  • my bridge pick up wires wont fit in the hole can someone please tell me how to get it to the circuits it gets stuck half way all the time

  • Tips from the master!! Thank you.

It's amazing how he can do it while he's underwater. :P

  • QUESTION : okay so i have a RR5(passive) and an ltd(active), the ltd has emg's in it and im planing on swapping the guitars pickups, is there a way to do this with having to replace the pot's,toggle switch, and output jack? Am i able to this all with soldering? thanks :)

  • damn thanks that was cool

  • THE man..,.

  • Damn I wish he could set up my guitar!

  • Love you SEYMOUR!!!

  • A cell phone camera is better than a notebook... but Seymour is from the old school.

  • replacing the original burstbuckers in my gibson standard with seymour's jb combination was the best that could happen to this guitar. seymour rocks!

  • best pickups around in my opinion S.D. alnico pro 2's. soo cool how he's a music legend and he looks like he just got out of bed and threw on a t-shirt. love that man!!

  • also he was nice enough to sign my guitar.

  • Seymour is just the nicest guy. He really gave me and my band a lot of help.

  • legendary.

  • I grew up in Santa Barbara and saw him once. I was afraid to speak to him. One of my best friends was head luthier for his shop on De La Vina Street. This guy's a master.

  • Music Legend.

  • Hey what's not to like you 13 stoopid people. That's Syemour Duncan fer chrissakes!

  • I just watched someone teaching how to install new strings, and it turned out pretty bad, it has very few winds that my guitar kept on going out of tune, i never thought I could learn the BEST WAY to wind on strings on someone teaching how to install pick ups. Great video!

  • Seymour is a great cat!!! God bless him!

  • I love my SD's!!

  • Seymour Duncan look's like a old scoffy Dog! great pups though...

  • just practice soldering on scrap wire and small metal objects. before you know it, you'll be a pro. I gutted my Fender Jazz bass and replaced all the electronics in about 30 minutes. Everything works fine. phew. Make sure you find a good wiring diagram and take your time.

  • Seymour Duncan is a pretty cool guy.....he installs pickups and doesnt afraid of anything

  • bollocks.... i have no chance!

  • @ererye if you dont know seymour duncan, then you dont know ANYTHING about pickups...

  • @ererye lol isnt y they're called seymore duncans?

  • Can you help me with my Dimarzios?

  • @ererye everything

  • the trick with winding strings is so good! Thank you, Mr.Seymour!!!

  • @ValleysOfSaturn I agree that is a great trick. I wish I had learned that trick years ago.

  • The little string measuring trick is did was awesome... i'm not very good at eye balling how much slack I need to give the strings when putting new ones on... trying that totally

  • @ererye

  • @ererye He knows everthing about pick-ups

  • "hi im seymour duncan, and im the guy ripping you off and taking all your hard earned cash" seriously nice stuff, way to expensive

  • @lordvad3r dude... ebay.

  • @lordvad3r Expensive?

That's hardly a word suitable for describing Duncans.

  • Jeeszzzzz, who is videoing this? You were showing how to test a Pot and what to put where and then we saw the top of your head and that was that. When you flipped that guitar looks like the yellow screwdriver was underneath it???? Also noticed some wires inside that guitar that were not shielded at all. Is it true that inside a Lester shielded wire is usless since its solid body and the cover plate is shieled on the inside anyway?

  • @Davesintexas Si!

  • Are those burstbuckers?

  • @StephenFiorentini hahaha, do you think that seymour duncan will install gibson pickups? c'mon

  • 13 people use emg pickups

  • Comment removed

  • @deathmetalguy666 idk what ur really talkin bout, but its either a pot, soldering iron, or a small flat screwdriver

  • @americanboy64 never mind i allready know it was the soldering iron XD

  • I think the best thing is to find a guitar shop and build a good relationship with the people. I go to a great shop in Terrassa, Spain called Casa Farras and since I buy all my stuff from them, when I buy pickups from them they install them for free. Sure, I pay about ten Euros more per pickup than mail order but they do a great job. Plus, they are always happy to see me. When was the last time Guitar Center looked happy to see you when you logged on? Great video!!!!

  • how do you dislike this video? you don't like the way he put the pickups in perfectly?

  • a mi me tocas mi guitarra y te rompo tu putamadre !! =D hahahaa

  • Seymour Butts

  • 13 people are emg fans! lol

  • @TheShepster80

Im open to ANY pickup makers

  • @TheShepster80 im an EMG fan but i bought a duncan JB today because im not one of the close minded metalheads whos like "MAN PHOOK INNY PIKKUP EKKSEPT EE IM JEEZ"

i was gonna install myself but i watched this vid and was like o.O

  • @TheShepster80 hey! i love emgs but , i also love seymour duncans , the blackouts are by far one of the most BADASS pickup sets ever!!

