  • "...340 plus hp, and 340 lb ft of torque..." There's a good application for front wheel drive!!

  • If I have to listen or watch anymore of this power point presentation I'm gonna throw up. This is not how you interest buyers. And why did they pick this old guy to present it. He sounds monotone and and does not seem enthusiastic about his own product that he is presenting.

  • Its not intended to be a sales video to keep your short attention span.

  • Fans of the SHO are used to seeing yamaha make the engine. will this be acceptable?

  • Bring Back the SHO SHO SHO SHO SHO SHO SHO SHO SHO SHO SHO...

  • Ford... a whole lot of absolutely NOTHING.

Their initiatives just suck. They offer absolutely nothing substantial to save fuel at ALL! It's purely and utterly bogus bogus and more bogus.

  • The MKS looks great in this video. I can't wait until Ford puts this engine into the MKS, along with the new Taurus SHO, Fusion, ect..

  • is it coming out for the 2010 taurus SHO?

  • great tech... any idea if it's coming out on the 2010 fusion considering the fusion, milan, and mks are basically the exact same car.

  • fusion and milan are similar to mkz not mks. mks is bigger

  • No they're not! The MKS shares the same platform as the Volvo S80, M. Sable and, F. Taurus.

  • The L. MKS is using the same platform with the V. S80, M. Sable and, F. Taurus.

  • mks is bigger. mkz is the cross-branded fusion. both very nice tho. and make sure you get SYNC!!! I cant live without it.

  • I love watching that Taurus spanking the Caddy and The BMW!

  • the 335i still sounded the best

  • Ford was just recognized as being in a statistical dead heat with Honda and surpassing Toyota in quality. I think you are only seeing the beginning for this company. Mulally has them cranking out very high quality product and there new entries look pretty sharp.

  • ECOBOOST!!

What a joke!!! Notice that the car engine is still above 300 HP too. You don't need that for speed if you have the right power to weight ratio ; but they will never change: or at lest change in time to save some American Jobs!! No wonder Ross Perot quit General Motors after they would't listen to him as to what was going to happen to the the American car industry if they didn't change. Fire every single manager and start from scratch with the engineers in charge!!

  • You made a good point with, what you were saying...until, you called the "Ecoboost" engine a joke! I believe, that's going to be a great Ford engine in the coming yrs.!

  • yeah Mazda and Chevy already are using this sort of technology. Good to see Ford using it too, but Fords US cars are lame vs what they sell in Europe.

  • You do know that ford owns mazda right?

  • yeah now they own a whopping 13% of mazda.

  • Lol..., Mazda? Ford owns Mazda! If it wasn't for Ford..., where would Mazda get it's car designs? Also..., as soon as, the "EcoBoost" engine comes out..., watch how Mazda starts requesting for them in their vehicles! One the other hand..., GM is questionable! Maybe they're already using that tech....or, not. I'm not sure!

  • So it took them this long to figure out the advantages of forced induction x3 Anyway isn't Chevy's ecotec the same thing O.o other then that I think Chevy only makes them as inline 4s. Good to see that American car manufactures are taking a step in the right direction at least.

  • do you know which chevy cars have this type of engine

  • NONE. Chevy doesn't have technology, sorry.

  • Lol..., that's a good one! ;-)

  • Lol..., that's a good one! GM still uses pushrod engines. Some of them have direct injection, though...which, are good.

  • Chevy doesn't use ecoboost, they use Ecotec (sp?). Right now chevy has 2 main versions, both 4 banger; the 2.0l turbo and the 2.4l naturally aspirated, both of which are used in sky (redline), solstice (gxp), cobalt (ss) HHR (ss), and a couple others. Ford will have the leg up with the v6, but expect chevy to combat this with its own turbo v6 soon, at least thats what I predict.

  • none. 0. GM has nothing to match this. This is the holy grail for FF performance. It's about time someone actually puts it into serious production.

  • What you people are failing to see is that this is going to be mainstream. In EU or japan its only available to select cars. The DI with turbo will be offered in all of Ford's vehicles.

  • The Mini Cooper already has Turbo, Direct injection, electric steering etc. from a 1.6L engine. This is already availble. As usual the US market is behind.

  • This a gasoline Direct injection

I think you are talking about diesel

  • Audi/VW is using that stuff in TFSI engines since 2004.

