  • if you cant read or write then how do you know what to play then

  • @Musicfan8464 I play by ear. I listen to the song, get it stuck in my head, and then match notes on the keyboard while I hum it or whistle it. On occasion, for more complicated songs, I'll play the song over and over on my computer while I am matching notes on my keyboard. That helps me get the correct accompaniment for some of the more involved songs.

  • ah nostalgic i remember getting my game boy and getting kirbys dreamland P.S THIS ISNT FROM SUPER SMASH BROS IT WAS IN THE 1st KIRBY GAME 4 game boy (nt gameboy advanced, or color jst gameboy) AS THE 1st LVL SONG

  • Yea, I know that it originally came from Kirby's Dreamland. The first time I heard it, though, was in Kirby's Pinball for the gameboy. Loved that game.

  • so beautiful!! and I agree with what you said about the end of Brawls story mode. I imagined that happening and it was cute. I have a very active imagination when it comes to video games. I like to make up life stories about characters in games.I know. I'm weird lol. i also agree with @BlackOakStudios. =)

  • this is awesome! do you mind somehow making the audio like more high quality and putting a download link?

  • Probably. I'd have to re-record it, so I might get around to that whenever I pull out my recording rig again. ^_^

  • @ryukenosuke you should totally do that dude!

  • it's very good! please play it again and longer! it sounds so fantastic!

  • Sounds like kirbys epic yarn -(• •)- :)

  • I haven't played that one, yet. I should get it. ( : It looked fun.

  • This seems like a somewhat sad rendition of the song. It should be played in the end credits of a kirby game where the final boss turns out to be a friend.

  • King Dedede helping everyone out at the end of Brawl's story mode. ^_^ That'd be a good time for it.

  • @ryukenosuke Yeah. I loved brawl. I don't really have anyone to play against though. *hint*hint*

  • Lol, I haven't touched Brawl in quite a while. I need to get gaming parties going at my place, again. ^_^

  • Nope. Sorry. I taught myself how to play this by ear.

I made a tutorial, though. You should watch it. ( :

  • the keyboard shakes of total EPICNESS!!

  • Hahaha.

  • bäm.... absolute fantastic song... and it remembers me to kirbys pinball, too.

And now i can play it too...

    thanx very much...

  • You're very welcome. ( :

  • i havent lived in the gameboy age but ive played gameboy AND DAMN ITS GOOD!

  • For such a simple device, the gameboy certainly kept so many of us entertained for years.

  • @ryukenosuke ya it has i still play it

  • O THE MEMORIES OF GOOD OLD FASHION VIDEO GAMES.

  • No joke. There's nothing like the nostalgia of the music you used to listen to as a kid.

  • @ryukenosuke totally, them good ol days right? Somethings never die out, and music is one.

  • @ryukenosuke they are always good to listen to give me thumbs up

  • Thanks. ( :

  • @ryukenosuke i made a remix of green greens with mario paint how do i post it

  • If your Mario Paint is on your computer, you can download a program to record what you see on screen as well as what you hear from your speakers. There are plenty of those types of programs. If your Mario Paint is on the SNES, you can plug your SNES into a video capture device, such as a video capture card, or video capture USB tether.

  • @ryukenosuke whats the program

  • You could try free sound recorder. Just do a google search for it. That will record your audio. If you want to record what is on your screen, you can try Camstudio.

  • should be faster, but this version is nice and calming =)

  • I'm glad it was nice to listen to. ^_^

  • Are you God?

  • Yes. Yes I am. Please, just call me Alpha, though. I extend to you a ticket to heaven. FYI, it expires in 24 hours. ( ;

  • i love green greens

  • You and me both. ^_^

  • Nice!

and about it being a blessing and a curse, i've read that learning how to play by ear helps if you learn to sightread because you'll kinda know what key to play next, so don't give up on sheets :D

  • That's quite logical. I can definitely see that being the truth.

  • how long did it take you to get your good ear to tab this out

  • Hmmm...30 minutes? It's a fairly short song, and if you play enough kirby games, it gets stuck in your head quite easily.

  • this is beautiful, great job man.

    5 stars!

  • Thanks! ( :

  • Amazing!!

  • Thanks!!

  • Excellent playing :D

And I agree with you all about the blessing and the curse. I have transcribed chord tabs for more than ten years. It enabled me to play many songs by ear, but also rendered me sheet-music-blind. It did start to change as I dip into classicals these years - it takes quite some time for the unease to go away, but it eventually does.

But for a song like Green Greens, I'd print the score and... improvise. It just feels right.

  • amazing!!!!!

  • ^_^ Thanks for watching.

  • Lol I'm the same way, I play by ear as well.

  • It's a blessing and a curse at the same time. Hehe

  • how is it a curse i would love to have that talent!

  • It's a curse due to not learning the correct finger and hand placement to perform these songs efficiently. Also, learning by ear can take a while, where as a player who can read sheet music can pretty much sit down and play right away. Learning by ear will make it difficult to snag a professional gig for the entertainment business unless you have your own band. It won't work well for people playing music for media, such as TV and movies.

  • yes if you ever want to be able to play somthing without much practice, sightreading is what thats called, and to do that you have to read sheet music beyond advanced

  • Yea. I am quite impressed with people who can do that.

  • @ryukenosuke SO IS THE PLAINS THE MESOPOTAMIANS USED :D

  • Hahaha, nice. ^_^

  • wow you learned that in 20 minutes! Awesome job! 2 thumbs up!

  • It's a pretty simple song. Thanks. ( :

  • ure really good man. think u can work out rainbow resort? ive been itching 4 a tutorial of that song and u seem like u could make one really well

  • Ya know...maybe. The song seems kind of catchy, and that's what I like to learn to play. When I get a chance, I'll look into learning it.

