Could it be just possible that the observer effect occurs at the quantum level because the universe is programmed to shape the reality according to a set of laws ( similar to a computer working within a set of parameters) . At the level of the"macro world"we experience consciousness , thought and reality as we know it and and this reality is shaped at the subatomic level according to the activity of the consciousness. Who knows?.

I was thinking about that this morning when I woke up, thinking about times in the past when I narrowly escaped dying. I had a car roll over my head and I was almost in a fatal parachute accident once. Perhaps an alternate reality exists where I did not make it.

Exactly! This is what started me thinking about this way of visualizing reality back when I was seven years old, when I was running through a field and my foot dropped into a gopher hole. That wrenching "shift" in my perception made me feel like I had seen a branch in the universe, and there were ones where I was hurt much worse, while I continued on in the one I was in where I just got up and kept running. It wasn't until I read about Everett's Many Worlds Interpretation that I realized...

that my fanciful "line, branch, fold" way of visualizing spatial dimensions stacked one upon another had a direct connection to quantum mechanics. But then it was two near-death experiences in 2004 and 2005 that convinced me I should take the time to write my book and create this project.
