I have raised Gouldians before using society finches set up in separate cages as foster parents but I have a pair with two babies right now and they are doing an excellent job raising them and I have had Gouldians in the past that raised their own babies too.
I read that Lady Gouldians have a rep for making poor parents- often leaving their young malnourished due to neglect. Society (Bengalese) finch hens usually are kept in the same cage to act as better foster parents. I have a couple but I have yet to see some fertile eggs hatch.

society finches act as a cuckoo doe's and will only help too malnourish the babie's through interference!