  • that would b awesome man. really

  • Great job! (I have never played Kirby before so yeah)

  • It's reallllllllllllly easy if you can get the melody stuck in your head. Just hum it while matching notes on the instrument, and in no time, you have learned a song. Besides, most videogame songs are fairly simple and repetetive, so they are fairly easy to learn.

  • That's really good^^ Be sure to check out my version of ths, you'll find it in my channel ^-^

  • Thanks, and I just watched yours, too. Check out my comment. ( :

  • Is it okay if I post a video response to this? :) Just trying to get some more views^^

  • Absolutely. ( : You are more than welcome to do so.

  • Thank you so much :D

  • good old nintendo and their c scale rapage. awesome job man. i'll be using this to learn... hooopefully tomorrow depending on how quickly i learn the metroid song. i'm learning as many super smash brothers songs as possible this week

  • Hehehe, best of luck to you, mate. Oh, and I hope you didn't miss that I have a tutorial for this song. It is the video response for this video. Check it out for a narrated explanation for this song.

  • oh i actually didn't see it. but i actually rather learning from these videos. tutorials go too slow for my liking. anyways i ended up learning the song last night after i posted my first message haha thanks a lot for posting. i'll let you know when my video's up. i''ll put you in the credits haha :)

  • Awesome. ( : Feel free to post the video as a video response to mine, as well. I'd love to get a collection of people playing this song after hearing mine. ^-^

  • i was looking for this song for an hour now, but all i got was this song on normail piano :(, i finally hound it :D

  • I'm not sure if I understand, but I'm glad you found it. ^-^

  • on normal piano it sounds different from the one on thr electrical keyboard ^-^

  • Ah, got'ya. ( :

  • This is very impressive for someone who doesn't use sheet music! I don't use it either, so i try and play the same way- by using your ear and memorization.(although I certainly don't sound like this) Excellent job though, thanks for uploading!

  • Thanks for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed it. ( : Once you learn a basic version of the song, you can then begin playing with modifying different sections to make it more advanced. I, typically, start with modifying the bass line to something other than a single note.

  • your so gooood, wish i could play like u :(

  • Just get a song stuck in your head, and hum while you try to match notes on a piano/keyboard. That's how I learn.

  • Awesome.

  • ( : I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • OMG ... The earwig BEST!

    :3

  • ...earwig? Huh? I don't remember their being one in the vid.

  • ... ^^

  • Awesome played! 5/5 :D

Love Kirby, definitive my favourite char on ssbb^^

if your nearly as interested in zelda song as you are in kirby songs, u should check my channel =)

  • ( : Thanks for watching. I'll check out your vids, as well.

  • lawl. i cant read notes either. and i play lots a stuff. nice job

  • ^-^ Thanks for watching. Being able to play by ear is such a rewarding talent, but I'd have to say, just for ease of learning, being able to read sheet music fluently would be nice.

  • i sometimes play the piano in the school's music room and the band teacher said i got a special ear since i have no clue wat a note even is. he says if i could take lessons then i could play anything i wanted. buuuut notes r 2 confusing fer me. lol

  • A long long time ago, I used to play the trumpet in the school band. I was able to read notes fluently during that time, but trumpet notation is far more simple than that of a piano, as the piano includes both treble and bass simultaneously.

  • ya i can only play piano. never was able to play anything else. exept that wierd zilaphone that LOOKS lika a grey piano. its got the keys in the right order and its just a silver piano and ya need wierd drumsticks 2 play it lol

  • This song is very well played! Love it! =]

  • ( : Thank you.

  • Very good!

  • Thank you very much. ( :

  • 2 thumbs up! Great work you have here, keep it up!

    ~SlimSKim13

  • Hehe, thx.

  • really really nice!

  • (|: I'm glad you liked it.

  • niceeeeee im so goan play piano soon!

  • *thumbs up*

  • I'm pretty good at playing by ear, but I still need to learn the chords :) plus, I hardly know the song, but I really like it ^__^ Lol I don't have the patience to read music

  • Hahaha, ditto. I can't be bothered to sit down and learn sheet music. I'm too lazy. Lol

  • I have that keyboard :)

I'm nowhere near as good as you unfortunately.

  • That keyboard can do wonderful things. ^-^

Well, keep at it and you'll soon surpass me, I'm sure. I haven't really gained any new skills in a very very long time.

  • i tried learning this song by ear and i never knew it was so easy... well easy compared to what i expected it to be

  • Yea, the tune is fairly simple, so it's easy to bring it to the piano if you understand basic bass chords. Even if you don't, it'll still sound good. I'm making a tutorial for this as we speak.

  • makes me want to tap my foot :)

  • Haha, wow, that's a good compliment. Thanks. (| :

  • me 2

  • tutorialllllll

  • Just waiting for a camera, then the tutorials will flow like a waterfall. ( :

  • Ok, tutorial has been posted. ( :

  • again very good a very good job m8 ^^

  • (| :

  • gr8 man i like ur kirby ur kirby music =) btw 5 stars and please make some more music i like it (Tip: u should try the ssbm opening)

  • Hmmmm, I'll have to listen to it again. I usually play songs that get stuck in my head, so if the openning is catchy enough to do that, then I might very well transpose it to keyboard.

  • It's great make a Torturial video.

I Have sheet of grenn greens but i can't read it.

    LOL

  • Yea, I'll get on it. I have my friend's camera, again. Just have to find a little time to do it.

  • I meant to watch and comment this earlier. Now that I have. I must say I am thoroughly pleased. 5 stars.
