Great idea. BUT, Yankee Candle makes Illuma-lids that work on any candle. (Although I only use theirs.) They make your candles burn evenly everytime. The main reason why people have soot: they don't trim the wick to 1/4 inch. The main reason their candles don't burn evenly: they don't burn them the required 3 to 4 hours needed to make the wax pool touch the sides. (You get more scent doing it this way and tons less waste.)Also, if there's a draft, not good! Use Illuma-lids..helps a lot!
