  • I really, really, really appreciate this video! Thank You! Nice voice too. :)

  • so nataliemedia,I have a doubt. If there are two vocalists a male and female and if they sing a duet will they record it combine or separate? that means first one will sing their part separately and other will sing their part on another day. Please explain this..........:)

  • @activeakshay You can choose to record it together or separately. Vocals are recorded to hard drive and you can play back the WAV file from any DAW (digital audio workstation) in order to sing along to record the counterpart. When you sing a vocal it is recorded, and because of this they can be recorded separately and then edited together. Usually though there is an arrangement created, so everyone knows what part they are supposed to sing according to that.

  • This is awesome. What a cool thing to do ! Actually explaining to us how the mysterious process of creating a song from scratch works. You ARE AMAZING Natalie ! Thank you for sharing so openly with us. What a gift you are to us. I have been playing with writing a song for my company and this was a BIG help.

  • @bigpicturerick Rick so glad that this video helped to show you some of the process. This is really just a glimpse inside the details that go into writing. Hope the song you write for your company is a great adventure for you. All the best, Nat

  • Very Cool! A lot of works go behinds the scene.

  • @shayla2015 Glad u liked it. Yes, so much goes on behind the scenes. I'm glad to share it with you all.

  • I use my computer to write lots of song lyrics that I compose into a song. I can't sing so most of my songs are written as rap lyrics, but since I can't really rap, my songs sound more poetic. Like I am talking if front of a prearranged looped musical background, now I have over 400 songs, I am starting to get better, I call the genre to my songs "Love Rap", there beautiful songs, most of them are written for a beautiful girl in my mind. I spend way too much time writing lyrics.

  • @Rickyrick111159 Ricky have you ever thought of doing a spoken word project? If you are not a rapper or singer, but you do have something that is like rap/poetry then that might be something to look in to. You can never spend too much time writing lyrics!!!

  • awesome, you know your stuff Nat!

  • @BoogabooMusic Thanks Boog!!!

  • It's nice to see your process Natalie. Mine is sooo different from yours and often not the same for 2 different songs.

  • @robertantonvlogs I think it's so cool to hear or see how other artists go about their process. I find everyone is different and it's a beautiful thing to see so many paths to creation!

  • Great video, so informative & instructional!

  • @Chodidee Thanks for watching!

  • @SonnyTheWhiteDwarf I hope u find ways to free yourself to be able to create! People are late for appts., it happens.

  • @SonnyTheWhiteDwarf As a Dwarf, you embody magic, fantasy, and fairy tales! I am sure you can still be creative, even in your current state! LOL

Actually, it's the opposite for me. During some of my most bleak times, the only thing that i feel kept me going was writing, singing, recording... it was my absolute lifeblood. Even if I had to cry myself through the writing or recording, I did it.

  • @nataliemedia In fact if you go back and listen to a few songs on my first album, they were born out of a horrible period in my life. Check out the "Let The Candle Burn" playlist on my channel page and listen to Wind At My Back, Confused and In My Dreams. I pretty much cried my way through those songs. They were hard to get out, but I broke through my pain recording them. I am not sure I am the norm in this tho! Usually I do the least writing when I am content!

  • @nataliemedia I think now that as I have written for a long time now, I have found a balance and I can pretty much write through any mood. Some songs see the light of day, some do not.

  • Great video!

  • @Sweasy26 Thanks!

  • I finally got to watch it. Woohoo!!!

  • @Light2guideyou YAY. Shall we give MySpace a doggie treat now? LOL

  • @Light2guideyou Yeah.

  • @Light2guideyou ha ha!

  • @nataliemedia don't know how we would do that/ be funnt to try.

  • @Light2guideyou funny^

  • great vid! ppl r really curious, and very sweet and caring of u to share, still under construction, still got ur back, u know what i mean, thanks for sharing! talk soon Nat!

  • @Sherayx I do know what u mean. I'm glad that my sharing the process for Jeremy and I is helpful.

  • Yputube hates me. It won't let me watch this video no matter where I watch it. I'll try.

  • @Light2guideyou Did u finally get to watch? Weird how YT is sometimes. I get the same thing for some vids. Sigh....

  • @nataliemedia Not yet. I will try one more time. It loves to do that alot. Makes no sense. And,is annoying.

  • You have confirmed my perception that it is much easier to listen to music than to create it! Maybe some day I will do a ten-second video on how to listen to a song! Actually, that could be quite involved, too, hmmm.

    .

Your video also confirms that 99 cents is a great price to be able to listen to a song for an entire lifetime.

    .

Your video is about the best I've seen, that can make anyone (musician or not) appreciate the process. Thansk.

  • @DoRayMeFa Ray thanks so much for this comment. It really blessed me! I wanted to present the process in a simple way as I get asked a lot what it takes to write/record a song.

I also really appreciate that you realize that .99 cents (less than the cost of a cup of coffee) is really a bargain for a song that touches your life and grows with you through the years.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. Please share it and tell others about it if you are so inclined. I'd appreciate that :) Peace!

  • Hi Nat I just have to say that these videos keep getting better and more impressive so keep up the excellent work! We will have to talk about a project later on.

  • @RobRichmondRPG Glad u are enjoying them. Going to switch content up in this series to be able to connect with all my friends out there in the net-o-sphere! Peace :)

  • cool vid hon! i get asked alot too!!! its amazing how different each of our approaches is! I think this would be a very interesting vid for the newbies... L xxx

  • @Laurence0802 Thanks L! i love learning how other artists go about the process. TY for watching :)

  • Hey Natalie!

I really was curious about how your creative process flowed, thanks 4 sharing!

Your next video, should have more singing, and less talking :-)

    [JK] ;-)

  • @mooogg Glad u enjoyed. This is a vlog man!

  • @nataliemedia I know,I just like hearing you sing ;-)

  • @mooogg Awe, thanks. Some will have singing tidbits... but most will be me talking/interacting. Did u know I put all 3 albums in playlists here? Check the front of my channel for them on the right side. Thank u for listening!

  • Now that you revealed all your creative steps, you can expect to have far more competition.

  • @Vatsek Variety is the spice of life. The more, the merrier!

  • whew.. it's fun to watch you sing! Nice video- interesting that you seem to come up with lyrics last. That's all.. just interesting! Thank you for sharing your time and expertise.

  • @spikerztuber Thanks Jim! Nowadays I come up with lyrics last. When I first started writing I did lyric/melody first. I write many different ways, but as of the last album the above way is what Jeremy and I worked out for our process. How do you usually do it? I love learning how other artists go about their process also. So cool we can all do this different ways!

  • @nataliemedia Well, I don't write lyrics, so it doesn't really apply. I probably do more stuff like Jeremy- arrangements and mix. He plays keys too, right? Yeah, I let the singers sing and I just play. :)

  • @spikerztuber Yeah Jeremy plays keys. He does all the sequencing for our stuff... also engineering/mix. He's the total package! LOL
