  • There is nothing to be afraid of but there is nothing wrong with being afraid, I'm 14 and taking flight lessons so obviously im far from afraid and I know how safe that It actualy is, but when I was much younger I was afraid

  • Well i'm a pilot but i like to see this because i can help people who are afride

  • @watchflaggedvidz true, but I have had a fear of flying ever since I was a kid. when I was about 5 years old one of my best friends was flying a little Cessna, when he was about to land a gust of wind hit the aircraft and threw him off course, he landed in the soft sand to the right of the runway, the plane flipped over and caught fire. He could not get out in time and he died.

  • @watchflaggedvidz whats the chance of surviving a car when it crashes. compared with the chance of surviving a plane crash. a vehicle crash is much more survivable then a plane crash.

  • @watchflaggedvidz as far as i remember its smaller than that

  • im not afriad of flying... im afraid of suddently NOT flying!.

  • @MAmoviesRS hahahhahahha

  • Imagine all plane crash videos on youtube, only the real ones.

Now imagine all the normal landings, takeoffs there is on youtube.

Now imagine all normal landings, takeoffs not on youtube.

Flying is safe, media shows you the worst stuff to get more money, and stuff.

  • can you source these statistics?

  • I didn't know ads in youtube could be 5:15 long...

  • I'm afraid of developing tumors and other maladies due to exposure to x-ray radiation from the TSA scanners. They claim that second hand smoke from cigarettes is dangerous and unhealthy so they won't let you smoke on an airplane, but x-rays are not?!?!

  • I am sorry but where did that 90% figure come from?

  • Well, I am going to be a commericial pilot, and I will never be afraid!

  • im relally scard of flyng and i hav to go to fly today (15 August 2010 Sunday)

  • What about 9/11. How do you know if a plane's not hijacked?

  • Thank you!

  • This sounds odd BUT IT'S TRUE! You have a 90% chance of surviving a plane crash and flying in a plane is safer than being in a house! Oh and if you're afraid of flying and it's at night or even the day.. Just put on a sleep mask and put in some earplugs (if you're in business class) then sit back and sleep for ages or think about things going on like events coming up.

  • Thanks for you comment. I have 3 flight this month.

  • I fly all the time. The more you do it the more normal it becomes as a form of transport. My co-worker who flies even more than me (up to 20 flights a month) thinks no more of hopping on a plane than getting on a bus. It is all to do with familiarity. Take flight attendants, they are considered to have a safe job so that should reassure you all. Something else to consider, if you had a loved one traveling from one side of the country to the other, would you prefer them to travel by car or fly?

  • Flying is just taking another chance with your life. Just like getting in a car.. Its easier to get in a car and drive to where your going but when you get into a plane your putting your life in a strangers hand.. You can say they are trained in their job but they are just people and people do make mistakes...

  • There is no way anything can help me!!!! I have heard this a million times before " I am scared when I fly because..." These people have flown and yeah they might be afraid, but as for me I am to damn afraid to even look at a plane let alone get on one.... At least these a-holes have the guts to fly.. I need help from a source that helps people who have never flown and for people who feel that their life is going to be less fulfilled because I can never get over my fear.. No help for me..lol

  • How would it be to do what that air captain/host/author does for a living? Now THAT would be a truly fulfilling, rewarding career: helping others further themselves by discovering your own passion.

  • I had the opportunity to go to England, Germany, France and I believe Sweden on a school trip as a chaperone with my girlfriend. The school was going to pay EVERYTHING. They were short 1 chaperone. I had 0 expense. I said i appreciated the offer, but there was no way that i was getting on an airplane. They all went and returned safely.

  • I have been an absolute nervous wreck just being in an airport. I was just picking someone up

  • It sounds like you could really use a class or some therapy to get over your fear of flying. I'm not "afraid" of it per se, but I do get nervous before flights. I think about the statistics and about how likely it is that my aircraft will experience problems. Rationalizing it makes me more comfortable.

  • wat da hell are you talking about??? there are more car crashes than plane crashes, get your facts right

  • You're right.

Of course, the humorous reply is that cars don't fall out of the sky. :)

Though we know plane crashes are much less likely to happen than car crashes, I'd like to know which of the two is more survivable.

  • it doesnt matter if it is survivable or not, if a plane crashes, there is a high chanhce u will either die or live, (i've havent heard of too many survivors being injured that they become paralyzed or something), but with a car crash, if u do survive, there is a high chance u will be disabled for the rest of your live, so I'd rather die than become disabled.

  • and there is a 99/100 chance that you will crash and die

  • Your math is a little off... You mean to say that it is 99/100%. Or written another way, 0.99%, which is less than 1%. I think even that number is too high, though.

  • More like a 0.0005% chance of dying in a plane crash.

  • I HATE flying! This might seem kinda dumb, but its the way your ears pop when you take off.

  • There are a few solutions to the ear-popping problem. A few are to chew gum, drink water, or yawn as you pass through the altitudes that cause your ears to pop. The reason it works is that the act of swallowing equalizes the air pressure on the inside of your eardrums with the air pressure around you.

This also happens in elevators and on theme park rides. My ears pop when I drive up a certain hill on a local expressway. It's not a high hill, but I think the steepness is a factor.

  • i'm scared of flying and have flew before without fear but since having kids i have feared flying more than ever i would rather go by boat at least i can swim i cant fly an inch.

  • i am really scared of flying and this help a little thanks