  • No he's talking petrol (gasoline) direct injection. VW have had it for years now on Golf and other models. Golf GTi is Direct injection gasoline tubo and has been on the market for almost 4 years. It has been available on some mainstream models from Japan without turbocharging since 1996 then spreading through the world. It's a great technology, just not a brand new amazing one...

  • Cool! Really need to drive one of those MKSs - mean looking machine! A Taurus would be cool - a Fusion w/ 6-spd even cooler!

  • Sounds Good!....

  • What is the estemated price?

  • Great to see the progress. No doubt Ford has been working on this a while in order to roll it out now.

  • So, this is basically what we have in Europe for years already? Realising that your V8's aren't that modern and hardly changed since the 60's..

  • your an idiot

  • Yet you enjoy our AMERICAN Youtube.

  • From GM yes. Which Ford twimcam 32 valve engine is the old tech one?

  • Ford I'm begging you to bring back the SHO. I promise I will buy one.

  • Concordo 100% !!!.....

  • I want to see the stats on the I-4 which would used primarily in the Focus. The i-4 with 200+Hp would make the Focus a sweet street machine.

  • Great work everyone at Ford for your hard work and commitment in bringing this advancement to market! Exciting technology, I can't wait until it gets put into the rest of Ford's impressive range of vehicles.

  • All these years when Japanese cars are ruling the roost with their fuel efficient cars, Ford and GM produced gas guzzlers. Now that their debt equity ratio is gone very high, suddenly they realised the need to develop fuel efficient cars. By the time these cars become popular, there may not be much oil left. America's share in the world oil consumption is 25% but share in reserves is just 3%.

  • a 10 minute video advertisement and not even once did FORD say what the MPG of one of their new cars would get.

    take a hike FORD!

  • The Ecoboost sounds very promising. It seems like it can make a major and positive impact on our environment. I wish them well with it. But, my only concern with it is they are using a "Turbo charger" on there engines. Turbo engines require Premuim grade gas in order for them to work properly. Imagine putting Premuim in a Ford focus. >:(

  • The point of direct injection is that you can inject the fuel right before combustion. This isn't possibly with traditional injection since the valves are closed during the compression stroke. If you inject the fuel right before combustion you can raise the compression ratio without as much worry about pre-ignition. So tada problem solved, higher compression ratios, regular gas, and lots of power. This is the whole point of direct injection.

  • Holy crap. Thats awesome.

  • awsome!!! now put this in a taurus wagon. the x is to tall

  • Ok, re: the drag race, I have 2 questions...

Is the Caddy the STS with the 4,6L V8? The powerpnt slide implies that it is.

How about the BMW? Did it have the naturally aspirated 325i/328i 3-litre six (215/230bhp rating)or the more comparable DI twin-turbo-six (300+bhp) as in the 335i?

  • I doubt it was the 335i.

They run 0-60 in the low 5's high 4's even with the automatic...

  • If Ford starts to offer this kind of performance at Ford-level prices, they could give some of the competition a serious headache.

And before anyone starts saying that BMW was a 328, consider the specs. The AWD taurus limited weights 3825lbs, while the BMW 3 series with the TT V6 weights 3814lbs.

The taurus puts out 340HP/340Torque, the Bimmer 300HP/300Torque.

So yes, in top trim, the Taurus will beat the 3-series (who'd a thunk it?)

    Fusion 3.5TT, MTX please

  • Wow, that Taurus was pretty damn quick. I can't wait to see these new engines! And the awsome thing is I work at Ford so I'll get to test em out myself. =D

  • Sure, the Taurus will win... until there's a curve. That thing still handles like a boat.

  • How about a EcoBoost powered SVT Crown Vic? LET IT GO OUT WITH A BANG!!!!

Ehhh, just not a fuel tank puncture related bang.

  • This has got to mean the return of the Taurus SHO or at least I hope it does.

  • Lockjaw, the twinforce was renamed to ecoboost to convey more of a focus on fuel economy.

  • Diantre.. hurry up Ford!! Put that engine in a production Taurus too(sho taurus!)

  • Ford, I have three letters for you:

    S. H. O.

    That is all. Thank you.

  • Keep this info coming. It is nice to have on the sales floor.

  • Good work Ford but isn't this pretty much just the twin force technology that was shown last year? AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put the turbo 3.5 in the AWD Fusion. PLEASE?!! With a 6 speed...the world is begging for this. SVT Version even maybe?

  • Power and MPG. Have your cake and eat it too. Coo.
