I really wish they would have called this little Lynryd or something else. This is NOT Lynyrd Skynyrd .Little brother Van Zant can sing an it sounds ok. Medlocke was an original in the muscle shoals days as was ed king but today's incarnation is not and will never be the name they are playing under.Love the boys but Re Name the band please and stop playing Freebird..it's not yours to play.
Great effort from the younger brother of the legend Ronnie Vanzant...I have seen them with this line up and enjoyed hearing the old stuff..But after the show 4got about the whole thing..Again great effort but just not the same.without Ronnie .especially FREE BIRD.Opinions will always vary on this and its just mine.
Ricky Medlock and Hughie Thomason were a great addition to this band. They had all the chords, licks down pat and were as close to the original band as you could wish for. I have seen the original band and this one and they are great. Johnny sings very close to Ronnies tone and glad to see he kept the band alive. This is my favorite Skynyrd tune.
You want to hear a band that is as close to the original Ronnie Van Zandt version of Lynyrd Skynyrd sound, then go watch Skynnyn Lynnyrd perform. They are out of Vacaville, CA. and they will make you believe that Ronnie and the gang have been reincarnated as Skynnyn Lynnyrd. Note for note Skynnyn Lynnyrd has duplicated exactly the original sound of the original Lynyrd Skynyrd. You have to see this band perform to see what I am talking about. Skynnyn Lynnyrd is awesome!!!!!!

god please quit playing it's killing the memory of Ronnie Van Zant and original Skynyrd every night they get up there and murder classics like "Freebird" and "simple Man"
Lynyrd Skynyrd simply rocks, never the same after the plane crash. We all know tt their music will never be the same, although still, exceptionally good! Those who have gone before us will forever remain in our hearts.
not bad skynyrd was at its best with allen collins gary rossington ed king and also wrote some good songs with steve gains in the band after ed king left in 1975
Check us out In July 2005 I filmed my band with Bob Burns playing the drums on 20 Lynyrd Skynyrd classics
Bob Burns was Lynyrd Skynyrd's Co founder and drummer from 1965 thru late 1974.He is now in the Rock n Roll hall of fame at the time he played with us Skynyrd had not been inducted yet.
There is only three skynyrd songs on video you can see Bob playing on.WE HAVE HIM ON TWENTY OF SKYNYRDS BEST CLASSICSHE IS AN AWESOME DRUMMER
Say hi to Bob for me. I promoted a show in Cleveland, MS in 1974. In 1987 I went to work for the Skynyrd Tribute Tour Band that was originally supposed to be only 30 shows. Turned into 10 years for me and they are still out there. I was at this show. It was the last date of the European Tour. Also on this show was The Band... with Levon Helm and Rick Danko. We flew out of Helsinki and 2AM and it still wasn't dark. What a long strange trip it was!!
im gonna have to disagree with you on that...ed king is the only person that can play that solo note for note simply because he wrote it, hughie thomasson did a great job in skynyrd and im glad he took kings spot but the '87 band was as close to the real thing that you will ever see
