  • No Sammy! Put out the cigarettes!

But still awesome performance from a true master of Swing

  • @comradet0m ... and Dean Martin should put out the cigars too. Both should have more years of life and we would have more material to see, watch.

  • Lady Gaga, Justin bieber, even Madona, EAT YOUR HARTS OUT,,SAMMY A MULTY fasitied proformer almost from birth on the stage, I think from age 3 or 5 he could sing, act, & dance, total camand of the stage! I'll bet he's doing a SHOW in heaven tonite.

  • Flawless scat/improv. The BEST. The Master of Music. Thank you. Thank you.

  • I have got you under myskin man!!!great!

  • What you have witnessed here, very few great singers could do. Sammy was an all around bundle of talent and was proficient in dancing, acting, playing drums and let's not forget the impersonations which he enjoyed so much. Folks tend to forget that he was a great singer too.

  • A more talented man never lived. Rest in Peace, Mr. Davis.

  • I would like to see a movie about his life, and if one has already been made... I sure would like to see it! He is a great performer!!!

  • @LPICM so would I. Problem is I pity the actor who has to perform these numbers and sound remotely credible as Sammy. No professional singer has half the talent or electricity, let alone an actor. Its a loose/loose proposition. Most a critic could do is admire the effort, like an elephant tap dancing. Its that the elephant tries at all.

  • amazing peformer

  • Beautiful beautiful... Bravo !!!

I proclaim myself HIS greatest fan...

  • He loves doing this!

  • Superlatives can come down like a downpour in a Texas storm. Its still not enough. Nothing like Mr. Davis. In an age where virtually every thought was framed in prejudice and racism. His gift and courage transcended all efforts to box him into a colored theater or a segregated town . He broke down the doors.

  • Anybody who said Sammy was just a hammy Vegas lounge singer only need watch this short video and see one of THE greatest entertainers this world has ever seen. We'll never see his like again.

  • Yea, nobody can replace this great performer, soo natural yet soo entertaining! Love the man!

  • Theulmagtha Vingott of Mongolia who performed from 1202 to 1213 is the greatest entertainer of all time. But Sammy is a close second.

  • how you know?

  • The greatest, the best.

    Ray Tapper

  • Great Cole Porter medley by Sammy!!!

  • cannot think of 1 single other performer modern history who can do that

  • Listen to the beginning and tell me doesn't listen to jazz, and not just classic stuff but bebop.

  • alright love

  • Mahahahahah. Muahhahahah. If you were to say that to the ones you mentioned, they themselves would have laughed at you for your huge, unbelivable, unforgivable ignorance.

  • I agree.God bless the greatest entertainer.

  • An image just popped into my mind. Imagine that Sammy is doing this in Vegas. In the back of the the room is Elvis. He's thinking to himself, "Maybe I should find another line of work."

  • Fantastic man!...and I mean it!!! OUCH

  • so.... he sings in english..... the song titles are in chineese.. and he is in paris... where they skeep french.. interestingly multi cultural.... nice medly.. love sammy.. thanks for posting :)

  • The one and only.

  • The man!!!!

  • It's fantastic. He's the pioneer of the scat...before the great Al Jarreau !

I did'nt imagine Sammy had this technic.

    Congratulation !

    RR

  • No one else has the talent and balls to sing 7 minutes with no band.

  • I didn't know Sammy was such a great jazz singer. It really came out of his soul. What a talent! These guys EN-Acted the songs, lived them out. Who does that today? A lost art.

  • There will never be another SDJ

  • Before rap !!! Sam with only a drummer.

  • saw sammy in person 30 times and frank 30 times...no one in history comes close to either of these giants, sure it was talent but it was incredible charisma that each had also, perhaps if i had to chose one i'd have to go with sammy, one night he played every single instrument, and wow did he play it, there was nothing he couldn't do

  • now just add Ella for the perfect trio.

  • Sammy and Frank live for ever.... Thanks for all the great music

  • sammy is awesome yes, that's not what i take issue with but "fuck elvis and sinatra??" let's not get carried away- especially bout frank

  • no u dont get fuking carried away sinatra had a cool voice but could not play intruments, dance improvise, nothing, he, elvis, roling srones r shit compared to little richard, sammy, michael jackson, prince, wonder, ray charles, luis armstong, beatles, miles, dizzy, and i can keep going....

