So glad to find this video on here. I'm in tears listening to this song, and reflecting on my country of birth. I pray God's richest blessings upon Jamaica and my fellow country men and women, that we will be restored to a place of great health, wealth and prosperous in all our dwelling. Nuff luv
Not quite the land of my birth but I lived there for much of my childhood from the age of a few months. Haven't heard this in decades. Thanks for posting it! Reminds me of my mom, my childhood, summers spent at Runaway Bay, and the excitement of waiting for the announcement of the winner of Festival Song Competition on Independence day. Eric Donaldson won in 1976 and 77 with this song and with "Sweet Jamaica" which is also on youtube and he won several other times before and after that as well.
i am from cameroon and this song was one of my first songs i could sing , because my uncle loved it and he loved me much, so as a cab driver he always played it and i loved those cab rides with him, not for the song but the car, but i grew up liking what he liked.
I am from Cameroon too but live in Chicago.I always wondered where I could get this song until I stumbled on it here. Those good old days! Thanks xcieltjex.Youtube rocks
the only thing id go to jamaica for is the weed its 100% better then the stuff u get in the u.k these days big up jamaica and the fellow bruddas that live there
You are right, I dont know why people are giving you a thumbs down. I love jamaica too, but the truth is the truth, the Yankee business a spoil up jamaica, the land of MY BIRTH. Jamaica wants to be like US and that a spoil up things. Wake up people.
This is my youth song, I'm proud this music was released when I was still a young lad. It can never get old in my hearing. I guess its Jamaica National Anthem?
This song gives me nostalgia. It had always been in my long term memory. I am just hearing it again after about 20 years and i can still remember the words here and there
my family is from jamaica and i recently went back. it is a beautiful country, but the gang violence has gripped people over there in fear. its a damn shame because the country is beautiful and people are so friendly. i hope they get rid of the gang violence so jamaica goes back to the beautiful, warm hearted country that it was to be. if god ever put paradise on earth it is certainly jamaica.
Big up Jamaica! Independance day 01 August 2008! Not the land of my birth, but my parents, love the place, beautiful country no matta weh people wan seh! This is Jamaica, real Jamaica Land of my birth!
Listening to this song brings tears to my eyes when I look at our beautiful country and see how criminals and corrupt politicians are trying to destroy it...Heaven help Jamaica!!!
i cant stop coming back here to listen to this song. jamaica is surely a land of natural beauty. i'm nigerian ,went 8nights in montego bay on hols, maaann it was one of the best hols i've ever had. will surely go back. the water gets u trapped in it , cos of the temperature and the pple are very hospitable.
I wanna go to Jamaica next summer. I know its crazy down there but the musicians sing about it with a different passion. We call that patriotism. An all time great tune. Love it!
from those days till now i still plays the music of eric donaldson,it touches me were no music does.must of the tracks are full of encouragement for africa.my jamaican friend dat we both live very close here in manchester told me dat eric is stil alive and he runs a hotel in jamaica,i just thank God for his life
i was a boy when this tune was huge, back in nigeria. he ruled the airwaves then, with guys like u-roy, i-roy, bob marley, yellowman, and then came third world, later on. this tune is da bomb. big up ! ma jamaican brothers

I wanna go to Jamaica next summer. I know its crazy down there but the musicians sing about it with a different passion. We call that patriotism. An all time great tune. Love it!
