  • The Defendant looks nerdy

  • The D has no sense of humour

  • @ArvengusSabre Too serious

  • Comment removed

  • lol the D. remind me of the episode 'Mister Postman' in Naruto : They have the same resolve! I bet he wouldn't blink either if 'Harem Jutsu' was used on him .

  • That's just fair ... and btw people should look for second hand books first, before looking for new books if you really want to save ! Like ...... me :D

  • @deadmanavir old books are the best !

  • Lol the defendant had his stern face on the whole time.... Sheesh.

  • has she ever heard of the website ebay:)

  • Why the hell would someone waste so much time and effort over $80 bucks? Cmon now

  • The book store should have called the police and had her removed. It is one thing to have tenacity. It is another to flog a dead horse to make an invalid point.

  • That's not expensive for a post secondary textbook

  • I like the defendant's unimpressed face when Judge Milian waves the book at him

  • Doesn't this lady know she's just perpetuating stereotypes against Jews? And yes she's Jewish, her husband mentioned something about Rosh Hashana, you wouldn't reference that unless you're Jewish.

  • God lady, get over that stupid book. Most college textbook sellers have strange policies about returns, etc anyways. And besides, you should ask the policies before you buy something.

  • @MilkSkatesxx Exactly they have those policys since people start courses dont like the amount of work or its too hard then try to return all the books they bought Or they do the term that requires the book and then try to get a refund Lol

  • The plaintiff's petulant behavior makes me sick.

  • Oh, the judge did not sympathize with her own son's sudden luck? Maybe instead of trying to profit twice, she should give her son's book away to another student in the same situation as him? That the book was not going to be used the next quarter does not mean it will never be used indefinitely. Its so shameful she is trying to profit from another person charity.

  • notice how the mom (lady with the kane) is walking alot faster on the way out not even using the kane unlike coming in.

  • @Wilbtube ,WhyMeMoFo destroyed u and ur homo self-conscience state of thought .. Argument was always much more effective on WhyMeMofo's side. +++

  • Love how the defendant even smile once!

  • I like the defendent doesn't crack a smile with all this dumb story telling, he knew he was right.

  • As the lady is putting her cane down at 0:34, it sorta sounds like the bongo drums in the full theme; it's a pretty neat coincidence!

  • look at the negro in the back, holy shit sister u need to work on everything.

  • Do what I do and sell your university text books on Amazon. That's what I do.

  • I don't know about American Law, but in Australia, we have consumer laws that state you have a minimum of a week to refund even if you simply changed your mind.

  • @TZstarcraft no but that would be great

  • lol, this case would be resolved on Judge Judy in 30 seconds.

  • @PandorasBoxFilm Millian wanted to milk it, she was enjoying herself.

  • @PandorasBoxFilm Judge Judy could solve

any case faster than Kim Kardashian's marriage

  • @PandorasBoxFilm Ha! You're right. I can just imagine JJ (after hearing the plaintiff saying, "it's in shrink wrap") barking, "SO?!?!?"

  • Working at retail, I can say that these people are incredibly annoying. Yes, exceptions can be made by managers. Managers and cooperations make rules and have the right to break them. However, that does not mean they will. If an exception is never made for just one customer. In every experience I've been in where an exception has been made, another customer overhears or the customer goes and tells other people that they can get the same thing. It doesn't make for good situations usually.

  • @Drummerboiz19

Exactly, there's policy at my work, which my managers ALWAYS make exceptions for to avoid THIS, it's not my problem anymore, it's my manager's, I follow policy the best way I can, and my managers suck at following it, let alone make sure my fellow co-workers do the same, so I have numerous angry people in my face because somebody else didn't follow it earlier, but they come to me, and all of sudden the rules change. It's like if you have policy follow it.

  • sell the damn book on ebay!

  • @samispock not to mention several other sites that deal specifically with the buying, and selling of text books. They would pay top dollar for a book that wasn't used.

  • plaintive should be embarrassed, she surely should have something better to do, i'm embarrassed for her

  • Judge Milian's hair color is fighting ferociously with her skin tone.

  • i work in retail and its bitches like that make me wanna kill people

  • That guy is such a stick in the mud.

  • i loved how the judge agreed with the tenacity of the plaintiff, then when the defendant says about 20 words she turns to the plaintiff and does the polite version of "oh s**t son, in yo face, gtfo"

  • I hate people like that, I used to work at a store and people like that apparently could not read the massive signs posted everywhere. Shop somewhere else if you don't like the policy.

  • Aw, I love the P, too!

  • Wow the Defendant looked as if hes paying his taxes with sense of humor and got nothing left. i bet he only smiles when hes playing World of Warcraft.

  • @parasitesarefunny what the heck does that have to do with anything?

