  • That's how it's done. Nice simple and basic. You people shouldnt post stupid shit comments.

  • Great Moves..

  • and you have no defense at the right so'll be pushed knock out...

  • hahah tell that to gukhan saki, who broke his arm with 1 kick of overreem

  • that is truly awfull technique never block with your arm if u get a powerfull kicker u will only take a couple of kicks or break your arm AWFUL!!!!

  • @weasel11000 ha! tell that to Ramon Dekkers, Andy Sower and other great fighters !! The technique demonstrated in this video is one of many useful techniques .. just curious, do you even train Muay Thai ? and if so .. with who ?? get off the keyboard and show me somethin :)

  • @hondaonly well actually you are 100% right. I'm trainig muay thai and this is a proper block!

  • @weasel11000 haha then tell us all how u like to block body kicks since youre such the expert!

  • @weasel11000 thats where training your arms comes in handy, making it more powerful.

  • It seems like blocking in these ways will keep you off balance and wouldn't give you time to counter, you'd just have to defend

  • do any of ya'll realize he is a 7 time world muay thai champion

  • awkward how he didnt touch gloves with the black guy in he end

  • @StRiKd101 He did. You can see that in the end of the videoclip.

  • this is awfull... if you block with your arms, block with your muscle, NOT your elbow (unless you target a muscle), DO NEVER BLOCK WITH YOUR HANDS (unless you want to make them beeing broken) and finally the defence with the knee is the first one to learn, and if you do it be sure that your elbow is OUTSIDE your leg so that your can have an effective defense against the highest middle kick...

  • @comaneg Agree

  • and as for the keyboard brawler up on the top, i wouldnt even talk man, for one I doubt you would be walking so well after the first three checked kicks. for two I wish that some dumbass would fake a low kick and throw a opp side hook to the head, cause your lights would be out HOMIE. think about where your head and hands would be trying to throw that combo, in bangplee theres ten year olds that would knock you out if you threw that

  • i agree with not lifting the leg to high, but i am not going against what he is saying, these three guys are the real deal and know what they are doing. we have actually trained under the same ppl and teams, now i would just fake high and go under the block to sweep them but thats me and it doesnt always work. you might eat an elbow or a hook in doing so. but this video teaches solid tech that works. def a good video

  • yea actually the best defence is to evade using footwork..

  • @MegaBazboy thats the art of fighting to hit and not be hit

  • why can`t every body just learn this classic muay thai defence .

there are more techniques that can go with this , however every one must master using the knee-cap as demostrated in the video..

if you can`t do then you are at a loss..

do some people want to weare rubber booties and extra thick shin gurard all the time ..

the lessons here are excellent .just learn to to prefrom the moves.

  • @hondaonly Man just let him block with one arm. For sure he'll break something. Stopping a kick with full bodyweight is well not the smartest thing to do. Great technique and thanks for sharing. I'll try adding the knee into my defence.

  • Do I have to tuck my head a lot when he high kicks me like the black guy does? I won't be able to see properly if i do so right?

  • @capoeira2brazil you dont have to do anything that doesnt feel natural to you. He ducks his head but is looking up which is his style. Ultimately, you would need to do what works best for you.

  • @hpartsonly Do you think he sees better when he ducks his head in that style? what about if I kept my head up but covered would not the vision be better? I am just learning you know :)

  • @capoeira2brazil Peter's style has him ducking his head as he blocks in case another offensive technique is executed after the kick (example: an uppercut). He has trained knowing to keep your chin down and eyes up. You can keep your head up while you cover for kick but just be ready for further defense or your counter attack.

  • Btyjp is right with this one, He should have his elbow on the outside of his leg when doing this block as the knee will make the block stronger

  • USE WHATEVER WAY TO BLOCK A MUAY THAI KICK TO THE BODY ? BUT REMEMBER USE IT WISELY OR ELSE " ...........

  • wow that is rick o' kane. i want 2 see the people said bad things about him. he has a lot of fights. who r u to judge him ... and who r u post 4 us please

  • dont reach wit the right hand. just keep ur elbows in an chin tucked an ull be able to eat those all day an be fine. ur deffinently susseptible to a big left hook to the head if ur reachin with ur right

  • @jamnin94 If you think you 'eat' body kicks all day long by blocking with your elbow you obviously havent been kicked with a round kick!!

