. They don't have to power through every song with their voice. I think this one is apropriate for that. Her voice does blend with the song because its so refined. Like Josh Groban, she doesn't stress her vocal chords.

Near To You by A Fine Frenzy is better as a New Moon song. It's perfect for Bella and Jacob.

I agree its impossible, she wrote it, and her voice is perfect for it; perfectly subdued for most of the song, shining out just a little bit for a few parts, and the emotion behind it is perfect. I totally love a fine frenzy, and I love "Almost Lover." I honestly think the song was one of the most amazing songs ever, WITHOUT being remixed. The remix is great though, for radio, television etc. But I must say, the original is much more hauntingly beautiful, because it's much slower, quieter, and more raw. It's leaving the song at true bare emotion.