  • @LightoftheFather lol sometimes I read people's comments on youtube going off on some racist tangents or saying something that is dangerously offensive to someone's religion or gender and I seriously wonder if people are taking their anti-psychotic medications or not.

  • @parasitesarefunny WHO is lying and deceiving in this case? You're nuts...troll

  • I think the defendant is kind of cute..? So sue me.

  • @doubled254 He was hot. I bet he's got a sadistic streak too<3

  • Wow what a boring looking bloke. He must be Superman of the bookshop and that's it!

  • should have gone to Specsavers!

  • for many students, saving that $80 would be important...and having spent it on something that is rendered useless (since he does not need two books) is a hit to their budget. however, since mom and pops are paying and obviously have not claimed financial hardship as their reason for wanting a refund, i don't pity this particular student. but i see how another student might really hate this sort of situation.

  • What a handsome young man.

  • This lady is just being a cheapass.

  • $80??????? The travel expenses are more than that!!!!

  • i have to deal with dat type of customer everyday where i work at, they think that because they are customers, dat we are their genies and whatever their wish is MUST be our command, that type of customer would be thrown out of the store in a second, and that would have been the end of that, a company has policies to avoid bankruptcy and abuse, if she doesnt like the policies then she has to go to another store, plain a simple, good call judge

  • I was gonna ask is this a jewish thing until I realized that the husband was like fuck it, I don't care about 80 freakin dollars.

  • That black guy out there in the pimp coat that said 'well I argue with you until the moon come up!"

    ... I love him.

  • I think the return policy was completely reasonable, what an unreasonable nagging bulbous old hag, being married to that asshole must be a complete and utter nightmare. It doesn't matter if she spoke "nicely", she was being a total nuisance who refused to comprehend the truth. I'm certainly no fan of school book stores, I do think it's a total scam, but the policy was clearly stated and within reason. A champion of virtue and justice, she IS NOT.

  • The defendant has the personality of a cigarette butt.

  • @Blade10201 lol

  • The student could have approached his classmates immediately and sold the book as a private sale.

  • @WhyMeMoFo Give it a rest, WhyMeMoFo, extremism is not a legitimate point of view, and insults are no arguments. By the way, my license is all right. I preferred to be a teacher rather then a professor. Guess my academic accomplishments. No wait: don't. Get rid of your bloviating ego first.

  • Comment removed

  • @WhyMeMoFo You tell me.

  • @WhyMeMoFo Courtesy is a traded commodity now? Are you kidding yourself or what? No, I do not appear in the video. I'm also (self-righteously and otherwise) gay, so guess how many breasts I have touched i my life so far. Indeed, we are not in the same sport. And even if we were, we wouldn't be on the same team. And to forstall your next question: no, I wouldn't want you on the team if you were the last man on earth. Anything else you wanted to discuss?

  • @WhyMeMoFo Good for you. Now all you have to learn is to behave according to the academic standards that we both know you should master by now.

  • @WhyMeMoFo Well, I'm a teacher. If you are intimidated by other views or big words, there's an easy solution for you: stop eating junk food, start studying. My 'manager' would totally agree.

  • Comment removed

  • @WhyMeMoFo And your point is? What if that is his nature? Or his conscious choice?

  • He doesn't find this incident funny. Get over it people.

  • wow, this guy must be missing the humor gene.

Didn't even smile when the woman said. "Give me the book"

  • omg, its superman!

  • He can't even take a joke! He needs to loosen up a little bit!

  • Comment removed

  • That guy is sooo serious. I bet no girl will date him. No sense of humour.

  • @sgal88 Perhaps he'd prefer to date a guy. Who are you to judge his personal life?

  • @Wilbtube Dude, it was a joke. Just like everyone else was doing. Did you go and answer to everyone else's response?

  • @Wilbtube And if he did date a guy, whammy on him

  • @sgal88 that's my point. I just don't see the fun in disparaging remarks about well-educated people and their perceived lack of success in matters of the heart. Or the idea that heterosexuality is something all should aspire to. No, I didn't respond to all remarks; I'm sorry if I made you feel singled out.

  • @Wilbtube No, you were correct in pointing out my fault. I prided myself instead of humbling myself to your rebuke. Aside from that, I can not stand down about the idea of him being an active homosexual. That is not right and must not be tolerated, like my petty comment.

  • @sgal88 Thank you for those words. I'm sure all openly gay people will appreciate them.

  • hes Pure Nerd Breed

  • The judge is in a very good mood in this case :D

While I understand the policy, I think it'd be a nice gesture for the costumer (and good feedback!) to make an exception if the book is shrink wrapped. Then again as a owner of a college bookstore I also understand if they accept one exception they have to accept them all.