  • @paulockleford obviously the first choice would be to evade the kick im just saying if u have a solid namidachi ur elbows will be tucked in tight and u will be able to take the impact if u get caught with a round kick. my point was dont reach bro

  • @jamnin94 Ok, well its only a quick parry and its a pretty standard Thai block against a kick if you're not fast enough to catch it, step away or use a shin block, its a last resort to take some of the sting out..

  • use the right hand? WTf....

  • CO0OL

  • @GuardianAngel5150 Here is the thing you either block with you your leg and keep both hands up or block with thie redirection method. If you do both as they are showing at least your cover both since the kick may be very poweverful and still may float over your leg check.

  • @GuardianAngel5150 I know a few Muay Thai fighters that would volunteer for that..Say goodbye to your ribs.

  • not trying to put you down but when doing a high block, elbows outside.

  • or the best move is just to avoid the kicks, these techniques are far to dangerous when fighting a skilled boxer of some sort, by using those 2 hands just to block a kick might cause you getting knocked out by a vicious left hand lol.

  • Do u guys even realize who is teaching this. Rick "the mongoose" okane and Peter"sugarfoot" cunningham. 2 of the best fighters fromt Benny the Jet.

  • DO U NOTICE THAT WHEN YOU USE BOTH ARMS TO BLOCK THE KICK THE RIGHT SIDE OF HIS JAW IS WIDE OPEN? I WOULD THROW A COUPLE RIGHT KICKS THEN FAKE THE THIRD AND HIT HIM WITH A LEFT HOOK! LIGHTS OUT HOMIE!

  • @tyzumbaflava I'd bet 100 dollars that if any of these guys kicked you once you would start crying and run home to mama.. HOMIE!

  • @tyzumbaflava

did u also notice how he said the leg and arm block is the best one to use, i love youtube masters.

p.s writing in all caps doesnt make you look smart, it makes you look arrogant.

  • @tyzumbaflava how u gonna left hook from a right kick? kinda strange all u could do is a right superman punch or turn it to a push kick or something,..maybe...but what you said was bullshit.

  • @tyzumbaflava you are right. Against middle kicks, the best way to defend is to simply block with the shinbone, or grab the leg. This kind of defense with both arms, is used against high kicks, because the opponent has less stability.

  • there they go all over again using the SHIN BONE FOR A FULL ON BLOCKING SURFACE.

    ouuuuussssssss all wrong

  • @tyzumbaflava how would you block?

  • @MuaythaiClinch

IT'S better to block, of course

  • My muay thai instructor told me to never lift my leg too high for defense, because the opponent might fake a high kick but instead kick you right through the hind leg. He actually kicked me so many times during sparring like that.

  • @iceman1asdf The lifting of the leg to block the body kick is used more in traditional Thai style; your instructor is right but Im sure he wasnt done with his thought though. An opponent can fake/trick at any time, its up to the defender to choose which defense technique they will use along with reading the opponent body to see if the which kick is a fake and which is really coming to you.

  • @iceman1asdf it depends on where the kicks being thrown by the opponent, thats what my kru said i hope that helps man keep training !!! :)

  • @iceman1asdf You should never do the same defence. Always change and be no robot. Also these training is nice if its your first lesson. But after that you should be moving and doing the technique. A person aint no wooden dummy

  • nice lesson waiting for more !!

  • very good defencive technique,

REMEMBER USE THE * KNEE CAP ** FOR BLOCKING SURFACE!.

there are even more moves that come from this basic up knee .

    lets see what you have..

    knee cap blocking rules !!

  • how you block the big boot type of kick

  • @HortonofDOOM u cant kick effectively and punch at the same time,+ legs have the longer reach, u cant kick well from punching range.

and after the block u immediately go back in your normal guard stance

  • wa si nu bastard nir e mmerd!!! ij k sfaccimmus!!! otten indo ssang!!!!ahahahahahahahah by don Ralfffff

  • awesome video. Props for showing the block in a practical way (by having the attacker actually kick hard).

  • the black guys cool man

  • @richeezy true ;D, i'd love to have such a trainer ;D

  • awesome video!