  • @theamericanmetalhead Not keen on the clean tone of the blackouts myself. I prefer the sh-2 jazz (for clean) and the sh-4 jb combo. Although im led to believe the mustaine livewires are badass and the emg het set are brutal.

  • @theamericanmetalhead Hell YES they are! I tried a full set of blackout single coils in one of my best strats and that guitar came alive, ridiculous tone in every mode you run them through, crunch, clean or major saturation. Duncan majorly raised the bar on EMG when he did the Blackouts, less noise, less compression, more headroom, more 'air' behind the notes... more everything.

  • a man who knows what hes EXACTLY doing

  • its easier on acoustic :)

  • "a little trick i do, when the wire has flashing, i dont know if you guys thought of this, but you can use tape." dudes a genious

  • 13 people ruined their guitar...

  • I'm confused on way anyone would dislike watching a legend change a guitar pickup....

  • His little Stringing lesson at the end is a winner!!!

  • It's like guitar surgery

  • dude that guitar hes usin is so beast!! i played one and it was lik heaven!!

  • @Brimmingmebitter yep, I own a LP Goldtop with Deymour Duncan Alnico Pro II PU's, its really a killer axe, especially when you play it over a Blackstar.

  • my favorite type of pickups..SD !

  • omfg...i hv no idea with the SD slash signature pickup....i doesnt see any wire colour inside the cable....how im going to install into my EPIPS LP STD...anyone?? HELP ME!!!!

  • this guy really knows his stuff

  • @elliotdeware87 he is the pick up god!

  • wow this guy really cares about his guitar. For me its if i got a guitar it wont ever come back the same. I beat the shit out of my guitars. You should see my 4 year old stratocaster its beat to hell works like a charm though.

  • Kind of hard to see whats happening cause of quality, but this was a great help

  • Hey!that's Josh bradford's guitar hahaha cool

  • Hi there, i just have a question, i have an esp ec-50 and usually the top pickup selector switch controls the bridge pickup, but in my case the top seems to control the neck instead, i got this guitar seconds hand, maybe they installed it wrong? is there any way that i can have the top selector switch control the bridge instead of the neck? thanks

  • @goatygeek Basically on Les Paul-type guitars the "up" position is neck pickup and "down" is bridge. If you want to change it, you have to re-wire it by un-soldering the two wires connected to the switch inside the body of the guitar and solder them back the other way around. This is basically it, but if you are unexperienced, seek the advise of a luthier.

  • @SomethinWild Thanks for the help, i already fixed it by re-wiring/soldering. it works perfectly fine now.

  • does it play a roll which wood the guitar have for the change or something else ???

want to change my emg 85 with a seymoar duncan blackout on my ibanez rgt-6 ...

  • this guy is Seymour Duncan ? wow...so this guy made SD pickups right?

  • Oh yeah now that will screw you!

  • you can´t mix a passive pickup with a active pickup

  • @sharingan56789 yes you can, you just need to have a battery powering the active one and the other pickups can be passive, don't post statements like that without evidence in future.

  • this dude's kool

  • The thing I hate with this is that one the home page it stands:

If you aren't used to handle tools like this so go to a pro

My english is bad, but i hope you get what i mean...

And I only have one chance to do it , otherwise i'll have a broken guitar...

  • @robban97swe

Just be very careful with soldering iron and you propably won't do any severe/permanent damage to your guitar, mics or fingers. If it does go wrong, you can always take the guitar to a professional.

  • I failed at Soldering....so I cut the wires and Twisted them together to the new pick up wires......Not the right way to do it!!!! but it works and its a hell of a lot easier....eeekk!

  • Fucking retard.

  • why not practice soldering...

when ur confident go back and solder your wires make sure they are well insulated

  • LiveWires.

  • Those little screwdrivers that he is using are bad ass.

  • how do you ground your connection?my budie connected his stuff and he didn't do it right.

  • @poshi12

You should refer to the pickup wiring diagram first. Not all are the same.

Gibson 57 Classic for example has the braided shield as the actual ground wire, the internal wire is the hot connection. PUP wiring varies. Read the schematic first or get a tech to install it. Proper solder application is also important.

  • Thanks! You're great, love the shirt!

  • thanks for the upload , ) one question is that possible to change activ pu with passiv ???

because i want to have the seymoar duncan "blackout" pu´s on my mtm 2 .

  • @WaldebeatZ you can swap passives for active pickups, but i'm pretty sure you can't mix them, so you couldn't have one passive and one active. either both are active or both are passive

  • @JeremyMoar all right man thanks

  • the tech man at guitar center said its possible 2 mix but its going to not sound as good for the passive

  • hes a pretty cool old man

  • @petepetruzzi Pretty Rich too!