I'm just glad everyone was very polite and respectful :D

  • can the defendant smile? does he have a sense of humor? hmmm

  • 80 dollars lulz

  • A "No Return" policy is a "No Return" policy. What part of that is difficult to understand? Don't like it? Don't shop there!

  • Oh FFS. You would think that the books store would just refund the money to save all the aggravation. Its not as if they couldn't re-sell the book.

  • The voiceover guy sounds like a sleazebag

  • If she picked Roald Dahl's book "Boy" to flick through while she was waiting, the plaintiff has fantastic taste; it's a brilliant book!

  • Would love to have that mum fighting MY corner!

  • school book store policy! You dont like it, dont buy from there then dumbass! They tell you ALL the policy before you walk out the door idiot.

  • while they had no obligation, the right thing to do would have been to take the book back.

if i was her,id tell every parent in town about it.

and start a used book drive too so they can save some of these kids some serious loot.

    also,

the defendant comes across as an utter creep.

esp when hes breaking down the buy-back prices.

bet he ends up running some huge corperation.

  • That's unaustralian

  • I like it when Judge Milian said "talk to me" :D

  • The defendant looks like a total dweeb with those 1 meter thick glasses

  • @MMOExplorer Well that's not very nice. Not everyone can look as perfect as you. Try to find it in your heart to not be so critical and judgemental over people's looks. It's very shallow.

  • @Nina37Seattle I like the movie "Shallow Hal".

  • Sucks that the course was discontinuing, cause she could have easily sold that book herself.

  • WHO SUES FOR $80?!?!! LIKE WTF?

  • @myradrealityshow $80 is important to some, though I do believe that the P was not there for the money. Just to win the battle.

  • @demo2382 Yeah I guess so, and I just found out they all get paid to be on this show ahhaha

  • dude looks like a straight up dick. i wuldv fuked him up if this was my mom

  • While I have been in retail and hated these type of customer as a former college student that got like 4 dollars for every 80 dollar book were really rooting for her, since textbooks are such a rip off.

  • i really liked the defendant

  • @40390576 LOL I agree wholeleartedly on both counts.

  • This Plaintiff has never heard of eBay......

  • Amen.

  • What a sense of humor the defendant has

  • defendant is adorable! I could just eat him up : )

  • She should have talked to the professor of the class and asked him to hold her spot while she dropped the class, got the drop slip and then re registered.

  • I wonder if the defendant has cracked one smile in his entire life.

  • The defendant was probably chosen to represent to company because he knows how to face a person like the plaintiff without going berserk. Many of us don't have that much self-control.

  • 7:55 he is the only one in the courtroom not having fun. he looks as if he saying " do i need all of that "

  • @Eyhab12

at 12:10 after all the BS we went through i am gonna wine that

  • That Asian girl behind Harvey....mmmmmm

  • i love the judge: sometimes the answer is NO :D

  • I love how she is laughing and being all nice and the other guy just can't wait to get out of there, yet the woman basically gets told she can't have whatever she wants. i mean come on, that shouldn't have even been a case. Just because you don't like something does not warrant a lawsuit.

  • f'kkin hipsters

  • That lad needs to consider a career in the diplomatic service or one of the intelligence agencies. There's a stony obstinacy about him that his country could use out there in the dark.

  • Boy! The store manager is CLEARLY fed up with this woman, his face is cold stone, no even a smirk. I guess it all sounds hilarious when it's told as a statement in court, but having to put up with the incredibly obnoxious behavior of this woman mus have had been quite different. I can't believe he didn't counter sue for harassment, I would have.

  • That store policy is really ridiculous. I understand why the P lost, but a brand new book in shrinkwrap? The store can totally re-sell that somewhere. That is just dumb that they won't take it back.

  • @Lauren80s Yes, it is dumb from the store not to take the book back, but not as dumb as to buy a book before even trying to find it used, not only because you might find it cheaper but it would be already side noted and highlighted by probably several previous owners which makes the book 100 times more useful. And regardless, if I was the store manager I would sue this moronic woman for harassment, she needs to learn some boundaries and not to step on other people's rights.

  • @mcmlxvi I agree, except for the suing the woman part.

  • Comment removed

  • @bmcolumbus Which statement are you referring to?

  • wow we dont know which books we will use second semester til like two weeks before the start

  • that was a good one...and i like the "customer's policies" idea"

her story was a bit too long...almost lost interest...

  • Plaintiff is touched in the head.

  • "i would argue with you untill the sun goes down!"

"i would argue with you untill the moon comes up!"

    Ownt! harvey sucks

  • Karma: she left the store and got hit by a big bus. A BIG BUS.

    But no...

  • No smile on the defendants face..........he looks like >.<

  • This is why I like Milian better than Judy. I would be scared of Judy but not Milian. She's too nice.

