  • @Alan1076 I think they made a separate 10-key add-on. But I don’t think it lit up.

  • Comment removed

  • is it also for windows??

  • @MrMortjon No. The keyboard works on Windows with Luxeed's driver and software. But this software does not work on Windows.

  • @dominiccooney yeah im on windows and im typing this on the luxeed u5 but, how can i do that on my windows? how can i make it do things lie that??

  • @MrMortjon Unfortunately I don't think the U5 can do things like this. The model in the video is deTA 100. You could try contacting Luxeed support to ask them... Maybe post what you find out here.

  • remind me olds computers from olds films ;)

  • Helps a lot.

  • pretty cool besides the mac part

  • i want one :(

  • does this keyboard only work for MAC cpus?

  • @AsianRandomKid Out of the box the keyboard works on Windows, with different software supplied by Luxeed. This software I wrote makes the keyboard work on Mac OS X, but only on Macs with *Intel* CPUs (not Power PC.)

  • @5:35 cool way to make and enable gaming keyboard layouts or Photoshop and desktop publishing and macro shortcuts!

  • 7:22 WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW =D

  • beautiful! screw the platform trolls, this is a really nice project! it would be awesome if i could get this put in a clear Model M-type (because, well, i wouldn't use anything else).

    props for the drivers!

  • WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU??? Macs are the best, no viruses, hackers, or anything like that. Besides, they look great, and their graphics are the best. They completely own Windows XP and the failure Window Vista... If you have Windows 7, you have some nicer features (stolen from Mac) but whatever...

  • No Viruses?

    Macs do have viruses.

Its just that the community that uses that OS are alot smaller as opposed to Windows.

If you were going to kill as much cattle as you could and only had one shot, would you shoot it at a paddock of 100 scattered across the field, or 1000 bunched up in the same size cage?

I use macs as well, but both are good.

    Really its nothing to compare.

Apple is for hardware, Microsoft is for software.

    Thats just my 2cents.

No need to get so defensive, its the internet!!!

  • @denan30

Your right, I over reacted... Both OS are nice.

  • sounds great...

have you played any cool video games ...uh... I forgort... sorry, that was mean.

  • Linux > Windows + Mac.

  • @Averypop123

Stolen from Mac ???? You mean all the features that Apple stole from the Linux community ??? Apple is the biggest scam going. It's all PR and shiney hype. It steals all its ideas from others esp. Linux developments and has the same hardware found in Windows based PCs. Yeah, I've give you the shiney Apple part, but that's all its got. So basically, you bought into Apple for superficial hype. People who have real things to do use either Linux or Windows based PCs.

  • Apple stole everything on its OS systems from the Linux community. They are not original.

Apple computers are made with the same hardware as can get in any decent Windows based computer for less money than an Apple product.

Apple computers do get viruses. The reason hackers and scammers focus on Windows machines is because they represent 90 percent of the whole world in terms of computer use.

Apple is nothing more than hype/PR and superficial looks. Its designed for the shallow

  • eww mac OS, i'm surprised you even know what a keyboard is.

nice keyboard though, shame its wasted. <3

  • Not really, if this was a PC running Windows, then it would REALLY be wasted...

  • i agree.

  • @earthxmarkxtwo This software doesn't work with the U5, because I don't know how to drive U5 lighting via USB (I don't know if it is possible.) It works with the deTA. If someone sends me a RAMA I believe I may be able to make that work too.

  • i got mine from SRelectronicstore. c o m with free shipping yayy.

  • T_T i'm in asia i cant even touch it there...

  • so expensive:(

  • Is there a Windows equivalent to your program? I ask, because apparently my keyboard didn't come with any software and the Luxeed website is written in very bad English.

I have the U5 I believe, if that makes any difference.

  • This software is for the Luxeed deTA 100, the predecessor to the U5. It is for Mac only, because there's already software by Luxeed for Windows. I think the U5 is "programmed" on the keyboard itself; I don't think you can drive the U5 from software as I have done with the deTA 100 here.

  • While this video is indeed informative, the Luxeed U5 is fully compatible with all 3 operating systems, and has onboard programming. So yes, you can DEFINITELY buy a stock U5 and it'll work great.

  • However the U5 does not work with this software, so the effects you can achieve are different.

  • damn i want this so bad but they are so expensive, worth it but expensive lol!!

  • Wait, i just got the keyboard and I downloaded the software, but the effects have effect on the keyboard...

  • What effect does it have?

  • Actually what I meant was, I plug in my keyboard and start up Keyboard Themer. Then I check on an effect but nothing happens on the keyboard. It just stays blank. None of the effects work.

  • Do you have a U5 or a deTA 100? Are you using an Intel or PPC Mac? What version of OS X are you using?

  • I'm not sure about U5 or deTA 100 but I think I have an Intel Mac and I am running Leopard.

  • If you look at the Luxeed logo on the lower left of the keyboard, the deTA 100 has "deTA 100" underneath the logo (as in the video.) The U5 has three squares to the right of "Luxeed".

  • It is a U5 model

  • @Rcracer867 Ah... some people looked at the USB interfaces for the U5; I don't think it is possible to drive U5 lighting over USB. Sorry. I'll let you know if I find anything else out though.

  • So this IS compatible with mac?

  • @Rcracer867 Yes, it is. But Mac is not officially supported by Luxeed.

  • I just got it in the mail and love it!

  • This is available again on thinkgeek as of 12/18/09. It's going to go fast.

  • Hey does this have the "Spark" feature the windows one does, where when you hit a key it flashes?

  • Sure does.

  • where can I buy this keyboard then? (I have a windo¨ws)

  • I got mine from ThinkGeek.

  • amazing keyboard... :|

  • I wanted to see the Mexican Wave!

  • this only works on a mac?

  • The keyboard comes with Windows software which has other effects; the software I wrote only works on Intel Macs. I think the next version of the keyboard supports Mac, Windows and Linux.

  • а под слакой это работает?

  • Sorry, I don't know what "слакой" is. It works on Mac OS 10.5 on Intel Macs with a Luxeed deTA 100 LED keyboard. HTH.

  • :-)

    It's a kind of joke:

    "Does it work on Slackware".

And, i know, answer is "No by default".

  • use google mate

  • def cool, i think i wouldnt buy it cause, during the day, it looks weird. If it was a black keyboard with back lighting, but same idea as this, i think i would go for it. Just my idea.

  • There's a black version as well; I just happen to have the white one.

  • awesome, thanks for posting...i think i'm gunna buy it.

  • with every restart of Life, you should have a checkbox to chose a new randiom color. You're layers though is super cool. Write some sound responsive plugins. Or some that respond to network activity/cpu load/harddrive activity.

  • the target was valentines day... did you make it?

  • Yes--I've messaged you privately.

  • Wow! Funky lighting!

  • ...

    Cool

    I'm amazed!