  • I agree. Sinatra is great in a special way. But it's comparing oranges to apples. Sammy could DO IT ALL! Sinatra defered to him, it was very unusual for white entertainers like Sinatra to "hang out" or "sponsor" African-Am entertainers. Personally, I think he was greatest of 20th cent! I just saw Jackie Wilson & there was another rare, extraordinary talent too huge to define.

  • No one like him. I envy all of you who say that you saw him live. I shed a tear and poured out some liquor in his honor when he died. The Rat Pack was made truly relevant because of his talent. Any more words would be excessive: The Greatest.

  • amazing truely an inspriation

the best of the rat pack

    pure soul

  • So privileged to see him live 3 times.

  • The greatest ever.

So much talent it just pours out.

Lucky to have seen him live a few times.

And a very warm man...well he did say hello to me!

  • love u sammy u were the more genuine pure talent ever, see you at the cross roads!!

  • Definitely one of a kind. We'll not see the likes of Sammy again.

  • no one like him

  • Michael Jackson as a kid, used to visit Sammy and borrow videos of his shows. The best learn from the best.

  • i agree fuck elvis and sinatra

  • AMEN!!!

  • ab-so-lu-te-ly fan-tas-tic, thank you so much,

  • The little man who was black, jew and one-eyed yet he made it to the top o the showbizz and was a true friend/brother of Frank Sinatra and loved by Elvis Presley(infact you can see him in the documentary " Elvis That's the wat it is "

on openingsnight besides Carry Grant and other celebrities)

  • Sammy could do it all! I saw his grave site and it says "He could do it all"

  • Sammy davis Jr. was "One Swinging Cat"

He was an awesome intertainer and big

Influence on Michael Jackson - He pays

tribute to him in his Billie Jean dance

and wrote and awesome tribute song for him.

  • Now sammy daivs Jr was so full of tallent threw out all of his life for not only he could sing and dance but his impersonations were increditable.

  • Sammy was the man!!!!!!!

  • The three biggest names in showbiz....

    Sammy

    Davis

    Jnr!

  • such a shame that he died so young, he was great with Dean Martin en Frank Sinatra

  • his voice was 1/2 what it was from cigarettes & still great............acapella too.

Enrique Englesias couldn`t wipe Sammy`s sweat

  • so before his time, 1000 artist with voices 110 times better than his could not do what he did.

    oh well

  • Not many men can wear a pink shirt and look cool. Sammy Davis Jr. was the exception. :D

  • love it

  • Wow thats a great vid thanks for posting.

Sammy Davis Jnr,The only guy I can use the quote

"Thats One Swinging CAT!!" and get away with it.

  • Sorry that this came to and end. Very enjoyable. Miss his talent very much. Those was the good old days.

  • Incredible.Unforgetable.The greatest entertainer ever hit the stage.

  • Frank was great doing his thing; ditto for Elvis; and ditto with Sammy. Three different singers, three different styles, three different talents. Three great entertainers.

  • IS THERE ANYMORE?

  • Amazing stuff from a great entertainer

  • This is why he's Mr. Wonderful!...Love ya Sammy.

  • love sammy!!!

  • I love this video, i will always love this man

  • the GREATEST !

  • The greatest entertainer ever (sorry Elvis, Frank)

  • As much as I love Frank, I whole-heartedly agree!

  • this performance was one of a kind .simply excellence.

  • I bought the Ratpack CD/DVD Live & Swingin' and was simply blewn away by by his solos - he's a real musical genius! my favourite!

  • Absolutely magnificent!!!! My favorite out of all the "Rat Pack". To me...the best off of improv.

  • Absolutely superb.. can never be replaced !

  • wonderful

  • Fantastic!! What a music man! What a feeling and rythem... ENTERTAINMENT! Elegant. Absolute showbizz top-class!!!

  • The man could wail! I was lucky enough to see him when he toured with Frank and Liza, and he was the most enjoyable of the three!

  • They don't make them anymore like that these kindda entertainers. Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley... and ofcourse Sammy! Beat that Idols and all those other wanabee-entertainers!

  • Thank you so much for this JAW DROPPING clip. I work in the concert business and I'm child of rock and roll but must say rock never produced anyone who could come within ten thousand miles of this guy's talent. Stunning, jaw dropping performance. To see him live was to be humbled and mesmerized. The greatest talent this country ever produced. Literally a genius.

  • All he had a was drumbreat. The rest was pure Sammy magic!

  • Fantastic medley, especially the songs from West Side Story. A great performance from a master!

  • One of the best of all time together with names as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra.

  • I wish he were still alive and singing today. A hard cat to beat!
