Um, give me the youtube link to this documentary, and I might actually consider this overused excuse.

A clear example is What Have You Done, Keith AND Sharon BOTH sound different. And sounding differen't wasn't for the better either. I guess Keith just happened to have a cold too!!

Editing for CDs goes for all artists, the fact that Sharon is no except makes he sound different live (usually slightly worse).

i can confirm that in the bonus Sharon said she was sick a few day before the show and her voice wasn't at 100% during the show.

she wasn't sick, but that's just an overused excuse for sounding different from the studio version.

It's impossible to sound the same (generally, you sound a little worse live) because of sound editing, and this applies to practically all artists and bands.

I have never heard the CD version of this, so I can't say if this is worse than the original or not.