  • plaintiff is dumb bitch!

  • Jesus Christ lady, shut the fuck up and stop helping make retail the punchline to a bitter joke about "where do you work?" What a petty, neurotic, condescending bitch.

  • Ok, so maybe it's me, or I'm a lil screwed up. When I was in college (1996--99) you actually had to have a hard copy of the book. And you knew policy. . .you sell it for what you could get. I didn't give a shit if I paid 100 bucks for a worthless stats book, but cared that I could get at least 20 bucks for it.

Today, there's smartphones, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, iberries, ipads etc. that you can easily download textbooks in a digital format. Why deal with the bookstores?

  • Anyone else think the guy reminds you of the "duck-face" kid from Full House that had a crush on Stephanie? lol

  • This lady is a pain in the ass. She made all this trouble for $80. She thinks she's above the policy even though it is posted all over the store. She saw the policy when she bought the book, her mistake.

  • fights for animal rights.....YAY!!!!! i knew i liked her..

  • "I don't see that as my problem" It is your problem lady, you bought the book!

"Well, [30 days] is usual" Oh no it isn't. Not in a college textbook store. *Every* textbook store I've been in, on or off campus, has a similar policy about returns having to happen withing a couple of weeks of classes starting. People will copy the books and return them.

As for shrink wrap, you can use a shrink wrap machine and re-wrap the thing. It doesn't really prove that it wasn't used.

  • I think that consumers misconstrue our rights a little bit in this country and we have a sense of incorrect entitlement. When you enter a private business, and purchase an item, you are accepting the store's policy. Period. If you realize later that you don't like the policy, it's too late. Your "signature" is your purchase.

  • Is 'The People's Court' on DVD?; Also, TubeCourt1, how did you record this?

  • Such perfect quality of the video.; How'd you get it to be that high/perfect?

  • omg is the student community this silly?! but the student book, create a favebook community, host scanned copy of study book, get connected with everybody studying the course! for god sakes why are students being so iq and not eq hustlers when buying and sharing study material??!

  • I find it funny that Kurt tells the Plantiff that the ACLU could use her, and that she's Jewish.

  • @ECW2006 That was a beautiful ending:

Plaintff: "I do fight for other causes."

Kurt: "The ACLU could use you."

    Plaintiff: "Including Animal Rights."

  • @ECW2006 I don't get it :o

  • lol @ the thumbnail, its trollface.

  • OMG, the plantiff's are the most annoying people on the planet. who the fuck are they to get an exception? while the rest of us follow the rules?!

  • wheres the typo?

  • Comment removed

  • JM looks really good here

  • you a law student? you should be... haha

  • They could've made a goodwill gesture and taken back the book, seriously! The book was shrink-wrapped for goodness sake! There'd be none of this rubbish in the UK (I hope.....)

  • It's people like this that make retail clerks' lives a living hell.

  • @slowtoinsanity So true!!!

  • Gee, glad to see Kurt is STILL A SMARMY PRICK lol

  • Man, that defendant has absolutely zero sense of humour at all LOL

  • You could always sell it on craigslist...

  • Schools stores are always changing books even if it's just the edition where they just change the font or add a page or two to the book. And the professors are always saying you can only buy them here or from my store -__-

  • One of the biggest ripoffs is school books, they are outrageously priced, the markup is more than jewelry and when you sell them you get about 10 percent of what you paid.

  • @skylur44 but you have to also understand that most of these books are high quality educational material (I have quite a few in my collection). They're worth the money. These are not Dan Brown or Anne Rice. They're very heavy on knowledge. And not a lot of people buy textbooks, in comparison to other books. So, they have to be more expensive

  • @doomsdaymonster7 I understand that, however, I have seen paperback books for 200.00 which, to me, is obscene and I still say regardless of educational content they are way over priced which is why students should buy all their books used. I have seen hard cover books for several hundred dollars, it is just inexcusable, they are not original oils by Van Gogh or Picasso, they are mass produced books. Not the Gutenberg Bible. Not Medieval illuminations. Mass produced school books. Period.

  • actually, i agree with the plaintiff. I once bought a book for a course and the professor told us he changed his mind about using it in the 1st class...they said the only way they would let me sell the book back is if i gave them proof that i dropped the course. it was awful, and in the end, i had a bran new book that cost over 100 that they wouldnt buy back for another year, and they only offered $10 or $15

  • are you the old channel courttube?

  • Suing someone for 80 bucks is pathetic!

  • @nostopsnopurgatory why is it pathetic? sure it isn't a whole bunch of money, but if it's lawfully yours, you can choose to pursue it or just accept that the other person walked all over you. however, this plaintiff is obviously in the wrong and is suing based only on her principles.