  • Seymour Duncan FTW!

  • I have 9 USA made Les Paul's and they are loaded with Duncan's. Been using them for 20 years and never had a problem.

  • Whats so special about these pickups are they good for metal

  • They r good for any type of music, and they coil split which is great if u have the write wiring and knobs.

  • @Aqualeader5 Some of them, like the Invaders, are.

  • @Aqualeader5 oh dude serious??? they're AMAZING for metal

  • yea same its so complicated

  • f doing this ill destroy my guitar...think ill get a pro to fit it..

  • @theonelink its not that hard

  • @theonelink illiterate people are my favorite ^_____^

  • @theonelink sounds bad but trial and error, ive messed some stuff up on a guitar before, but two days ago i installed couple DiMarzios in my sg, kills it now, so somtimes its worth the risk if u dont have the money to pay. no i am better at installin pickups, maybe next time i can wire an entire strat pickguard

  • I need to see a vid on how to fix a bridge pickup from shorting out on a gibson V. It has the standard V pickguard but Idk how to really solder the loose wire back on a guitar like that. Most guitar vids with pickguards arent gibson style pickguards. nebody that can help me?

  • Wait, I'm not entirely sure what he's doing on the back of the guitar; like, what is he doing with those wires?

  • im not sure either, but i think hes just removing the wires that connect the bridge pickup to the tone and volume controls, otherwise, when he trys to take the pickup out, he'l yank the whole think out and ruin the wires. I think anway.

  • Rose Pickups. Amazing pickups, american made, 1/3 the price. google Rose Pickups. They are in Northern California

  • I replaced my bridge pick up from my USA STRAT by a SD hotrails (small humbucker to fit in singe coil slot)...and added a very smal pre-amp....super sound!

  • If i got Squier Strat

And i wan't to replace the pickup cuz i read from many reviews that It's stock pickup sounds bad

Which kind of pickup should i replace

When I want my guitar have wide range of music genre

taking all blues and rock or possibly metals

and is it good idea to use floyd rose bridge on squier strat?

    Please reply

I need more than one opinion too

I'm kinda newbies to electric guitar

  • its metal. noob. dont waste money on a strat just save up for a new one.

  • No point putting good pickups in a crap guitar, and replacing the bridge with a floyd would probably cost more than the guitar itself

  • man you are all over the place, there is no pickup good for , blues rock and metal, if you like metal go with dirty fingers, etc, floyd rose bridges are crap, dont even think to stick it into a strat lol, your best bet right no is to buy yourself a good tube amp and a humbucker equipped guitar, it should do the trick for now.

  • the origan floyd rose made by schaller is really great. I'm tired of ppl bitchin' bout a crappy licensed floyd rose

  • nice new tip on string replacement =D

  • Holy crap that SG Std you played in Santa Barbara Fiesta smokes em all!

Any more samples of you playing that SG? How bout some slide?

  • is it possible to replace a single coil with a humbucker on a strat?

  • look up seymour duncan's hot rails. they're specialized humbuckers fit to fit in a strat.

  • yea ive heard of them but i really wanna put an active humbucker in their. somethin like a EMG 81 or a Seymour Ducan blackout

  • ohhh.. i think seymour Duncan makes single coil blackouts, but they're not humbuckers. they're active though.

  • will it sound the same if i put it in the bridge position? (sound the same as a humbucker)

  • No.

  • if u buy a new pickguard, or a Humbucking Single coil pickup

  • yeah but you'll need the cut the pick guard the a bigger size ( the whole for the single coil) to fit the humbucker

  • yes, but you have to change the pickguard aswell.

  • This is not a criticism, just a question.

Can someone tell me why Americans pronounce the word "Solder" as "Sodder"?

You leave out the letter "L"

  • its called a silent letter.. just as in ghoul, you don't say the "H" and knife, you don't say the "K" and lastly, as in solder. you don' say the "L" =)

  • @maxwellthedog

the same reason we voted for "Dubbya"

    ...twice

  • could someone please, advice me about seymour duncan pick ups on an alder body?? i have a yamaha pacifica with 1 humbucker and 2 single coils, so I was thinking if seymour duncan pickups would work out on my alder body guitar.. i have so many questions..

  • Yes, Seymours are good in any type of wood, I have 2 Jacksons with Seymours. I use a Screamin Demon in the bridge position a vintage rails in the middle and a Jazz on the neck in my Alder body Jackson. It sounds fantastic!

