You CAN compare the State and God. They obviously aren't the exact same thing. But, it's like the old adage:'apples and oranges'. You CAN compare them too, they are both fruits, they are both edible, etc. So just because two things aren't exactly the same doesn't mean you can't compare them. That is idiotic. What CF is saying when he compares the two is that they are both based on faith and ideas. They aren't tangibly real in the way a coffee table is.

All I've seen out of the govt. and organized religion is a lot of superficial, if not completely rhetorical , B.S. just to keep the power and money in their own hands. If a poor man needs an apple and I have ten, I'd probably give him three. I'm not about to give the church 10% of my income because they say "God says so." Politicians are even worse.
When you say he was never an athiest what are you trying to achieve. How are you in a better position to say what he believes/believed then he is?
