i got baby alive for my grandaughter for xmas from e bay. im so dissapointed, all her hair is really thin and missing in places. i cant give this doll. her head is fixed and cant be removed cos of machanical devices to mahe lips and eyes move, so i will have to work from outside.. could i use a curved upholstry needle?
Thanks Robin :) I have been using the knot method for years and I have always wanted to do it this way but I didn't really understand ,much easier now I have seen it.......it looks so professional...thanks again:) jen
Thanks for this tutorial! I've been dying to re-root a BRATZ. Will this technique work on BRATZ? And where in-stores could I get hair for the re-root and will hair extensions for humans work?
Thank you for posting this tutorial. I always used the not method for rerooting a doll head but I so LOVE this method better and will use it next time I root a head.
Is there a safe way to make new hair plugs in your dolls head. Some of my Dolls don't seem to have many so you always see their head. Their hair never seem to cover their bald spots. Love the video it's very helpful.
Thank you so much for posting this video. I have done this technique on dolls with the crochet needle. I never thought of doing what you did with the darning needle and some dental floss. Brilliant!
I was dreading the knot method for an upcoming project... sooo ... sloooow.
i think the Bratz dolls hair roots are the same as Sindy but i dont need to do thise i never cut my Sindys hair i just wash her hair in conditionor that keeps it soft
Any of the methods used in the 3 videos should be fine to use on a Bratz doll, you can use any hair you wish really! The Nylon, Polypropylene or Saran that I stock are the best types of doll hair you can buy so it is personal preference which you choose to use!
when I was 10,, I rerooted my own doll using a thin yarn and it actually worked! but very bad my mind is being a worm, i suddenly cut all the hair up!

I hadn't thought of this method before. I usually do the knot method. Just ordered some hair recently and will try this on my next custom.

will this work for bratz dolls hair? it seems like it would be to difficult to do since they have small neck holes.

Does rerooting ever damage a doll hair?
It seem a bit harsh to force the big metal tool into those tiny holes. I may like to try this someday yet am worry about damaging.

What doll do you have? If it is a soft vinyl head then making extra plug holes is as easy as poking a needle through :)
I will often give my dolls extra hair plugs to cover any bald spots - glad the video is helping! ^_^ x

how do you secure the hair on the very last loop? do you tie the last two together or glue the last hairplug down?
fashionluva101 2 years ago
I do both! I tie the last two together and then add a tiny dab of glue just to be safe :)