  • or would it be better to get an EMG? what seymour pickup do you recommend for a chunky bright sound? active pickups are more expensive than passive.. but someone told me that if I put a passive pickup having an Alder body, i won't listen a big difference in sound.. therefore it'd be better to get an active one with a pre amp already.. what do you say maxwellthedog?

  • a stratocaster is the easiest because all the wires are straight foward and you get a larger area to work with

  • Did Kurt Cobain use a seymour duncan pickups on one of his mustang?

  • yea, when i went to the rock & roll hall of fame they had one of his mustangs with a duncan on it.

  • Seymour is the magician of the pickups. Every pickup I have tried sounded not only distinctive but quality wise so clear an responsive it changed the way I played. And this you can understand without using tones of effects.Just simply plug to the amp.

  • are seymour duncan alnico 2 pro pickups single conductor wires or four?

  • I'm Gonna Put Some Pick-ups In My Duncan Yo-Yo And Also On My Dounut But Sereously. I Put The Hot Rodded Set In A Unknown Model Fernandes Guitar. It Was The Best Thing I Ever Did In Life

  • the pickup size was to big for my guitar is what the duuude said

  • why does he use Seymour Duncan pickups so much??? haha, jk. nice video

  • would a seymour duncan 59 in the neck sound good with an alnico 2 in the bridge

  • of course...dimebag darrell even used a 59 in the neck. slash uses 2 alnico 2 pro's.

  • im trying to get new pickups for my agile les paul but the pickups i guess were the wrong size or somthing for my guitar because when i asked if i could get them replaced the guitar guy said that he couldnt get them out because there in there for good...what do i do?

  • You should smack the person that installed them?

  • surendra- that makes no sense to me at all. The only thing I can think of is the routing for the pickups was too small, but that is highly unlikely, almost unheard of- all these guitars are routed by CNC machines. I would find another "guitar guy"...something's fishy

  • i need help from any one my when i raise my pick up it always leans forward what can i do to fix that i already looked at it and it still leans forward what can i do it's bugging

  • He's a Guitar surgeon!

  • bad finger 8:08

  • hum, it depends of what you play: if you play mainly metal stuff with different tuning, get the one with emgs.

cause the FR make detuning very hard !!

I would say, it depends of what you play.

  • can you put active pickups in a guitar that came with non active ones? and is there any point putting new pickups in a guitar that costs 250?

  • you can put active pickups in any guitar if there is enough place in it.

You should buy a new guitar instead of buying expensive pickups.

  • ok kwl thx wanna get a schecter tempest with emg's or c1 fr but i have hever had a floyd rose before should i go for one without i tried one out today it was ok but i didint really know what to do with it lol like the dive bombs and stuff i really want a schecter tho should i get a floyd rose ?

  • Well it's really up to you. The Floyd Rose is worth it because if set up right it will NEVER go out of tune. But at the same time I've had friends who completely loathe Floyd Roses because they sometimes don't work to their advantage and end up getting out of tune then the balance on the thingy is all weird. So idk it's really up to you. I would get one if I had the chance just to play with it and worst case scenario I still have my other guitars but idk. I would do it.

  • i put an £80 pickup in £80 guitar and its great.

  • I'm sure.

  • @synveng yes you can and no there's not unless you're downsyndromed

  • @dpapaioannow its allright got a maverick now

  • I never thought of re-stringing my guitar like that. I'll have to try that. Seems so much easier

  • This may sound dumb, but does Seymour play himself?

  • i'm pretty sure he plays...

  • i put a seymour duncan JB in my standard start and it was no bother, give it a go. am thinking about changing the pickups on my gibson les paul. Peter green mod or something, dunno yet. ne suggestions??

  • Depends on the sound you wanna get , have you ever heard about SM Blackouts?

Or maybe SM SH55 Seth Lover Humbucker..

  • maybe try emg xD on a gibson

  • Really depends on your sound you want. I like the JB's but my personal favourite pickup is the dimarzio duper distortion dp100. Amazing pickup

  • super distortion lol....

  • is the jb good for heavy stuff? are they high output? good harmonics? liek good for metallica n stuff liek that and also the 80's van halen stuff and dokken??

  • ye their heavy with high output

  • for playing Dokken and Van halen the jb will be a good choice along with the Geoge lynch Screamin Deamon pickup.

For playing metallica i Would use EMG active pickups

  • does anybody know why on my bridge pickup some strings are barely audible, specifically my low E string, while the other strings are loud and clear but when i change over to my neck pickup everything is fine. thanks in advance for any replies.

  • Replace your treble pickup, sounds like your magnets might be fucking around or your pickup is just bad in the first place. Also check the "action" of your strings, the ones not audible may be way to high from the pickup. Or maybe the screws under those strings on the pickup are low or high (i'm not sure about that last one if it affects anything) but hope this helped.
