Uhm if you're going for the achievement, you can't shoot at all. Even if there aren't any melee weapons.

it was recorded on demo, and i dident have meele wepoen at the start so i usend my shootgun. REad description :D

I love foreigners. Well first off the description says nothing but that you used the "shootgun" (by the way, all guns shoot) It just says melee only campaign, So I gave you some advice.
