Leave it to Grimith to show us a TPK of epic proportions. Failure this grand can only come from a true master such as the illustrious Grimith. Keep up the great work, love the vids, oh and for funsies I made a ringtone from your "I just got RNG screwed" laugh.
If only the game went on after your team had died so we could watch all of your enemies die in the ensuing blasts that were sure to happen in the next turn.
R.I.P. Reaper's Corsairs. They died honorably (kinda) in a fiery death. Or maybe they didn't. By the way, I vote you just ignore this mission entirely and avoid the fiery death trap. Whatever you choose, what comes next will be VERY interesting.
Reload and pretend that the squad armed to the teeth with napalm, flamethrowers, and long range missles refused to fight in the super dense forest terrain.
We don't need no water, let the nuclear chain reaction go.
Anyway. I say retcon the whole thing and let's all pretend it was a drunk mercenary's story/star zoo induced nightmare/nazi's messing with the timeline again.
Now, this is just my suggestion, and I suggested 100% everything so take it with a whole bag of salt.
But wouldn't it be entertaining to reload the earlier save from combat, set the forest on fire, and then use the jump skills to jump to the other side of the river?
I'm not sure how it would be to play, lots of waiting I assume, but it would be interesting to see the results in a video.
Hmm. Honestly, I'd like to see this mission type again, now that you know that as soon as a fire starts, you have to get the hell out of dodge. It's also an interesting time component, as you want to destroy and disable the other titans before the entire map is a conflagration -- or be forced to fight in puddles, surrounded by walls of fire.
But if that's too stressful (you said you wanted an easy mission), Grims, just pretend the whole thing never happened.
Nice videos but your jocks are a bit underskilled and do not form an efficient squad. At their rank the jocks should have a weapon skill of at least 70% for example.
@LarkinVB Of course they're not efficient. They're a random assortment of formerly imprisoned mercenaries who banded together for glory and profit. I don't know what kind of guys you're recruiting from prison or from where you're recruiting them (perhaps from the Illustrious Personages of Nefarious Deeds Correctional Facility?), but I don't have the "deeply intellectual, plan out everything, and work cohesively as a team" guys.
option 2. I thought this patrol through the amazons was pretty cool. The derp finale was definitely worth the watch but I think this mission is worth a 2nd go. I'd like to see how you could better incorporate the trees and napalm into a winning strategy.
I vote rolling back to before the match and pretending it never happened, because, well... because this was a learning experience on "Why not to ever use massive forests... ever."
I mean, we all knew it was a bad idea, right? Well except the dude that asked you about it... I know, we can blame him! It's all HIS fault! :P
So question, you might of gone over it in another video and I missed it but whatever. Why is going into water a bad thing in this game? I'm used to where most Mech games water's a god send because it reduces your heat.
@Cptwalmart Do you remember what happened in the last video when Grimith and Bobo got stuck in the frozen water hexes for a while? Basically, that's why water hexes don't allow you to have nice things.
I'd have to say that I'd prefer to forget this battle happened. I'm willing to consider it a part of Professor Farnsworth's 'What If' machine and just an example of how to not prevent forest fires.
I think the only thing that would've made this episode better, would be if the hellish fireball that engulfed your team ended up killing the opposing team as well, ending the match in a draw.
Also, to clarify, Medium-class and larger titans are too large and cumbersome to be able to be used by just traditional, manual controls. Instead, they're all keyboard driven(like the USS Enterprise), and use a direct neural interface called a 'neural bridge'. Neural Sense is the pilot's ability to use said neural bridge device effectively.
@BladeSkydancer I can control medium and large titans just with a keyboard and a mouse. Operates rather smoothly. Although, those mechs are a part of the MechWarrior universe, which is a part of the Battletech universe.
@117superdude Yeah, but this is Titans of Steel. If you haven't noticed, Light-class titans are as heavy as BT Timber Wolves, which are classified as 'heavy' mechs. Mediums are up to 100 tons, if I remember right(as heavy as any of the premier Assault-class mechs), and the big daddy Assault-class weighs in at two hundred tons. These titans are *massive*.
It's a shame( a hilarious one at that) that Reaper's Corsairs had to come to a nearly bitter end like that...but that's the way the dice fall sometimes, 'eh? :D
Personally, I say you should reform the squad as cheat characters, beef them up to Epic Proportions, then edit their names back to the way they were. Call it a glimpse into a (very unlikely) future, and run demonstration battles with custom medium, heavy, and assault titans.
22:15 The funny thing is I was singing One Vision to myself yesterday while screwing around on MegaMek.
Thanks XSI. You made this an enjoyable mission. I'd like to see a redo of this river/tree bonanza with the knowledge you gained from this experience. All the happenings of this video were just a prophetic dream.
6 titans destroyed, 2 shutdown and only 2 survivors. All caused by a single fire. I approve.
I am inclined towards rolling back to your pre-recording save though. If you repeated the mission I'm not sure how you would prevent the same thing happening again (to you anyway) since half the squad brings their own fiery death everywhere they go. I suppose you could set the world on fire and hide in the river, but that feels a bit cheap and I don't know how fun that would be to play/watch.
12:30 43.2 heat lost per 20 seconds, so you'll be gaining 12.8 per salvo!
Seems a little better than the old one.
MysteriousJG's role in this fight appeared to be limited to 'meat shield'. Did you consider having him off in the distance, scanner-linked and firing indirectly with his guided missiles? It probably wouldn't have worked, but it might have hit once or twice...
18:50 A few months ago we told my Dad he was being troll dad when he was... well troll dading and after we explained it to him he used it as an opportunity to be super troll dad for the whole weekend he was visiting.
@GrimithR I guess I was wrong since you did say you were in someone's video but none the least the ending was funny. I say you should showcase the other weight classes or anything special with the game.
22:17 I got the reference. Queen.
