@700gsteak Mikimoto's art evolved by then, and so did anime character design in general (that game is from the 90s after all). If you're interested in how the original Macross characters officially look today, check out Mikimoto's (I believe still ongoing) SDF Macross re-telling manga.

this movie starts right after you defeat a ship that is causing a radio jam and cancels out Minmay's broadcast. It's sort of an add on to the movie from the game.

This is, as was noted, a segment from the PSX and SS game. However, it can also be seen on the 20th Anniversary DVD (which I have.) I will bet that this is from that DVD.

its canon but not as you would think, this is litteraly a movie with in the macross story. there are references to it, as being a movie, in macross 7
