  • Nice one Alan!

I've been living near Manchester for a year now and have a great interest in Fred (what a geezer!)> I'm moving back to Dorset soon and I feel honoured to have walked parts of Bolton that Fred did. I guess the skyline is so different now - bless. Good show mate!

  • @leonne101 thanks for that... i have always been a fred fan..

  • @steamfandan

  • good little tune that, brough a tear to me eye, good bloke fred

  • @TheJonno1971 thanks the.jonno1971, he was one of a kind, was fred..

  • just come across this little poem on another forumn, and i thought i would paste it here.....

    He took down

    So many stacks

    Always with such deep respect,

And as if atonement for the deed,

He perched the church, a steeplejack

    And patched the leaks

    And fixed the face

    Of time, with his

    Immortal Grace

  • forgot to say, i have added this poem to the info too..

  • hi alan

    we liked Fred also.

    love your song

    you sound just like him

  • what i say at the end of the song is 100% true, he really was my local hero, i just wish i had the courage to speak to him, when he came to belmont bleaching ( where i worked at the time) he was after some parts for his steam engine.. off a old steam generator they had there, ( sound more like him live).. i do a good tommy cooper too .. ha ha..
